He continued, "By the way wifey, does your head hurt? Since we are at the hospital, I can ask the doctor to check on you. Shall we?"
Jayne immediately opened her eyes refusing him, "No No Ronnie I'm fine. Please not a doctor again." She was grumbling.
Ronnie lovingly ran his hand through her long hair and said, "Fine you win! We'll just wait for Da Nuru to come."
Just after that Da Nuru's doctor walked out of the room. Ronnie and Jayne got up. The doctor said, "Nothing to worry. Both of them are fine. Just minor bruises. I've prescribed ointments and painkillers. You can get them discharged and leave since it doesn't require them to stay here."
Ronnie thanked the Doctor and asked, "Doctor can they travel? We've our flight scheduled in an hour."
"Sure not a problem. They can. If there's nothing else, I shall leave since there are many patients coming in due to the emergency. Please excuse me." The doctor left.
Ronnie and Jayne went to Da Nuru's room. His wife was lying on one bed with bandages at some places. Da Nuru was lying in the bed next to her and he was also treated for his wounds.
"Brother Nuru? How are you feeling now? Does it hurt a lot?" Jayne worriedly asked him after seeing their bandages.
"Sister we're fine. Don't worry." Da Nuru smiling answered her.
Jayne then said, "Brother we've decided that you both will be coming with us too. We can't leave you both here all by yourself. Plus your shop is destroyed too. Please don't refuse. Stay with us until things get better."
Da Nuru comforted his worried sister. "Sister Jayne, listen all this is very common to us here. I've been through this multiple times. You don't have to worry about us. We'll be fine soon. But I've to thank those soldiers who saved us."
Jayne asked him, "Exactly brother, how was it that you both escaped unhurt?"
Da Nuru was fighting back his tears, " Everything happened all of a sudden. The soldiers were doing their usual patrolling. We were standing outside and sending you off when an explosive was thrown at our side. The soldier who was right next to me immediately sprang into action to save us and people around us with his equipments. He covered us while saving us exposing himself to the danger. Thus, he was the one who was actually hurt."
He continued, "We were so shocked due to the close proximity of the danger that we forgot to react. The explosion blurred our vision we couldn't see anything. We were even feeling giddy. The first thing I saw when I opened my eyes was you crying out loudly. I checked on my wife and since even she was quite fine, I woke her up and ran towards you."
Jayne said, "All thanks to that brave soldier. If not for him," he paused and then continued, "I don't even want to imagine that."
What they didn't know was, it was the same soldier whom Jayne had comforted to have a peaceful death was the one who had saved Da Nuru, his wife and two other people. A soldier indeed is a hero.
