The chaos of the battlefield that James had initially been reveling in, was now causing him no small level of frustration. As close ranged physical Avatar's clashed, as James dodged explosive Holy Hand Grenades, and as The Knight's Who Go Ni faced off against Soul Demon and his party of level 40+ players, James was doing his darndest to find Skar and the Boss Slayers. He had an idea, and he needed their help for it. Well, more appropriately, he needed Gno-More's help.
Oddly enough, it wasn't his own players that finally helped him find the Boss Slayers, but instead a random cry from one of BLANKs players. Something about being blinded from needles to their eyes. Followed by another cry regarding a needle to a kneecap. Gno-more, it seemed, was really starting to live up to his Acupuncturist cla.s.s, especially when combined with his a.s.sa.s.sin skills and cooldowns. Which was great, because James was really looking forward to his new plan.

"Boss Slayers" He called out as he neared the small batch of combat. Skar had swirling bits of green and grey energy flowing around him, a dread aura that effectively drained life and energy from enemy players. He was holding off two of BLANKs players as Manly and Gno-more went to town on a few others. One of the enemy players had two needles stuck in their eyes, and a blind status flashing on their health bar. Another had a needle in the back of his knee, with a movement impair icon on his health bar. The blinded player was the enemy party's healer, while the incapacitated one was a tank. Manly and Gno-More were now dealing with a squishy mage, and a ranger. Neither of which had much of a chance.
"Do you need something?" Skar grunted as he blocked an attack from one of his two opponents. The players from BLANKs side were a few levels lower than Skar and his party, but two on one was still a tough task. Especially because James could tell Skar and the others were growing tired. James wasn't sure how long the battle had been ranging on, minutes, hours, but either way, the ma.s.s amount of destruction, chaos, and combat was definitely growing exhausting. Even James was feeling his mind grow fuzzy. He could really do with a nap. But first, they needed to win this battle, as a first step towards winning the war.
"The Candied King is throwing his players at us."
Skar looked around, at the fighting going on all around them, and shrugged, as if to say, 'no s.h.i.t.'. James shook his head and sighed.
"No, literally. Those Holy Hand Grenades are the death orbs of his players. He's got a group of low leveled players at his feet being used as cannon fodder."
"Man. Why would you fight for a Dungeon that just sees you as fodder." Troll'd nocked and arrow and let it fly. The missile whizzed past the players his party was engaged with, and struck another player further on in the forest, who had been sneaking up on a different party of James's. Even as that player fell, Troll'd was preparing another arrow, for another unsuspecting target.
"I mean, your deaths do usually help us grow stronger." James responded without thinking, drawing a concerned look from the Monster Hunter. From the response, James realized Troll'd hadn't process who it was he was speaking to.
"Right." The Troll player cleared his throat. "How can we help you oh mighty Mad Mage?"
James offered him a sheepish smile. He was going to like this. "Do you know, does DCO have falling damage?"
"Uh, not that I know of." Troll'd let another arrow fly. "I don't think anyone has really tried yet though. Why…."
James nodded, his mind running through the options. If there wasn't any falling damage, this would work out great. If there was… well, he could at least mitigate it. Most MMOs that did incorporate falling damage actually did it as a percentage based on your health, not as a flat rate. Obviously, that meant the formula, at the greatest amount, would equal only 100% of something's max HP. So, if James was able to, say, create something to absorb that full 100%...the player falling would take no damage. This was totally going to work.
"I need your help to take out those players." Killing the players outright would at least limit how many more attacks The Candied King could make. After all, death orbs only stuck around for a small amount of time, and James was guessing the Candied King's attack had a 20 to 30 second cooldown, judging by the frequency with which he was launching them. That, or he was being extremely particular about how he was aiming.
"What's the plan?" Skar asked as he cut down one of the players in front of him. The other one wasn't looking so good, and James could tell Skar's deathly aura had nearly drained all of that player's health. That was why Death Knights and Dread Knights made such great tanks. Especially for PvP. Their health pool could be sustained quite easily, at the detriment of their opponents.
"I was hoping we could throw your Gnome at the enemy Avatar. When he lands, he goes to town killing off as many of those players as he can?" It wasn't the best idea. And it was technically a suicide mission….buuuut, it was the only thing James could think of.
"You want to throw Gno-more behind enemy lines?" Troll'd glanced from Skar, to Gno-more, and then looked back at James. "Like, seriously pick him up, and throw him?"
"Pretty much." James shrugged. "I mean, at least this way I'm not killing him before throwing him."
"Because that's so much better than what they're doing." Troll'd shook his head. His bow glowed for a second, and a shot fired much larger and faster towards an enemy player. The attack crit on the player, causing him to burst instantly into a glowing orb.
Honestly, James had wanted to throw the entire party, or at least something else towards BLANK. Unfortunately, he didn't have the summoner points to make any Sacrificial Lambs, and his catapult wouldn't reach anyways. However, Gno-More's small size meant that James's 25ft Avatar would be able to throw the player quite easily, and quite far. Plus, he didn't have to be too accurate, because he knew Gno-More's cla.s.s had skills that would allow him to get up close and personal with the enemy players in no time.
"Sometimes you have to do some crazy things, in order to win."
"What do you think Skar?" The party had finished off the rest of the players that were fighting them, and Skar let his aura drop for a moment. Gno-more was walking closer to James as they all spoke, the gnome's face an expressionless mask. Whatever he was thinking, James had no idea.
"It's up to Gno-more. But if it will help end this battle… It might be worth it. Besides, it could probably work?" The last part was said more as a question than a statement. Honestly, James was with them, he had no idea if this would work. And he didn't like the idea of being like BLANK and throwing his players around like they were simply a resource. But if Gno-More could pull this off, well it could be huge.
"If, if you think it'll be helpful to our entire side." Gno-more looked up at James, his face set. "Then I'm down to try it." He offered a grin towards the rest of his party. "Anyone want to take any bets on if I can blind The Candied King before I hit the ground?" Two needles flashed into existence in his hands as he twirled them.
"I will give you an entire day's worth of gold if you can do that." Manly the Dwarf slapped Gno-more on the back, letting out a heavy chuckle.
"Same." Troll'd said, offering the gnome a smile. James knew they often bickered, and argued and poked fun at each other. But it was obvious they were a close party, and cared about each other. James really felt slightly dirty about doing this, but again, had no choice.
"Right, well then." James pointed towards the ground, a summon circle appearing. He had resisted summoning a d.i.c.ken for himself as he had formulated this plan. Figuring instead he would link the d.i.c.ken to Gno-more. That way, if there were falling damage, the d.i.c.ken would take the damage, not Gno-More. Plus, it also meant James could keep essentially healing Gno-more while the acupuncturist did his job. Probably not as much as he would be healing Monty Python, whom James had been constantly stopping to cast healing spells on. Currently, James hadn't found the limit to the range on his heal spells, and he wondered if the distance was amplified as a part of him being an Avatar, just as the stats on the summoned mobs was amplified. Either that, or it was like some MMOs he had played, where pet cla.s.ses could simply heal any of their pets from any given range. Which would be a bit OP in his opinion, but something he wouldn't complain about here and now. He needed any advantage he could get.
With his d.i.c.ken summoned, and linked instantly to Gno-More, James crouched down, holding out a palm for Gno-More. To his credit, the acupuncturist didn't even hesitate. He had made up his mind, he was resolved to do this, in order to help not just his party, but the entire instance, in this dungeon war. Honestly, James had to admit, Gno-more seemed to have really taken Z's words to him earlier to heart.
"Don't let my d.i.c.ken die while I'm away." Gno-more called down to his party as James stood back up, Gnome in hand. "And remember the bet." The gnome had his two needles at the ready, his eyes fixated on The Candied King. Appropriately, the Avatar was looking back towards James, a glowing orb in his hand, preparing another attack. James could see the boss's eyes narrow as BLANK tried to focus on what James was doing. Then, even as The Candied King pulled back his hand, James pulled his own back as well. A moment later, they both let their attacks fly. The Candied King lobbing another Holy Hand Grenade towards James, James sending a high-speed Gnome through the air, directly at The Candied King. A glint of light on metal flashed as Gno-more, mid-flight, threw his two needles at the Candied King. The Avatar's hands clutched instantly at his eyes.
"d.a.m.n. He actually did it." Manly muttered, even as the group rushed out of the way of the incoming attack from the Candied King. James's mirth was short lived though, as the d.i.c.ken he had summoned to keep Gno-More poofed out of existence.
"Guess there is falling damage. Who knew?" He chuckled uneasily, praying to the G.o.ddess of Luck that Gno-More would be able to complete the main part of his task. It was up to the little gnome now.
