Ning Tao had never thought he would face such a predicament. He was certainly not willing to surrender. One reason was because he always stood on the side of good. The other was that he was the owner of Sky Clinic. He would need to enforce the ways of Heaven. To surrender meant that he would be bowing down to wicked forces!

“I know that you will be unwilling. So let me explain…” Jiang Hao drew near to Ning Tao's ear and mumbled some words to him.

Ning Tao knitted brows started to relax. Finally, he smiled. “Okay, I'll listen to you.”

The Howling Celestial Dog's barks resounded outside the door.

Ning Tao seemed to have realized something. He said, “Go out and make the Howling Celestial Dog and Hu Xiaoji behave. Keep them from starting any trouble.”

“Then I really have to go. You'd better leave,” Jiang Hao urged.

Ning Tao unlocked that hidden blood lock on his headboard. Then he walked into the convenient door and returned to Sky Clinic. After that, he left the clinic and merged into the evening scene. He did not bring along his medicine chest, only the key to the clinic.

Half an hour later, Ning Tao appeared at the entrance of a police station in Haidi District.

Since it was night, the police station was nearly empty. There were no sentinels on guard, only an old man in the sentry room. He was watching a TV marketing program. The host was promoting some health products loquaciously.

Ning Tao came to the window and knocked it with his knuckles.

The old man shifted his eyes to Ning Tao. “What's the problem?”

Ning Tao said, “I'm here to surrender myself. Please call the policemen on duty.”

The old man started momentarily before picking up the telephone on the desk.

Soon, two policemen appeared and took Ning Tao into the station.

After a while, a dozen cars arrived at the station. Scores of policemen alighted hastily and entered the police station, including the three “victims”, Song Chengpeng, Lang Wei and Ji Xiaofeng. They all entered with the policemen.

“Does that moron think he will be fine once he surrenders to the police?” In the police station, Ji Xiaofeng walked towards the interrogation room, sneering. “I must let him know beating me is the worst mistake he has ever made!”

Song Chengpeng slightly furrowed his brows. “Xiaofeng, this is the police station. Don't tell them everything. Have you contacted your uncle?”

Ji Xiaofeng seemed unperturbed. “Don't worry, I've already called my uncle. He has made all the arrangements.”

Song Chengpeng said, “That's good. One more thing you have to take note. We must insist that he was our kidnapper, and that he blackmailed us for 10 million.”

Ji Xiaofeng and Lang Wei both nodded.

As they spoke, the three “victims” came to the interrogation room. Outside the gla.s.s wall, there were already many policemen watching Ning Tao's interrogation.

A police officer beckoned the three “victims”. “Come here, the three of you. Is he the one?”

Song Chengpeng, Ji Xiaofeng and Lang Wei all came to the tempered gla.s.s wall, pretending to study the suspect closely.

“Yes, it's him. He was the one who kidnapped us!” Ji Xiaofeng cried agitatedly.

Song Chengpeng said, “We hope that the police will do us justice and punish the malefactor.”

The police officer replied blandly, “Since you three have identified him, he must be the man. As for justice, don't worry. So long as we have evidence, the prosecutor's office will charge him immediately after interrogation. He will be punished by the law.”

At this moment, voices from the interrogation room rang out from the loudspeakers.

The officer continued interrogating, “Do you admit that you kidnapped those three wealthy men and blackmailed them for 10 million? Let me tell you, we've already had enough evidence. Refusing to admit means you will face judicial punishment. Even the fact you had surrendered yourself will be attenuated. You understand?”

The interrogating policeman slammed a palm on the desk. “Still trying to twist facts and distort the truth? The owner of that village inn has already given us a video of you beating them. “Torture?” The policeman glanced at Ji Xiaofeng and frowned. “Don't you know that tortures are prohibited during interrogation?”

Ji Xiaofeng could not accept this. “Officer, could you step aside? I need to talk to you in private.”

The police officer said, “If you have anything to say, say it here. And we have our rules and regulations. Although you are victims, you can't interfere with our interrogation.”

Ji Xiaofeng's complexion had turned ghastly. He had sworn to make Ning Tao suffer a fate worse than death. Yet these policemen had refused to torture Ning Tao and were instead lecturing him, making him lose face.

Song Chengpeng pulled Ji Xiaofeng to one side and whispered, “Will your method work? If not, Lang Wei and I will pull strings through our own connections.”

Ji Xiaofeng was just about to speak, when a senior officer appeared.

The senior police officer walked up with two plain-clothed policemen, greeting them from a distance. “Old Liao, still working overtime? Looks like you will be the winner of our Outstanding Worker Award this year.”

The policemen here all started to hold themselves erect. Some were bowing their heads slightly as a greeting.

Ji Xiaofeng heaved a long sigh of relief. He said to Song Chengpeng, “My uncle's here. Don't worry, everything will be fine.”

It was indeed Ji Xiaofeng's uncle, Zeng Huaiwu. The officer they called “Old Liao” was the commissioner of the district, Liao Bing.

Liao Bing said, “So it's Commissioner Liao. Still inspecting work at this late hour? You're the one who is our role model.”

Liao Bing knitted his brows slightly.

“What on earth are you saying, lad? Don't make anyone misunderstand us. Stand by the side. Let me see that kidnapper. Where is he?” Zeng Huaiwu had already seen Ning Tao in the interrogation room, but pretended not to have.

Ji Xiaofeng raised his arm and pointed at the interrogation room.

Zeng Huaiwu nodded and looked at Liao Bing. “Old Liao, I'd like to interrogate him. Arrange a room for me. If not, your office will do as well.”

Zeng Huaiwu and his two plain-clothed subordinates opened the room door the moment Liao Bing left.

The policemen crowding around the interrogation room all dispersed.

Only then did Zeng Huaiwu enter the interrogation room. He was followed by Ji Xiaofeng, Lang Wei, and Song Chengpeng.

Ning Tao was sitting on a chair, his hands in handcuffs. He watched the six of them enter and a smile appeared on his face. “The policemen just now were good ones. So am I facing bad policemen now?”

Zeng Huaiwu's countenance immediately fell. He had thought this lad in the interrogation room would cower like a mouse seeing a cat upon his entrance. Yet he had mocked them instead!

“You are still so audacious, moron!” Ji Xiaofeng cursed him angrily and suddenly pounced on Ning Tao.

Zeng Huaiwu grabbed Ji Xiaofeng by his arm. “You fool! Look above yourself!”

Ji Xiaofeng hastily raised his head and found himself looking at a surveillance camera. He immediately understood, but still cursed. “Your moron, wait for my revenge. Just you wait!”

Ning Tao said nonchalantly, “When humans act, Heaven is watching. Aren't you guys afraid of retribution?”

Zeng Huaiwu said coldly, “You are still quite complacent, lad. I will make you look like a fool later.”

Ji Xiaofeng watched Ning Tao with a snicker.

Song Chengpeng started to deride him. “Previously, in Dragon Gate Inn, didn't you beat up everyone you like? So why are you so meek now?”

Ning Tao smiled. “I will beat up men like you whenever I like. Remember this: when I leave this place, I will make you beg me on your knees.”

“Hahaha!” Song Chengpeng could not help but laugh. “This is the most absurd joke I have ever heard. d.a.m.n you, are you bonkers? You think you're fit to talk to me?”

Ning Tao only smiled. He appeared too scornful for words.

Liao Bing knocked and entered the room. “Commissioner Zeng, the office is ready. You can bring your man there.”

Zeng Huaiwu nodded and said coldly, “Take him away!”

The two plain-clothed policemen walked up and frogmarched Ning Tao away.
