Prologue
Deep within the the pouring rain
With lifeless eyes, the old man is alone, silently looking at the raindrops from the window of his room.
The pleasant cool air slowly steals the warmth from his body.
At the same time, note the apparition of a soul leaving an impression.
“It should end anytime now……”
He mutters while entrusting himself to that feeling.
His hair was a weary white, and his proud beard is no longer glossy.
One can’t really feel any liveliness in his dull complexion.
It’s quite a miserable story, he snorts to himself.
His life right now, is about to cross the border and end within this small hut.
Looking back, it was a long life yet it felt too short.
Fortunately, this remaining time is just enough.
He was a magician that served a certain kingdom.
To have high and sophisticated magic, he learnt to cast from childhood, he furthered his sights in the world and went on a journey.
In the middle of that journey, he became a member of a kingdom, and his talent was made well-known.
And for the sake of great magic, he lived for hundreds of years, pushing forward along the road of wizardry and became famous.
No doubt, his superior magic brought forth many great contributions to the glory of the kingdom.
In the process, in his study of magic, it was rumoured that his knowledge in the subject brought him closer to becoming G.o.d.
His teachings to the people brought the land to grow and prosper, as is their pride.
He did what he could.
That this life was lived without regrets… can’t be said but, it was satisfactory enough, it wasn’t all that bad.
Overall, it was a life filled with magic.
As a mage, he made his own choices on what he wanted to do, there may be some conceit, but he’s still satisfied.
And yet, some point, he felt a pang of disappointment.
That there is a little more to life, with the silly little war wounds, and the welcomed mortal death.
If that is so, had he taken taken a limited road?
Since that is the case, if he had to throw his remaining life, until he bets his own last breath, he’ll prove that he had fully devoted it.
It did not take long for him to make a decision.
He bid farewell to his people, and secluded himself deep within the mountains.
There he had a single purpose, that is to finish his last research.
Right now, the results are coming to fruition, the mysteries will be uncovered.
He made it.
Holding those thoughts, he closed his eyes.
“Magic Operation Confirmation… Activate… Keeper of the world, open the gate. Listen to my wish. For this ultimate magic, I shall let it consume my life in this moment…”
Lying on the floor, he prays.
Just then, the magic was completed.
The magic drew every bit of his life force, burning it up.
However, he had no intention to leave even one piece of regret.
There may be countless people gathered, could there possibly be someone with an unparalelled mana, he will exhaust his magic to find that.
Around the old wizard, the world was engulfed in the blinding light of magic reaching several kilometers as if it would reach the heavens, bringing the light up to the sky.
The light pierced the sky, it will open the gate.
In this way the old Mage
The curtain closes in his life.
And the magic is completed.
Along with his wishes…
