Potion Maker Chapter 33: Needed Information

After waking up from a good night's rest, Will's stomach rumbled with intense hunger as he went to the fire pit and ate left over meat from yesterday.

Sitting on a log, he enjoyed the fresh morning air as the early morning sun gently warmed his body, looking at Cecily who just started to wake up, Will realized that his arms were very itchy.

Like, really itchy.

He took off the bandages that Cecily placed on him, and looked at his skin, besides some dried blood that flaked off, there were no signs of an injury present.

He didn't even have a scar.

Seeing this, Will couldn't help but think to that time in the ravine when he woke up with no injuries after fighting the wolves.

It seemed that there he had some sort of fortuitous encounter.

It was at at this moment, that Will realized he forgot about the system.

'System, can you tell me what happened to my body?'

After waiting several seconds, there was only silence.

'System?'

'Hey..'

-Host, I apologize, I was busy

After several attempts at contacting the system, it finally responded, causing Will to sigh.

'What were you doing? I mean, what does a system have to do in the first place?'

A system is a system, right? So Will decided he needed answers.

-You are asking too many questions

Sadly, the system refused to comment.

'Wh'

-Host, your body has been adjusted by a heavenly treasure, your recovery abilities have been raised immensely giving you a weak form of regeneration, making sense because those injuries took a whole night to heal, true regeneration would have handled that in a matter of minutes to a couple of hours.

Like that, the system interrupted him, and told him the information he previously asked for.

Will was a little surprised, the system now doesn't seem as lifeless as it did earlier, like it is getting smarter, or was pretending to be stupid from the beginning.

-I have things to do host, so don't bother me

"This.."

'Isn't the system supposed to be aware all the time and help me whenever I need it!?'

Will was pretty shocked at the moment, he was even slightly irritated because he realized he forgot something.

He forgot about the system shop, so now he has to wait a long time depending on if he forgets again or whenever the system is not busy.

In his deep thoughts, Will failed to realize that Cecily was looking at him with her head slightly tilted.

From her perspective, when she opened her eyes, she saw Will not only in deep thought, but constantly changing his expressions, even stranger, he appeared to mutter to himself at times.

This left Cecily very curious.

"Will, what are you doing?"

In his deep thoughts, Will was startled into alertness by a soft and gentle voice suddenly coming out of nowhere.

He fell off of his log because of how startled he was.

When he got up, he could only see a slightly groggy Cecily laughing at him as he brushed the dirt off of his clothes.

He glared in return.

This was a very strange scene, the rising sun, a young man irritated and being laughed at by a younger girl, with three dead bodies in the vicinity.

Anyone would probably run away thinking they were both psychopaths at this moment.

With the sun high up in the sky, both Will and Cecily headed deeper into the forest, with Cecily in the lead.

Apparently, her sect is on a mountain that sits right in the middle of one of the most dangerous forbidden zones in the forest.

Will was relieved though, even though he would still technically be in the forest, he would also be out of the forest.

He would be on a mountain in a forbidden zone, and wouldn't have to deal with the forest.

He would have to deal with the forbidden zone.

Since it would be a long journey, Will asked Cecily about the world, although she left out some information since she was raised in the forest her whole life.

Even the sect elders didn't have much information on the outside world since the forest was so large it was like a small world on its own.

The needed information that Will got from Cecily was as such.

From the beginning of history till present day, approximately 400 million kilometers of the forest was explored, and even that is only 1/1000th of the forest according to an ancestor that flew over the forest only to return severely injured and die soon after reporting the discovery.

Out of the 400 million kilometers, only about a quarter of it was inhabited, mostly by sects and small amounts of mortals.

With his eyes widening and getting as large as saucers, Cecily then gave him whatever information she had on the world.

It was like this.

Not even one percent of this world has been explored. According to the ancestors, this forest is actually the smallest forest they have discovered in all of their years of exploring.

If they only explored about 1/1000th of this forest, imagine the other larger forests?

She didn't give him any knowledge about countries and stuff like that, because her sect hasn't made contact with the outside world for thousands of years, so their knowledge about things concerning it was severely outdated.

According to Cecily though, although nearly all ancestors who explored died quickly, those that survived came back mult.i.tudes stronger.

It is true what they say, the greater the risk, the greater the reward.
