"...um may I ask what are these for?" Luna ask looking at the stack of boxes that was shoved into her hands.
"Well we just agreed on the terms of your party leave and it's destination and as it is convenient and will save me a couple silver. so as you went around completing my task, I want you to deliver that completely safe and normal package to a couple locations, oh the red box is for your father." Said Emilia, stretching lazily on her chair.
Hearing that made Luna smiled bitterly remembering the disaster brought by the last package this woman gave.
"Then I accept this request, I shall deliver the package safely." and hope it doesn't summon a h.e.l.l hound, death slime, and grim lord like last time. Is what she didn't add as she store the package into her storage ring.
Exiting the room, she sigh in relief. She doesn't know how come her extremely protective father could entrust her to the care of that woman or even the fact that she is her father's sworn sibling.
Back in her room she is quickly greeted by the caring voice of her best friend.
"How was the meeting? Did it go well?"
"Mostly, we just got a bit of extra work to do along the way."
"Oh? What are they?"
"Nothing much, just a bit of problem solving and packages delivery." Luna said before slumping on her bed.
"Oh yeah, we won't be going on our original route, Miss Emilia set us a new course to finish her task more efficiently. We will only visit South River City on our way back." She informed with her voice m.u.f.fled by her pillow then sigh deeply.
"What's with the sigh? Did you miss that boy that much?" A memory of the boy flashes in her mind but she dismissed it along with Stephanie's tease with a tired wave, but a small smile is on her face at the thought.
She does not understand why, she has smelled nicer smells but the boy's scent always seem to linger in her head. the same happen with the time they spent together like the time he smiled so innocently when he cast his first spell, even if it is not perfect.
At that time she was so lost in her thoughts she did not realize the grin her friend had as she watches her wiggling tails and twitching ears.
.. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ..
Frowning at the book in his hand, he couldn't help but look up at the thing humming near the furnace.
It has been a month and a few days now according to the homunculus status. The previous [core rejection (-100% all regen)] had transformed into [50% Damaged Core (-50% all regen, -50% core efficiency)].
He had been digging through books for information on how to repair it but the method he found is implausible for him as he doesn't know the materials used to make this homunculus.
Other than that in this one month he had been rushed to learn a couple magic he deemed unnecessary as he was a puppet. Said magic are ignite, cleanse, create water, dry, shift earth, and purge.
He learned those to release him from h.e.l.l, first he had to make a small rectangle are with shift earth then fill it with coal using earth to stone before lightening it with ignite to keep the room temperature warm so the thing stop shivering and sneezing.
The next problem are the natural metabolism, from time to time he would need to clean the thing manually as it just leak and p.o.o.p in the clothes he put on her, but that end after he learned cleanse, dry and purge. No more scrubbing clothes, no more drying wait, and no more foul stench from the wastes!
Although the core efficiency is drop by 50% the thing seem to produce sufficient energy as it no longer drops but it is also a shame as the thing learning prowess is reduced along with it. The thing seem to mimic most of the things he does and have taken an interest in reading, it was funny at first since it doesn't seem to be able to read a single letter but after he taught it how to read the thing could do the task faster than he does.
By teaching the thing he have also realized something he had overlooked. The books he'd been reading are all in different languages from earth but he understand and know all of them, so he also taught the thing english to be their own personal code.
What made him felt it was a shame is that anything the thing learned, he learned it too and vice versa. Although the thing doesn't seem interested in magic it certainly helps with other subjects.
What fascinated him is that they doesn't just share the knowledge but the skills gained from it, for example the thing could use his system inventory and also it can use magic it never saw or learn such as shadow dive. The thing also seem to know his thoughts even before he voiced it and it seems to be learning about emotions from those trashy love novels.
More things to be note about the creature are it's scales and eyes, it's scales seems quite hard and durable and it won't cause a problem in public as it could retract them under it's skin without losing its effects. As for it's eyes, the first time it was awake again it's eyes are grey, it was emotionless just as it's stoic face but after it starts learning about emotions the color of its eyes start changing depending on its emotions like an emotion stone but alas it is still mostly grey.
But enough with the discoveries, what made him frown right now is the fact that he has been weakened, he is not confident he could brought it out of here unharmed in his current state. He had thought about abandoning it but when he do the thing would quickly stick to him with it's eyes turning white, so he always cast the idea aside.
This past month researching is not the only thing he does, he also slaughter some monsters for RP since he figured that it seems kind of like remnants of a creature soul, but even using it through the system he could only reduce his soul damage by 2% and that's only by going everyday.
He could just spent more time until it is healed but he rather not, watching the thing doing mortal needs such as breathing or sleeping, he realized that he had stopped doing those. his mindset becoming less human and more puppet. He has to get out before he completely lose his humanity.
With that thought he closed the book in his hand and store it into the backpack and the thing stand up and does the same for it's book before storing the backpack. He didn't need to say anything before the thing pulled out two copper short swords, one for him and one for itself.
He's quite proud making these even though it's without permission and just using the leftover metals from his broken weapons.
The count down has ended, the decision been made, they both strode out the double doors into the danger of the dungeon. It is time for the ascend to the top to begin.
