"Do you think we are being followed?" Akira asked and Kyera shook her head.
"No, I don't. I am honestly more worried about running into dark ones between here and the carriages to be honest." Kyera admitted now that they were away from the majority of the humans. She could no longer sense or smell anyone who might be a threat. Yet, she couldn't bring herself to let down her guard. This castle couldn't be trusted.
"Oh? You, Forest Princess, are worried about running into the dark ones? Are you really so weak that you can't handle those creatures?" Akira asked as she bounded down the hallway and to the steps to the dungeon. As she walked down them, her attention focused on Kyera, she hit something and fell down the stairs in a rather undignified lump.

"Carefull, there are two gaurds down on the stairs." Kyera told her as she leaped and soared over both guards and her mother who was scrambling to right herself. "And honestly, most of them we could subdue or fight our way out of. Most of them don't have the fight training or the magic skill to meet my standard but one or two of them could seriously screw any chance of us escaping unscathed." Kyera replied, stopping at the entrance to the exit tunnel. She waited for Akira to dash through before closing the wall.
"Where are we?" Akira asked and Kyera wondered for a moment would she ever stop asking questions? Did this even remotely resemble the time or place to be asking questions like that? Kyera really didn't think so.
"Old Slave tunnels. Follow me. We should be fine as long as no one is in front of us down here. Daxin and the others are waiting for us at the carriages. Once we get there we will get out of here and regroup." Kyera ordered unwilling to slow down even as she explained.
"I see." Akira chuckled darkly and Kyera felt a chill run down her spine.
"You see what?" Kyera asked suddenly wishing she had not chosen to go in front on this journey. It would be a quarter mile at least before she would have a chance to turn around and face Akira if something went wrong.
"Daxin sent you to save me. I wondered why you came back. That makes much more sense." Akira scoffed and followed Kyera who felt an unusual ache in her chest. Did her mother truly think she was that cold hearted to leave her mother with the enemy? Yes this creature barely had the right to be called by that t.i.tle, but that didn't mean Kyera would want to see her skinned alive. Beaten senseless might be another story, but not dead.
"Yea, Daxin." Kyera replied honestly not wanting to explain herself. There was no reason to, the woman probably wouldn't believe her anyway. Within ten minutes the two tigers had made quick work of the tunnel and were out in the open air, facing the forest. Both stopped for breath for a moment, knowing the next part of the dash would be crucial.
"How far?" Akira asked as they focused on controlling their breathing.
"Four Miles. We can make it in less than an hour if we push ourselves. Do you got that in you, Akira?" Kyera asked looking at the older woman. She looked to be in shape, but how much of that was diet and preening and how much of that was muscle? It was hard to tell under all the fur.
