Chapter 190: Is This Really a Well Thought-Out Gift?
“The one who you should really thank is Heavenly King Sheng,” Yao Ran joked. “After all, while this gift may be valuable, it isn’t necessarily well-thought out.”
Her tone may have sounded light and teasing, but there was a hidden stab behind her words. However, the people around them could not help but nod in agreement.
After all, Yao Tang was Sheng Ting’s exclusive ch.o.r.eographer. It was obvious that they had such a great relationship, so it would be easy for her to acquire the alb.u.ms and get his signature.
To thousands of Sheng Ting fans, they were incredibly precious.
Those who did not like the national superstar considered the alb.u.ms worthless.
!!“She’s right, you know.”
“All she has to do was get them from Sheng Ting and wrap them in a nice bag! Isn’t that a bit…ordinary to give to the eldest daughter of the Qin Family?”
“The alb.u.m isn’t worth anything if you did not spend anything.”
“I mean, there’s probably nothing good about the alb.u.m, right? But I feel like Miss Qin would like it more than the other gifts. I mean, gift-giving is all about the recipient, is it not?”
“Sure, but if you have to admit, her gift doesn’t hold a candle to what Miss Yao Ran had given!”
Their discussion echoed across the room.
Qin Jing clenched her jaw as their voices became louder and louder. However, just as she was about to snap at all of them, she couldn’t help but stop at Yao Tang’s cautious gaze. The young woman waved her hand, motioning for her to grab the other gift she had prepared in the bag.
Yao Ran, however, didn’t pay attention to any of this. Instead, she observed the people around her as they sang praises of her gift.
It was expected that Yao Tang would be ridiculed like this. After all, she was simply a student, without any money in her savings account. Even if she had enough cash, it wouldn’t be able to compare to the famous branded handbag given by the Yao Family.
Qin Jing, distracted, glanced inside the bag to see an even smaller box.
She pursed her lips in curiosity as she pulled the box out of the bag. The box had captured the attention of the crowd with its swirled engravings and golden ribbon. Even the container was beautiful.
When she had propped open the box, a necklace dangled over her.
The necklace was silver with diamonds engraved on the center. It glittered under the lights. Qin Jing’s eyes widened.
While it looked simple, it was still a timeless and cla.s.sic piece. Besides the necklace was a card propped right in the side, holding scribbles of French. Below the card were Chinese characters that read, “Happy Birthday!”
It was beautiful!
Qin Jing raised the necklace even higher, recognizing the diamonds to be one of the rarest in the world. She had never seen anything like it! It was truly a sight to behold.
Yao Ran, who had been standing at the side this entire time, glanced over.
When she had seen the box of silk threads, she a.s.sumed that it would contain some type of timeless treasure. Yet, for her to reveal such an ordinary necklace—the sight itself was laughable!
The design of the necklace was simple, nothing compared to the attention-stealer bag they had bought for her.
Had Yao Tang bought the necklace at some cheap knockoff store? Upon taking a closer look, Yao Ran only bit back a laugh. The diamonds looked even more ridiculous. Why were they colored?
Were they even real diamonds?
Yao Ran chuckled, waving her hand. “Sister, I know our family is not as rich as the Qin Family, but we shouldn’t be thrifty when it comes to gifts,” she explained, sounding like a teacher lecturing her student. “Buying fake necklaces and jewelry is impolite to the recipient, especially when that recipient is stated to be one of your closest friends.”
The crowd arched their eyebrows at her words.
“Fake?”
“Well, if it’s too good to be true, it certainly isn’t! Do you even know the price of colored diamonds? It’s just too expensive!”
“It can’t be real, right?”
“My gosh, if it’s fake, I would be so embarra.s.sed for her! If I were her, I’d just run off the stage.”
Qin Man sighed in relief, placing a hand over her chest.
It seemed that they had finally won back the round. Yao Tang…who was stupid enough to give a fake diamond necklace at Qin Jing’s birthday party?
However, before she could relax, a slim lady pushed through the crowd to get a closer look at the necklace. “Hm,” she hummed. “That necklace looks like it was a part of the Heart of Love Series! It’s a limited edition, only available in France! From what I heard, they only have three available all over the world!”
