"Do you prefer tea or coffee?" the elder asks as sounds of cups. .h.i.tting a table echo out of the room.
"Tea please." I answer the elder with a polite tone while also thinking about how different the coffee is in this world could be. There's probably no creamer either so I'll just take tea.

After the elder made a pot of tea he set out some teacups and poured some tea before sitting down on a chair nearby.
"Now that you have defeated Jungho you have gained enough contribution points you can enter the clan hall and get a reward of your choice." The elder says after taking a sip of the tea.
As the elder puts his tea down my point of view changes as I feel that I'm no longer in control of the person. It feels like I'm watching someone else play a game as the elder continues talking.
"I suppose so." The person who I was just in control of says as he stares at the elder.
They sat in silence as the elder continued to drink his tea, eventually, the elder spoke up, "Would you like to be my apprentice? I can't offer you much but I can offer you a path for your future. I'm the medicine elder, a Rank 4 Alchemist, and I have an authority that rivals even the clan leader. I only require that you tell me what happened during the fight just now."
Seeing the elder being so serious the First test host went quiet while deeply thinking about his answer.
'Just say yes already. Your gonna pick to be his apprentice anyways. Isn't that how these types of stories go?' I think to myself as time pa.s.ses by while they sit in silence. The First Trial's host is just sitting there looking conflicted about whether he should become the elder's apprentice or refuse the offer. The choice should be a direct yes, he gains everything in this trade, he literally has nothing to lose. So why is he conflicted and taking so long to answer?
"I don't think I can Sir Elder, this opportunity for me is a blessing but I know my talent very well. I only have a talent for fighting, even I don't really know what happened during my fight. I got very mad, and then that's the last thing I remember before blacking out."
The host says in confusion, of course, he doesn't remember anything. He wasn't even in control but it seems that the trial made me take control of his body while putting him in a sleep-like state. I thought that he would at least remember the fight though... that's definitely weird considering he took control when speaking sometimes. But his refusal for this heaven-sent opportunity made me feel some respect for this guy, he was given a chance to instantly upgrade his life and future but he chose to stay on his path. Would I have made the same choice if it were me in his place instead?
"I understand, there's no need to be nervous, it's your choice and I'll respect your decision. The reason I offered you an apprenticeship is because you have an aura of death around you. The aura wasn't there before when I've seen you from afar but after seeing your fight I caught sight of it and became curious and wanted to see if I can help you avoid it. If the clan were to lose a genius like you then how are we supposed to grow in the future?" The elder says as he looks at the First Trial's host again after a sigh.
"It's fine elder if I were to die then that's just my fate. If I'm fated to die then I shall twist that very fate and prosper in the world." The First Trial's host says confidently after listening about the deathly aura. I guess he's confident in his abilities? Honestly, it seems like he's just gonna die off.
"Alright go on to the clan hall and choose some rewards for your contribution points. You've earned them yourself so I can't make you choose anything but I will remind you, you should choose things that can change your fate. A strong sword or spear can only last so long." The elder says as he sends off the First Trial's host to the clan hall with a teleportation talisman.
After sending the guy away the elder turned to look at me in the eyes and then turned around to leave while whispering to himself.
"I hope that your fate will change young man, it seems that you might be destined to die."
As the elder finished speaking the entire world froze over as if I used the time stop skill but it felt different and more powerful than when I use it. Like the entire world coming to a permanent halt instead of the temporary one normally I do.
