DCO Patch Notes 1.2- Introducing Dungeon Wars!
Was the forum t.i.tle boldly glowing on DCO's forum homepage. Already, James could see it had a growing amount of comments, as well as quite the view count. Which, considering judging by the timestamp, the update post had just gone live less than 5 minutes ago, was impressive. James figured the ma.s.s automatic interest and excitement on the forum post, was a testament to just how popular DCO had already become, after just three days of in game time.
"Let's just see what exactly I've gotten myself into." James mumbled around his sore mouth as he selected the forum topic. He grimaced at the pain in his jaw but had been spending the day trying to ice it, and lightly ma.s.sage it. His breakfast and lunch of Soylent had been disgusting. He was going to get his jaw better enough to at least eat something, even if it was ramen, before his next immersion session.
DCO Patch Notes 1.2
We already have Dungeons. We already have Dragons. How about we add in some Dungeon Wars?
James let out an audible sigh after that first line, before continuing. Seriously? That was the best they came up with? Had they let go of all their actually creative members? He wouldn't put it past the fun sucker that was Xander.
Greetings, once again brave adventurers. Let us first once again thank all of you for joining us on this grand adventure. As of this moment, DCO is the top played game in immersion across the world, and for that, we thank you. Never did we believe we would hit a milestone like this one, and so quickly. If not for all of you brave, adventurous souls, none of this would be possible.
Now, into the fun stuff.
As everyone knows, the dungeons within DCO will continue to grow in strength and size, as the game progresses. Now, we could be like some game developers, and leave that as the big hook. But we feel we owe it to all of you, the players, to have a little something more.
Already, DCO has interactive environments, an ever changing and growing threat, and ma.s.sive amounts of configuration and character growth. However, there is one thing that DCO has been lacking for the past couple of days, something that we've seen people mentioning quite a few times.
PvP.
Of course, what game doesn't have PvP? What type of MMO can expect to survive purely on PvE? Obviously, we feel DCO could, but when we started developing our game, when our small, humble team-
James had to snort at that line. The action causing another moment of pain. If there was one thing the DCO team wasn't, it was humble.
- first dreamt up this monstrous endeavor, we knew PvP would be key for longevity. The game, after all, needs to be able to please every type of gamer out there, not just one group, no matter how large.
Because of this, and because of the growth we've seen within the game over the past few days, we have decided to do an early release of our next content. That's right, we are going to give you all a little something extra, that we hadn't initially planned to share this early on. We are going to give you all Dungeon Wars!!!!

The added exclamation marks really showed just how hard the development team, likely the control freak Xander, was trying to come across as excited. Though, James knew this was all feigned. And James knew the trigger for the Dungeon Wars wasn't the players, but the core growth instead. Ugh. Just another moment for Xander to make himself seem benevolent to the people. Poser.
Now, we, as fellow gamers, know all of you have got to be excited for this new feature. This new opportunity; the introduction of PvP. Sadly, we cannot give it to everyone right now. That would be most unfair. And the thing we don't want to create in our game, is the chance that any one instance have such an unfair advantage, that the game no longer becomes fun to play. We want our player base to love and enjoy every moment, to want to stay with us, indefinitely. We want you to stay with us, and we will do all we can to make that happen.
As such, we will be releasing Dungeon Wars content in two waves. Wave one, will see the opening of Core Gates, which will allow players in instances to visit other dungeons, and interact with their players, and even dive their dungeons. This will open up trading across instances, and the opportunities for players to give all sorts of dungeons a go and gain unique gear they might not otherwise have the ability to.
The second wave will introduce the actual PvP aspect. Dungeon Wars are just that, wars between dungeons. We could, of course, give all of you a very lengthy and wordy list of details with regards to exactly what that pertains to-
Yes! That was exactly what James needed
-Or, we could put on a show for all of you.
What?
While we mentioned we don't want any instances unfairly getting taken advantage of, or being overpowered when PvP is released, we do have two instances that our data shows have been excelling beyond our estimates. Two instances, in fact, have unlocked level 3 dungeons. A rather impressive feat, and one we feel should be rewarded.
As such, these two instances will have Dungeon Wars unlocked for them on the upcoming immersion, and their war will be broadcast to the inns of all other instances! So, if your curious about what exactly dungeon wars is, sit back, relax, and have a drink, while you watch from the safety of your own DCO instance.
And for the two instances taking part in this reveal, every player will be receiving a copy of the exact details with regards to Dungeon Wars, so that they can prepare for the war. This information will be directly PM'd to each player upon immersion, giving players a full 24 hours to go through the new information, before they can enter their instance fully, and prepare for their grand adventure.
The stage is set, and we, the development team of DCO, will be joining all of our player base, all tens of millions of you, in watching these two instances take to the front lines, and showcase just what a Dungeon War is.
May Yarx guide all of you on your adventurers and endeavors! Until next time, continue conquering your dungeons, for greater glory and wealth! And remember, our 2.0 upgrade will be released after our first month of gameplay! So, give it your all till then. Because who knows what those instances at the top, may receive, when the update is released!
"Son of a b.i.t.c.h." The pain in his mouth was nothing to the fire in his body. That son of a b.i.t.c.h Xander. The developer knew his kids had information on Dungeon Wars. He knew James didn't. And, if he was going to do what James thought he was going to do. Ugh. Well, two could play that way.
Fuming, James pulled up his PMs, and sent a message. Xander could try and d.i.c.k him around, but James wasn't about to let the developer get away with such an underhanded scheme. Besides, James had a way to get the information he needed, even if the developer wouldn't give it to him. And, even better, thanks to Dwight, James had an actual good excuse, to keep from even getting close to breaking the NDA. If No Game No Life had taught James anything, it was that there was always a way to come out on top, no matter what the situation. That was the true potential of being a gamer, of being a human. And James was going to take that to heart and make Sora and Shiro proud.
