The yellow orb spoke up, giving him no time to comprehend his surroundings. "Your name has already been decided, greetings Asello."
What? He couldn't even choose his own name? Even so, he liked the way it seemingly glided off his tongue, holding an air of hidden danger.
"Please choose your race, innate abilities information will be available after race selection."
Asello rotated his...o...b..to see three avatars returning his stare. He floated over towards the first one, and a bubble of information appeared in the top right of his vision.
Human: "Humans who seek adventure are the most daring and ambitious members of a daring and ambitious race. They seek to earn glory in the eyes of their fellows by ama.s.sing power, wealth, and fame. More than other people, humans champion causes rather than territories or groups."
The humanoid figure stared back at him as he a.s.sessed this new information. The race Human seemed like something he could use to ama.s.s power. His vision focused in at a small plus sign next to the race description. The writing in the bubble changed to a stat sheet.
Alignment: Humans may choose any of the alignments, Chaotic, Lawful, Neutral, Good, or Evil.
Strength: Base value 10
Dexterity: Base value 10
Const.i.tution: Base value 10
Intelligence: Base value 10
Wisdom: Base value 10
Charisma: Base value 10
Luck: Base value 1
Storing this information away for later, Asello moved to the next figure.
"Dwarf: Bold and hardy, dwarves are known as skilled warriors, miners, and workers of stone and metal. Though they stand well under 5 feet tall, dwarves are so broad and compact that they can weigh as much as a human standing nearly two feet taller. Their courage and endurance are also easily a match for any of the larger folk."
Probably not for me. Asello then checked the stat page of this short race.
Alignment: Dwarfs may choose any of the alignments, Chaotic, Lawful, Neutral, Good, or Evil.
Strength: Base value 10 + (2)
Dexterity: Base value 10 - (2)
Const.i.tution: Base value 10 + (1)
Intelligence: Base value 10 + (1)
Wisdom: Base value 10
Charisma: Base value 10 - (1)
Luck: Base value 1
Nope. While the dwarf race could both become a warrior as well as skilled crafters, he wanted finesse and power, something people would one day look at and cower in fear. Facing the final race, he read the description.
"Elf: Elves are renowned for their grace and mastery of magic and weapons such as the sword and bow."
Before Asello could look at the stat sheet, a notification from the yellow orb rang throughout the void. "Asello, due to your previous progress in Lords Realm, otherwise hidden world additions have been made available to you. Choose wisely adventurer as race, cla.s.s, and professions are almost impossible to change after selection."
Almost immediately, a pulsing plus sign came into his attention next to the Elf's description. He gazed towards the light, and an additional avatar replaced the Elf. Dark skin and red speckled eyes seemingly looked through his soul as the darkness surrounding the avatars swept the feet of this humanoid. Long white hair contrasted the almost evil intent radiating from the unknown race.
"A special race is available to you due to the performance of your previous character," chimed the yellow orb.
"Drow: dark elves are a generally evil, dark-skinned, and white-haired subrace of elves."
Nothing more was given as a description of Drow, but Asello knew immediately that this was the race for him. He turned towards yellow orb and confirmed his race, "I choose the Drow."
"You have three options of alignment for this character; Chaotic Evil, Lawful Evil, and Neutral. these will change abilities and cla.s.ses later."
Did he want to be an evil drow? There were chaotic and lawful tendencies to look at as well. While neutral opened the door for him to become anything, evil was in the drow description. He wanted the highest synergy for his character between race and alignment. He also wanted to live his life free, laws were not the path to power, and power is what he wanted. "Chaotic Evil," his voice rang clear and true throughout the inky blackness.
Instantly the avatars disappeared while the Drow slide a couple feet to the left. Three versions of the drow appeared next to it.
"Because of your alignment, you have been granted three different sub-races of Chaotic evil drow called Lolth Touched. Please choose one."
The first figure held almost a controversial light.
Redeemed Drow: A drow that was once marked by the evil dark elf G.o.ddess Lolth, underwent a fundamental change and converted to the alignment of the Lawful good elf G.o.d Corellian. He destroyed Lolth's touch, blessing the dark elf with the Mark of Corellon. Unique and innate abilities available after selection.
This gave Asello a pause, Redeemed Drow had the power he desired, but with it came the binding chains of Lawful alignment. He looked over to the next sub-race.
Arcane Drow: The mysterious working of Arcane magic flow through this sub-race like blood. Magical apt.i.tude comes easily but with a price. Arcane drow are severely weakened by the sun. Additionally, their bodies are naturally frail. Favoring studying the arcane arts and hurling spells at enemies, these drow are never seen in the center of a melee….. unless dead.
Power at a price it seemed, Asello favored Arcane over Redeemed currently. Still, he wanted to see the final sub-race before he made his decision.
Shadow Drow: The a.s.sa.s.sin of dark elves deals primarily within the environment of the Underdark. These drow melt into shadows and strike silently. Their culture is one of power without fame, a.s.sa.s.sinations are as familiar as water to this sub-race. In a world where it is kill or be killed, they choose to kill. With this race, only one Cla.s.s is available.
Asello felt the power radiating from this sub-race avatar, it was like a snake cover in bushes...in the dark. There was one catch, though, the cla.s.s was already predetermined by the world system. Asello's chaotic nature kicked in, though, and he felt the rush of the unknown calling to him.
"Shadow Drow"
"Sub-race chosen, Shadow Drow. Cla.s.s chosen, Prestige a.s.sa.s.sin cla.s.s; Shadow Blade."
Asello smirked internally, a prestige a.s.sa.s.sin cla.s.s seemed entirely too powerful, especially with the mysterious name of Shadow Blade.
Shadow Blade: Skills are derived from a.s.sa.s.sination techniques mixed with the innate abilities of Shadow Drow. Blades of pure darkness can be conjured and thrown, or shadows can enhance blades made of conductible material. Shadow Blades focus on single hit kills or silencing an enemy first, then eliminating them. When mixed with the Innate abilities of Drow, this cla.s.s becomes the nightmare of all that it targets.
After Asello read the prompt, he quickly looked over the stat and ability sheet for Shadow Drow.
Alignment: Chaotic Evil
Strength: Base value 10
Dexterity: Base value 10 + (3)
Const.i.tution: Base value 10 - (1)
Intelligence: Base value 10
Wisdom: Base value 10 - (1)
Charisma: Base value 10 + (2)
Luck: Base value 1 + (3)
