My love,
Virat, you're receiving this letter on Christmas. So firstly, "Merry Christmas my love." I'm sure we've already made plans for today. Can't wait to see you.
This letter is to formally ask you out to be my date for New Year's eve at the beach themed party happening at G city. What better way to welcome the new year than with my love!
So pack your bags and get ready. We'll be leaving on the 30th.
Don't start off your drama now. We're going and that's it. It's probably the last year I'll be celebrating New Year's eve as your girlfriend.
See you soon.
Love,
Maya
PS: Hope you liked my present.
Fingers crossed.'
----------------------
By the time Virat finished reading the letter, his eyes swam with tears. 'Maya what kind of a prank is this. I don't even know where you are and you send this letter and party pa.s.s? What's happening here?' He was totally confused.
He hugged the letter to his chest and consoled himself. 'Okay Maya. I'll attend this party. Now I'll hope that you'll be there Maya. Of course you should be there and prove that all this was just a bad dream. I want you back May also. ' Though he didn't believe in crossing fingers, involuntarily he crossed his fingers just like how Maya would do always.
He went out of his room and walked towards the girls dormitory to find Sanvi and inform her about the letter. The college was closed for Christmas vacation.
He walked to the girl's dormitory and spoke to the incharge there.
"Good afternoon Ma'am. Could you please call Sanvi from Room Number 111 please."
"Sure. Please wait outside." the incharge replied in her usual stern tone.
While he was waiting for Sanvi to come, he remembered the memories attached with Room Number 111, how he would always come looking here for Maya since she and Sanvi were roommates.
The way Maya would sneak out of her room to go on a long drive at night with Virat. Their late night talks after that. Those midsummer night walks with ice creams.
"Virat?"
Virat heard a girl's sweet voice from behind. He immediately snapped out of his thoughts.
"Hi Sanvi. Merry Christmas!" Virat greeted Sanvi with a hug.
"Merry Christmas Virat!" Sanvi greeted Virat.
She could sense that he was not okay but pretending to be alright.
She paused and asked him, "What's wrong Virat? Are you alright?"
Virat didn't speak a word but handed the envelope to Sanvi.
"What's this Virat?" Sanvi asked looking at the envelope in her hand.
"Open it and see," was Virat's short reply.
After reading the contents of the envelope, Sanvi seemed to have remembered something. "Oh yes Virat. I was there with Maya when she planned this. We did this two months ago. But I'd totally forgotten about this."
"What? Two months ago?" Virat seemed shocked.
"Yes Virat. She had tried really hard to get this party pa.s.s. Just like she's stated here in the letter, she wanted to surprise you with this on Christmas, that is today." Sanvi explained.
She continued, "That's how you've got this letter exactly today. But we don't even know where is she? What are you going to do with this Virat?"
"I'll attend this party Sanvi. Actually you'll be coming with me too. We'll attend this party and see if we can probably spot her there. For the mischievous girl she is, what if we find her there?" Virat suggested.
"You are right Virat. That's the best idea. Let's do this." Sanvi smiled.
"She better have a good explanation if we do find her there." Virat felt slightly happy with the letter in his hand. He had the feeling of being just one step away from Maya...
