Chapter 160 A Clinic Worth over Ten Billion?
As soon as he got out of the taxi, Ning Tao saw a Brabus G500 off-road vehicle in a parking s.p.a.ce on the side of the gate. He had been in that car twice. Its owner was Bai Jing, who was standing outside the gate. She wore a white v-neck dress that set off her long legs, slender waist and extraordinary temperament.
The door behind her was made entirely of fine marble, a few meters high, looking grand as the Arc de Triomphe.
Qing Zhui, who wore a long green dress, walked up to Bai Jing. She had fine and peerless features, and perfect figure—the ratio of the length of her head to her height was one to nine. She also had a cool and detached temperament. When the sisters stood together, they made a delightful sight.
“Bai Jing,” Qing Zhui called, her eyes holding a warm and happy look. To her, Bai Jing and Ning Tao were the most important people in the world.
“Qing Zhui.” Bai Jing was also all smiles. She hugged Qing Zhui in her arms.
Ning Tao also walked over, but did not disturb the sisters' embrace.
Then Li Xiaofeng and Xin Zhiyu came out of the gate.
Li Xiaofeng and Xin Zhiyu were still dressed in suits. They stood erect, wore corsages, and exuded an air of n.o.bility. Both of them focused on Bai Jing and Qing Zhui at the same time. They were elegant and had charming smiles, but they ignored Ning Tao standing beside Bai Jing and Qing Zhui.
“You two sisters are like fairies from heaven. Bai Jing, since I met you, other women have become common in my eyes,” Xin Zhiyu uttered affectionately. Although it was a compliment, it sounded natural and unpretentious. In addition, he said it very cleverly, which was equivalent to express his love for Bai Jing.
Bai Jing just smiled and said, “Zhiyu, are you just made of sugar? I might have been touched by your sweet talking a few years ago, but I'm not at the age where I like sweet talk anymore.”
Ning Tao chuckled to himself, “Years ago? Isn't it at least 200 years ago?” But he appeared quite calm, without showing what he felt.
“You may not believe it, Miss Qing. After parting from you last night, I actually dreamed of you.” Li Xiaofeng stared into Qing Zhui's eyes, his eyes eager, as if they could melt snow.
“Really?” Qing Zhui responded matter-of-factly.
Li Xiaofeng kept a graceful smile on his face and said, “Yes, of course. I'll tell you later, if you're interested in it.”
“Sorry, I'm not interested,” Qing Zhui remarked coldly. “And if you did dream about me, it's definitely not good.”
Li Xiaofeng's face changed a little, but then he put on a smile again. “Then we can talk about something else. I'm sure we'll have a lot in common.”
Men had a common problem—the harder it was to get a woman, the more they wanted to chase her. Li Xiaofeng had no interest in women who picked up on him as soon as they knew who he was. Thus the more indifferent Qing Zhui was to him, the more he wanted to conquer her!
Bai Jing leaned into Qing Zhui's ear and whispered something.
Qing Zhui nodded, the look in her eyes changing.
Ning Tao didn't hear what Bai Jing whispered to Qing Zhui, but he could tell that Bai Jing was telling Qing Zhui to do something.
At the moment, Xin Zhiyu and Li Xiaofeng turned their eyes to Ning Tao.
With an intriguing smile tugging at the corner of his mouth, Xin Zhiyu said, “Doctor Ning, is that a medicine chest on your shoulder?”
“Yes, it is,” replied Ning Tao.
“You're such a dedicated doctor, Doctor Ning. Taking your medicine chest to a party like this,” Xin Zhiyu praised hypocritically, still smiling. “However, there is no need for you to worry about a sudden emergency because our Prosperous House has a private doctor who is the best in Guan City.”
His remark was not to be faulted, but it sounded uncomfortable.
Ning Tao just gave a faint smile and said, “Things happen sometimes. Nothing is certain. I always carry my medicine chest, sometimes for curing patients, sometimes for redeeming people.”
“Redeeming people? What do you mean?” inquired Xin Zhiyu curiously.
However, Ning Tao didn't explain.
“Zhiyu, are we going to be here all the time?” Bai Jing asked.
Xin Zhiyu smiled calmly and said, “Please come with me.”
Ning Tao followed Qing Zhui and Bai Jing into the gate and walked down a tree-lined road toward a cl.u.s.ter of buildings. There was no buildings more than one story in the Prosperous House. All were ancient buildings, and made of genuine ancient materials, such as the tiles, the bricks and the wood. A block of ancient buildings was well-proportioned in the huge manor. The layout was exquisite, just like a royal garden.
“My father is a big collector of these ancient buildings. The ancient buildings in the Prosperous House were bought from all over the country,” Xin Zhiyu introduced his home while walking. “We tear down the original buildings, bring their materials back and then rebuild them here. It took my father 20 years to rebuild these ancient buildings in our house, which cost hundreds of millions of yuan. That's all he likes. I, as a son, can only support him. Not long ago I went to a remote village in Yun Province to see an old ancestral temple. If my father likes it, I'll buy it, tear it down and move here to rebuild.”
“Maybe your father wants to retire,” Li Xiaofeng said with a smile. “Zhiyu, get ready to take his position. Your rather has been working hard for most of his life. It's time for him to stop working, enjoy life and play with grandchild.”
“My father gave me an ultimatum. He said that he would hand over Grand Dream Company to me whenever I got married.” When he said this, he gave Bai Jing a deliberate look.
Bai Jing responded with a small but charming smile.
Xin Zhiyu flipped and had a fevered shine to his eyes.
Ning Tao inwardly sighed that the snake demon was no less capable of seducing people than the fox demon. Being with Qing Zhui, he was sometimes so seduced by her that he couldn't calm down and longed to do something pa.s.sionate. As a cultivating doctor, he almost could not resist the temptation of the snake demon, let alone Xin Zhiyu.
“How comfortable Doctor Ning is!” Li Xiaofeng sighed. “Doctor Ning, you don't have that kind of trouble, do you?”
“What do you mean?” Ning Tao asked casually.
Li Xiaofeng chuckled and replied, “You just run a small clinic, not as stressed as Zhiyu and I are. We are responsible for thousands of employees. You never know what a responsibility it is.”
Ning Tao smiled and retorted, “My clinic is much bigger and harder to run than your companies.”
Li Xiaofeng and Xin Zhiyu exchanged glances simultaneously. A second later, they couldn't help laughing.
“You have a good sense of humor, Doctor Ning.” Li Xiaofeng made no effort to hide the contempt on his lips. “If what you said is true, your clinic should be worth over ten billion.”
Xin Zhiyu gave a little snort. Though he didn't say anything, the noise came out of his nostrils with the same contempt and disdain as in Li Xiaofeng's voice.
Ning Tao smiled nonchalantly, not caring. He disdained to explain to Li Xiaofeng and Xin Zhiyu.
In the eyes of ordinary people, their multi-billion family a.s.sets and family companies were of course unattainable wealth, power and social status, but in the eyes of Ning Tao, the owner of the Sky Clinic, they were nothing. He was on the road of cultivation, enforcing justice on behalf of Heaven. It was a road of great value and immeasurable future!
Ning Tao was “good-natured”, but Qing Zhui frowned and scolded, “What are you laughing at?”
Li Xiaofeng replied immediately, “I'm sorry, Miss Qing. But Doctor Ning is so humorous.”
Xin Zhiyu tried not to laugh.
Bai Jing raised her arm and dug her elbow to Qing Zhui's waist. Qing Zhui paused for a moment, then closed her mouth and stopped talking.
Noticing what they did, Ning Tao thought to himself, “Bai Jing is reminding Qing Zhui not to offend Li Xiaofeng and Xin Zhiyu. In her position she has no need of pleasing the rich guys, unless she has some intention towards them. But what can it be?”
It was a brain-challenging question. It was easy to guess what Qing Zhui thought, because she was a simple snake demon. However, Bai Jing was as a circ.u.mspect and fa.r.s.eeing snake demon, and far more complicated than Qing Zhui. How could Ning Tao easily guess her mind?
Qing Zhui's angry words interrupted Xin Zhiyu and Li Xiaofeng's sarcasm to Ning Tao. Instead of continuing feeling superior by comparing Ning Tao, the two men talked about the recent trade dispute that had gripped the world, as well as the opportunities and challenges the domestic semiconductor industry was facing.
Ning Tao didn't show much interest in their topic, and walked silently behind Bai Jing and Qing Zhui towards an ancient building.
The building looked very much like an old high official's living room, with several carved wooden doors. It appeared grand. Several people were standing at the foot of the steps before the door, and in front of them were a man and a woman. According to their clothes and temperaments, it was not difficult to guess who they were—the man should be Xin Zhiyu's father Xin Changjiang, and the woman should be Xin Zhiyu's mother Zhu Hongqin.
Xin Changjiang was a little old, graying at the temples. Zhu Hongqin, however, did not appear old at all but looked like a woman in her early forties. She was well-dressed and exuded the standard ladylike air.
Xin Zhiyu quickened his pace.
Ring, ring…
Suddenly, Ning Tao's phone rang. He stopped and pulled out his phone. The phone number on the screen was Fan Huaying's, which reminded Ning Tao of Fan Huaying's request for help before he went to America.
He tapped the answer b.u.t.ton, and answered, “Huaying, this is Ning Tao. What's up?”
Fan Huaying's voice came from the phone, sounding anxious. “Where are you now, Tao?”
“I am in the Prosperous House in Guan City,” Ning Tao replied.
Fan Huaying seemed surprised and asked, “Are you at Xin Changjiang's house?”
“Yeah, I'm here to accompany my friends to dinner,” Ning Tao explained. “Come to the point. We are friends. There's no need for formalities.”
“It's about the last time I asked you for help. There is a very special patient who needs your treatment,” Fan Huaying stated.
“Where's the patient?” Ning Tao asked.
“We've just arrived at Gang Island and are preparing to fly to Shan City,” Fan Huaying answered. “I'm glad I called you, or we'd be in the wrong place.”
“I don't have a pa.s.s to Gang Island. If it's urgent, you can bring the patient to Guan City,” Ning Tao said.
“Okay, you stay at the Xin family for the time being. We'll be right there,” Fan Huaying said.
“Are you in such a hurry? What's the matter with the patient?” Ning Tao asked.
“Let's talk when we meet,” Fan Huaying said and then hung up.
Ning Tao was silent for a moment before he put away his phone, and then went to the ancient building which was like a hall. He couldn't help wondering in his mind the ident.i.ty of the patient Fan Huaying had brought back from the United States.
