Chapter 133

Even though James's mobs, his environment, and his players were doing all they could, he was certain the instance was going to go to the invaders. At least, if the invaders were smart. After all, the players who were being killed would only have to wait outside of the dungeon entrance for a small amount of time, during their death penalty, until they could run back in and rejoin the fight. That meant invaders would need to get in, gain as much essence as they could, and leave.

A quick scan also showed him that even more of his instances now had invaders within them, and also many had players of his own that had invaded the enemy dungeon. A quick check outside of his dungeon, also showed an increase of players waiting outside, likely in an effort to join in the dungeon wars as fast as possible. Without a doubt, the dungeon wars were garnering a lot of attention.

Having no ability to watch the dungeon wars from the live streams, therefore, was a bit annoying. He was really curious to see just what was going on in BLANKs world, and what all the wars would have in store. James was also curious what exactly the live streams would show. Was the stream being manipulated to only show BLANK's forces destroying and thwarting James's? Or did the streams just flash between points of excitement, like old TV shows following multiple police or rescue units did that were claimed to have multiple live streams showing at once? Either way, James knew he wouldn't truly know unless someone told him, or after the war. That being said, he had the next best thing.

"Shall we check on our own brave adventurers?" James motioned a tentacle at the flashing screen he had pulled up. As much as he was tempted to go straight to the third floor instance, he knew that one would likely be a bust. From what he had learned about BLANK from the forums, the siblings had made their floors extremely difficult, meaning James's players likely had no chance of making it far in BLANKs third floor. That aside, he was certain his groups could probably fair well across the first and second floor. And he just so happened to already have a window up following a group across the first floor.

"h.e.l.l yeah, Candyland." Rue called out in confirmation, a baggy of sour gummy worms in her hand. She was definitely looking forward to the sweets-based dungeon. James was too, if not for the mob type. He was more so curious how exactly BLANK had crafted their dungeon. Afterall, the possibilities were endless.

"Alrighty then." Without another word, he selected the window that contained the group of brave adventurers that had dove into the first floor of BLANKs dungeon. As he had figured, the group he saw consisted of five players, meaning the portals teleported parties to random portions of the floor. That meant you never knew if you were going to invade right next to an enemy or a boss, or in a random area, such as a corn field.

"Well, this is not what I was expecting." As he took in the scenery around the adventurers, who were proceeding cautiously through the floor, he didn't really know what he was looking at. From what he had read online, James had been expecting a dark, terrifyingly difficult dungeon. What he was looking at instead, was completely different.

The dungeon seemed to be a hybrid of open expanses and narrow tunnels jutting about. From what he could see, the group of adventurers he was following were in a ma.s.sive, brightly lit clearing. A glance at the screen showed him his other adventurers were somewhere else in the dungeon, though he didn't warp to them. He was too interested in the scene he was viewing.

The party was standing atop a colorful pathway, that seemed to be lined with cotton candy fences, and tiled over with a hard-circular candy, similar to smarties. It seemed the area had trees that appeared to be made of candy canes, with branches outstretched coated with fluffy cotton candy as well. Other trees stood tall with lollipop style leaves and branches. Through the middle of the floor, running from one area to the other, a ma.s.sive river of chocolate flowed.

"Which way should we go?" The highest leveled member of the group asked his party. James looked over his stats real quick, noting he was a level 16 warlock. The cla.s.s specialized in summoning demons and using magic, both of which could be valuable for the party. In fact, the warlock had a medium sized pit devil walking beside him, which was used as a tank mob. The other members of the party contained a knight, a warrior, a priest, and a fighter.

"Should we follow the candy road?" The knight motioned down the pathway, which seemed to lead towards a dark tunnel. The mouth of the tunnel appeared to have colorful boulders outside, which James guessed were jawbreakers. Their color scheme just fit too perfectly with the shields he had seen the invaders using.

"I suppose." The warlock looked around at his party, as his eyes scanned the expanse. In order to follow the pathway, they needed to walk across a gingerbread bridge that spanned over the chocolate river. "Keep your eyes out for any players or mobs." The warlock ordered.

"One gold coin says the mobs are made of candy." The fighter chuckled as he drew both of his swords. James guessed he was planning on becoming a blade dancer or duelist once he hit level 20, considering his choice of swords. Both were curved scimitars, though the blades had streaks of red running through the metal. It seemed he had upgraded them with infernal iron that could be found on James's first floor.

"I'm looking out for oompa Loompas." The priest mentioned, drawing a strange look from the rest of his party. He opened his mouth to explain but shook his head. "You guys make me feel so old sometimes."

James, also seemed to miss the reference, and he glanced at Rue, wondering if she had any explanation. It seemed she did, considering the wide grin she flashed him at his look.

"I've got another riddle for you." She laughed and stuck her tongue out at him but didn't provide him with a further explanation. He was sure he could look the answer up online when he had some down time. After all, he could find anything on the internet.

The party took on a pretty safe marching order, with the knight in the front, followed by the fighter, warlock, priest, and then the warrior taking up the rear with the demon companion. Around the party, their d.i.c.ken pets frolicked too and fro, clucking angrily at each other as they inspected the extremely edible surroundings.

As they neared the bridge, James thought he saw a flash of color from underneath. However, it didn't seem anyone, including Rue, had noticed it. Figuring he may just be seeing things, James held his comment and watched the party. They made it halfway across the bridge, before James once again saw movement. This time, he was certain he saw something, and the look on Rue's face said she saw it too. Unfortunately, it didn't seem like any of the adventurers had noticed it.

"Whelp, this may get interesting." James whispered, seconds before the battle began.
