Chapter 1635 A Surprising Puppet
Grey could sense the unease around the place, he knew his aim had already been achieved, all he needed to do is give them the s.p.a.ce they needed to feed the tree. He didn't want to waste all the free treasures he was given by the Second Prince, so of course he's not going to try to use them all. Most of the people here were all old guys who had a large storage of treasures with them. They wouldn't mind offering a few to hasten the process. Grey was about to leave when a figure appeared before him. He raised his brow and looked at the figure, "A puppet?" He didn't sense any life-force in the figure standing before him and knew from the start that it was a puppet. From the looks of it, they wanted to take him out to make sure he didn't bring in more people that would help him secure the treasure.
Grey bowed respectfully and said, "I'm on a mission for the Second Prince, may I know who senior is?" He waited patiently for a response, but as he expected, no one came out, just a puppet that was in the Fourth stage of the Sovereign Plane. Grey kept his aura hidden, so he was still a Second stage Sovereign to the Gnomes here. He wanted to take it lower, but unfortunately, for some reasons, his cultivation level and body strength was too buoyant that it was practically impossible for him to reduce it to anything below the Second stage. As annoying as it was, he didn't mind. Gnomes all have puppets they fight with, so he knew these puppets will be sent after him if a fight eventually breaks out. And a fight didn't even need to break out before he saw the first puppet standing before him. His eyes turned cold as he snorted, "Humph! I can't believe you're blocking someone sent from the Royal Family, does this mean you're declaring war against the Royal Family?" Once again, he was meant with utter silence. He didn't panic, as he prepared to escape. With a powerful scream, he attacked. The puppet blocked the supposed attack, but to the shock of who was controlling it, the attack which was supposed to be aimed at the puppet was sent straight at the tree. The puppet moved at breakneck speed, forgetting about Grey as it charged towards the tree. Grey smiled, and instead of trying to escape, he stretched out his hand and an arm made from the earth element rose from the ground and grabbed the puppet. The man who was controlling the puppet felt his eyes almost bulge out. He wanted to save the treasure, but Grey was stopping him. Not just him, but the others who were hiding all came out of their hiding spots and stopped the attack from reaching the tree just before it could hit it.
"There are so many of you who want His Highness' treasure. Who would've thought?" Grey said with a calm expression, but at the moment, he was in a position where escape was very easy. He sensed the aura of the people in front of him and the strongest was an Eighth stage Sovereign. He didn't show any signs of fear as he looked at them. "You little rat, so this was your aim all along?" One of the Gnomes asked. Grey counted a total of eight Gnomes, and only one of them was in the Fifth stage. In a real fight, that was probably the only one who stood a good chance against. But then again, these were Gnomes who relied heavily on the use of puppets. Grey could be said to be their worst nightmare. In a case like this where there are top experts in the Late stages of the Sovereign Plane, Grey knew his chances of victory were none. There's nothing he could do to fight against an Eighth stage Sovereign even when he could break off their connection to their puppets. It will only give him a short time to escape, nothing more. Unless he can fuse all his elements and use the strongest form of the fusion orb, he didn't stand any chance against someone like this. He couldn't help but recall his Fusion State. If he still had access to that, he would've been able to fight them without any fears. 'What a shame.' This was the first period he has genuinely missed the fact that he couldn't use the Fusion State any longer. Most of the battles he has been in, had all generally been with those in the same stage or two to three stages above him. He could still deal with that, but anything above three stages was practically impossible for him to achieve. He couldn't use the full extent of the Fusion orb at will due to the power it contained, it's very difficult to keep it in a stable state. At the moment, he has no issues with creating a five elemental fusion orb, but that was his limit. Since entering the Gnome world, he hasn't had any cause to use such a destructive attack, so it has been kept hidden all this while. Grey looked at this group and for some reason, he was thinking if there was a way he could kill them. These were experts, and they would pose a threat to humans eventually given the relationship between them. If he could kill them all, he would be elated. But of course, he didn't have any plans of trying that right now. "A Necromancer dares to act in such a manner before me? Humph! You must be tired of living." The old man who tried to attack Grey from the start was the one who spoke up. He was a Sixth stage Sovereign, so seeing that Grey, a Second stage Sovereign who was also a Necromancer dared to do something like that in front of him was infuriating. Grey saw the Old man's attack and blocked. The attack forced him to retreat a few meters back. He already expected such strength, but experiencing it first hand was even more shocking. 'I can't hang around any longer.' Without any hesitation, Grey's figure was covered with lightning and he bolted out of the place. "You think you can escape?" The Old man snorted coldly and a Seventh stage Sovereign puppet appeared, covered with a white light, the puppet shot in Grey's direction. Grey, who was escaping, was shocked that this Old man actually has a Light Elementalist at this stage. Light Elementalists were very rare, even in the human world, yet this Gnome has one as a puppet. 'It's too fast, without using all I have, I can't escape from it.' Grey calculated quickly as he tried to increase his speed, but the puppet was faster than he was. If it had been a Wind or Lightning Elementalist, he wouldn't have had any issues with escaping from it. But a Light Elementalist is too fast. The puppet caught up to him, and just as it was about to grab him, he used the s.p.a.ce element and vanished from sight. He couldn't care less about showing three elements. It wasn't something too out of the ordinary anyway. The Old man didn't expect something like this to happen, so when the puppet failed to grab a hold of Grey, he paused momentarily. That was enough time for Grey to escape from the area, diving into the sea just outside the island, hiding there with the aid of the water. The Old man paused for some time, and recalled the puppet. All eight individuals looked at the scene, a bit surprised Grey was able to escape from the clutches of this Old man. The Old man is renowned for his Light Elemental puppet. He has grown it to become so strong for over a hundred years, yet he couldn't catch a young child. "I didn't think you would be here too, Old Light." A lady said in a soft voice, her words oozing seduction, but they all knew it was anything but. She's older than all of them present, and was also one of the two Eighth stage Sovereigns present. She's known for her vile methods, and has been well known for hundreds of years now. The Old man who was referred to as Old Light turned to look at the lady. She looked to be in her early twenties, but they all knew otherwise. "Senior." He bowed hurriedly to show his respect. "You can't even stop a child from leaving this place. You'll be in trouble once he goes back to inform the Second Prince." One of the other men present said. He was a Seventh stage Sovereign, and he wasn't one to be taken lightly. "You were here, I didn't see you doing anything to stop him." Old Light said coldly. From the way they acted, it's easy to see they seem to have some sort of animosity towards each other.
