Chapter 174

"It's splitting again!" James called out as he simultaneously cast a healing spell onto 'Monty Python'. All around him, players, mobs, and bosses waged war against each other. It was pure, utter, chaos. James wasn't sure what viewers of the Dungeon Wars feed were seeing, but he was pretty sure everyone had to be asking the same questions. What the h.e.l.l was going on.

At first, the rush into the forest, while chaotic and unexpected, had at least made sense, to probably James, Rue, and his players, if not viewers. They were heading, full force, into the unknown, to attack BLANK and whatever forces they had brought to…bear… against James's Random Dungeon. Upon contact with the enemy though, everything that made sense had been blown out the window.

The Giant Bear, called the Gummi Bearhemoth, was the third-floor boss mob for BLANK's dungeon. Because of BLANKs own dungeon level, the Gummi Bearhemoth was a couple of levels above James's own third floor boss mob, Grandma Jenkins. Of course, with the Avatars from both side on the field, and essentially all of James's players rushing towards war, those few levels didn't make much of a difference. At least, stat wise they didn't.

Unfortunately, those extra levels also meant BLANK had more upgrade points to put into their boss mob. True to BLANK's nature, they had upgraded their third-floor boss in the cruelest, most difficult manners possible. Needless to say, the ma.s.sive Bearhemoth had not only excellent defensive stats, including magical defenses, but its health pool seemed to be ridiculous as well. That wasn't the biggest issue with the third-floor boss though. No, the worst part, was that it seemed to split apart once it took a certain amount of damage, making smaller versions of itself.

"Devour them all." Rue shouted from atop 'Monty Python' as the snake rushed towards the bear. This was the third time it had split, meaning instead of one, 40ft tall bear, they now had a total of eight 10 ft tall gummi bears to fight. Worst of all, it seemed that the smaller they got, the faster they became, making them even more dangerous. They also had a slew of other abilities, but James really didn't have the time to focus on them.

"Round them up and smother them." James yelled back. He watched his spell wash over the Plaython, healing its ma.s.sive health pool by a tad. It was really a good thing it had as much HP as it did. Not only did the durned gummi bears seem to have a caustic debuff and DOT effect for anything that the gummi bears covered with their own gummi flesh, but the forest was full of more than just one surprise waiting for James and his army. BLANK, had brought an army of its own. An army of mobs.

True to form, BLANK did not seem to be wanting to take any chance of their players messing up the Dungeon Wars. Sure, there were plenty of BLANKs players mixed within the forest. However, breaking into the fog of war, they discovered a veritable army of BLANKs mobs waiting for them, along with every boss mob that BLANK had remaining as well. Day three, a day meant to last for a whole 24 hours of battle, was currently devolving into one large, b.l.o.o.d.y ma.s.sacre.

If James had to guess, BLANK, upon being summoned, and after chasing down Axel42, had returned back to their own sp.a.w.n area, and had a little talk with their players. Given how overpowered and ruthless the dungeon had been, James had no doubt it was rather easy for BLANK to incorporate their actual personalities into their Avatars. And, if the Avatar for the extremely deadly dungeon was demanding players use their essence to summon certain mobs, in order to ensure victory, well James figured many of the players had been more than happy to oblige. After all, in the end, all that likely mattered for many of them was they won the dungeon war, so they could reap all the benefits. If the Avatar and mobs were going to do a lot of the hard work for them, that was just a plus.

James's forces had their own mob army though, consisting predominately of overpowered d.i.c.kens, which was the only reason why the battle was currently locked in what appeared to be a stalemate. Their charge into the forest had met an indomitable wall of tough Da Breakers, speckled with a groups of tanks and healers from BLANK's players. Behind them, Snickerers, a third-floor mob from BLANKs dungeon with traits similar to his own Funky Monkey's, launched debuffs into James's forces. Past that, BLANK had summoned more of the skittlers and Gloomi Umi Bears, mobs from BLANKs first floor, that were benefitting from upgraded versions all the way through BLANKs third floor. One of the differences between James's random mob type, and a set mob type. BLANK could keep upgrading their mobs, James couldn't.

Spread out amongst all of these mobs, which were doing their best to thrash James's forces, were BLANK's players. Or at least, a h.e.l.luva lot of them. James could see more further in the forest, as well as forces near BLANK's Avatars, which meant there were players that were staying back and letting their summoned mobs do the fighting for them. BLANK was also still killing off their own players, in order to launch Holy Hand Grenades into James's forces. His army, it seemed, had rushed headfirst into quite the defensive setup.

"We can in a minute. Still waiting to finish the latest group." While BLANK had been prepared for at least some sort of offensive action form James, they had been unable to predict just how crazy of an attack James and his adventurers could actually make. The 100ft Giant Plaython was abusing its Ssssssssssssssssleepy skill, quickly encircling large groups of enemies with its ma.s.sive form, while its head and the portion with Rue were doing work on the Gummi Bearhemoth. Combined with Struggle Snuggles, a sizable number of adventurers and mobs alike had fallen to the giant constrictor. Its skill and size of course made it a ma.s.sive target, which was also why James was constantly pumping healing spells into the d.a.m.ned thing. It was all he could do to keep the thing above its 50% health mark, though it was a losing battle. Eventually, the Giant Plaython was going to drop below the threshold, which would mean the damage Rue was taking would stop being decreased by 25%.

That was what James as the most worried about. Especially because while the Giant Plaython had ridiculous stats right now, James and Rue's defense stats, and their HP, weren't quite as impressive. Which was why the Giant Plaython had been taking even more damage than it should have been. While the attacks against it were like small ticks of damage, anything ma.s.sive that hit Rue was getting transferred to the Giant Plaython. And if there was one other target players seemed to be enjoying attacking, other than the Giant Plaython, it was Rue.

She was, likely intentionally and unintentionally, drawing all of the attention. Part of that was because she was a 25ft white tiger beastkin riding atop a 100ft Giant Plaython. Part of it was likely the ma.s.sive, icy aura that circled around her, completely useless considering it was just a cosmetic piece, but still alarming, especially for those who didn't know it was cosmetic. And finally, because she insisted on letting out extremely loud roars, and screaming insults and vulgarities, as she went to town in a cla.s.sic berserker fashion with her ma.s.sive axe.

Between her and the Giant Plaython, James was feeling pretty invisible. Of course, he had summoned himself a d.i.c.ken with his final available point, and linked it to himself, just in case he did take any ma.s.sive damage. Better safe than sorry, after all.

"We need to finish this bear off, so we can advance our forces." James called out as he glanced around. His players had blasted past the defensive line, though they'd suffered a decent number of casualties. Healers had been blowing their cooldowns left and right, but there were just so many players that it didn't seem to matter. As long as you were within the bulk of the army, there was a good chance you were going to get revived if you went down.

The same could be said of BLANK's forces though, which was why combat had quickly shifted pace. Now, players were banding together into packs, with their mobs on either side fighting each other while the players did their best to bring down the healers from the other side. If you could nuke the healer, you could take out the rest of the party. It was basic MMO PvP tactics, just on a ma.s.sive scale. The real question James had currently, was which army had more healers? And which army could protect their healers the best. Because that was going to play a huge factor in determining who walked out of this forest alive.

"-Incoming." Z's voice cut off Rue, and James looked hesitantly towards the sky, wondering what exactly the leader could be yelling about.
