Chapter 35 - First Nascent Realm Incantation Master 

"What's the legend about?" Since the expressions on Master Liao's face was odd, Lin Haoxue asked out of curiosity. 

"Nothing." Master Liao seemed like he had woken up from recalling something, and the way he looked at Lin Haoxue was weird, he seemed surprised but also scared. Although Lin Haoxue wanted to know about the legend, she knew that at this moment Master Liao wouldn't say anything. Therefore, she stopped asking. "A lot of incantation masters think that a peak willforce user is signified by purple colored willforce, however, that is wrong." Master Liao seemed to be murmuring to himself, yet when he looked at Lin Haoxue again, he spoke to her with a gleam in his eye, "You want to become an incantation master, correct?"

"Yes." This young Master Liao in front of her had a frantic expression in his eyes. It was a solemn expression as if his entire being was entirely dedicated to being an incantation master. This caused Lin Haoxue to be a little scared, however, she still nodded her head seriously. She had to become stronger as only when she became strong enough could she take revenge for past insults to her family and protect her close relatives, her friends, and He Yian who was suffering somewhere out in the world. 

"The path to becoming an incantation master is extremely dangerous." Master Liao said, "If you are careless for even a moment you'll be devoured. In less serious cases, this will just hurt your foundation badly and cause your willforce to be damaged. In extreme cases, everything you know will be gone and you will become nothing more than a living corpse."

"I know."
 
"Then, it's not too late for you to change your mind now."

"No, I won't change my mind. I understand that the path to become strong is filled with opportunities and risks." Lin Haoxue looked at Master Liao with glistening eyes. The expression in her eyes was full of stubbornness and persistence which amazed Master Liao. She didn't seem to be scared of anything. 

"Alright. From now on, I'll teach you. Remember, don't mention to anyone what your willforce's color is until you are strong enough." Master Liao reminded her. "Otherwise, it will be very dangerous for you." 

"Ok, I'll remember that." Lin Haoxue promised. But then, she thought, 'Can it be that my willforce is a taboo?', 'Who exactly are Master Liao and his sister? One would think that they wouldn't want to stay in such a small place like this town since they have such an ident.i.ty. 

"The level of one's willforce and its quant.i.ty are the keys to deciding if one can become an incantation master. One's willforce determines the quality of their condensed incantation seals and the amount they can control." Master Liao explained to her, and said, "Now try to condense an incantation seal."

"Condense an incantation seal?"

"Yes, the first thing an incantation master should do is to condense their own incantation seal. The form of an incantation isn't set in stone, but is shaped by your willforce which will condense in the air and form."

"Oh." Lin Haoxue closed her eyes and felt the energy in the surrounding air. The most obvious form of energy that existed around her was profound power. At this moment, Lin Haoxue felt the advantages of her many elemental profound veins. She had eight-colored profound veins, and she soon felt how all her elemental profound power was moving. Now what she needed to do was not to absorb profound power but to condense it and form it. 

Soon, she raised her arms and moved her fingers. A little bit of energy started to follow her willforce and moved to the top of her fingers. Her internal profound power inside her body was drawing the profound power outside. 

It was easy to describe in words, but it was hard to actually put it into action. Perceiving was easy, condensing was hard. Before she was able to shape her profound power, it had already scattered. She had no choice but to keep trying again and again repeatedly. Time pa.s.sed by and when Master Liao was starting to feel a little bit anxious, Lin Haoxue opened her eyes slowly. 

On her palm condensed a hand seal and gradually incantation seals started to take form. When it first emerged the seals were closely linked with one another and their aura seemed to grow and multiply without end. 

"Unexpectedly, they are incantation seals that are closely linked with one another." Master Liao looked at Lin Haoxue with surprise. The Gold, Wood, Water, and Earth elements mutually reinforced each other. 

No wonder Master Liao was so surprised because this kind of incantation had an extreme persistence. When one used this type of incantation, they would use up less willforce than their opponent since the incantation itself would replenish energy. 

He didn't realize that Lin Haoxue had eight-colored profound veins which were the precondition for one to form such incantations. By using her heavenly-blessed elemental profound veins of course she was able to form such incantation.

"Hum, very good." Master Liao nodded his head and said, "Now you have your own incantation seals, the next step is to form an incantation array. There's two ways: one is to draw on another's experience or you can create your own. You can choose either method." 

"What's the difference?" 

"Drawing on another's experience is always much easier and one can successfully create an incantation array as long as there's an array diagram for it. However, if you choose to create your own incantation array it might not work out even if you put a lot of time into it. But there's an advantage to creating your own incantation array which is that it would be best suited for you. As for how powerful it will be in the end… Well each array is different and depends on how it was formed. Sometimes it might be stronger, sometimes it might be weaker." Master Liao explained. 

"I'll choose to create my own." For Lin Haoxue, only the things that she created herself would be the best. Therefore, of course she chose to create her own.

"Alright, then you can practice yourself." Master Liao showed that he was supportive of Lin Haoxue's decision. 

Lin Haoxue continued to practice forming incantations, therefore she didn't leave the Jiyu auction house. Lin Haoxue moved her ten fingers and ten incantations emerged above her palm, but soon they disappeared into the air. They couldn't materialize for a long amount of time and they always quickly disappeared.

Master Liao came to check on her every once in a while, but he didn't say anything to her. She would or wouldn't become an incantation master depending on if she could form an incantation array. Even though Master Liao had many array charts, Lin Haoxue had chosen to create one for herself so this was something she had to do on her own. 

After non-stop iterations, Lin Haoxue started to realize that the so called incantation array was actually just drawing in the different kinds of energy from the surrounding air for support. It seemed that sealing a tiny thing inside the array was the key to the strong or weak incantation array. Now since she couldn't form an incantation array, she could draw support from some other objects. 
Therefore, Lin Haoxue stopped exploring. 

"What's on your mind?" Master Liao saw Lin Haoxue had stopped practicing, he wasn't mad nor happy, and he asked her patiently. 
"Here's the thing. Master, now no matter what kind of method I use to condense my seals, I can't keep the incantations stable for long. If there's no profound power at all, the incantation will immediately disappear. Therefore, I think that's why if I don't draw support from a medium and keep them contained inside then, in the end, I will condense them all at once?"

"You're finally aware of the problem?" Master Liao didn't seem to be surprised about it. He asked, "What medium do you think is the best?" 
"First of all, it has to be firm, and second of all, it should have an affinity with the surrounding profound power." Lin Haoxue thought and said at the same time. "Then... It can probably only be demon cores." 

"Right, what you think is correct. Incantation masters a long time ago kept exploring and experimenting and eventually realized that demon cores were the best medium. Metals are firm, but they don't have an affinity for profound power. Even though plants do have an affinity, they aren't firm enough so they are not able to bear the energy of incantation seals." Master Liao nodded his head with satisfaction. "According to your strength, you should use a level one or two demon core to try." 

Even though the Jiyu auction house doesn't purchase level one and two demons cores, there were still a lot of them present. Under Master Liao's help, Lin Haoxue obtained twenty level one and two demon cores and started practicing.

The last demon core exploded as well. Lin Haoxue laughed wryly and thought about what was going on. Every time her incantation entered the demon core, it exploded. 

"It's because your willforce is too aggressive and your incantation is overly aggressive as well. Level one and two demon cores can't bear such energy, therefore, they collapsed. You should try a level three demon core." Master Liao suggested. 

Lin Haoxue had her own level three demon cores, but they couldn't bear Lin Haoxue's willforce and incantation either.

It was only until Lin Haoxue took out a level four demon core was she able to contain her aggressive incantations. Lin Haoxue was sad because this demon core was worth a thousand gold coins! But, at the same time, Lin Haoxue realized that even though incantations masters were a n.o.ble occupation, but it was obvious the art cost exorbitant amounts of money. 

As Lin Haoxue practiced non-stop at the Jiyu auction house cultivating her profound power and repeatedly condensing incantations, she completely forgot about time. Soon more than twenty days had pa.s.sed. 

She had now become very familiar with condensing incantation seals. "No, not this time." Master Liao rejected without the slightest hesitation. 

"Stingy." The girl unhappily responded. 

"Thank you, master." Lin Haoxue bowed and thanked Master Liao. Even though for the whole time, she had mostly experimented and studied by herself, Master Liao had given directions at crucial moments when she needed it. Lin Haoxue had no choice but to thank him since this way of teaching was the most suitable for her. 

"Since you call me master, you shouldn't thank me. Are you going back to the academy?"

"Yes."

"Just in time. I will be leaving this place as well." Master Liao said and then took out a name tile with Liao carved into it which was as big as one's palm. "In the future, if anything happens, you can go to any branch of the Jiyu auction house for help. You can show them this name tile and they will help you." 

"Brother!" The girl next to him was obviously was very surprised that he would give Lin Haoxue something so important. 

"This is too precious, I cannot take it." Lin Haoxue was very smart, so she immediately realized the importance of this name tile.

"That's ok, take it. Take it as a gift from master. It might be a long while till we see each other again." Master Liao insisted on giving it to her.

"Don't be too relaxed and forget to practice incantation techniques." 

"I won't, Master." Lin Haoxue took the name tile and didn't say anything else. She didn't use words to express grat.i.tude but remembered his grat.i.tude in her mind. 

After saying her farewells to Master Liao, Lin Haoxue walked toward Profound Pract.i.tioner Academy. 

On her way to the academy, unexpectedly, she found out that her Incantation Law book had quietly unlocked. As it turns out, only when one became an incantation master would the book be able to be read. 

Inside Lin Haoxue was filled with joy. Moreover, she could feel that her ability to perceive her surrounds had improved greatly.
