Chapter 36: Origins of the G.o.d's Son (2)

There wasn't any sunlight in the imperial court. The cold hues of the palace walls and jade stairs and brought about a feeling of constrainment. Zhao Huajun slowly walked towards the inner area and from time to time, he would greet the pa.s.sing divine kings and divine generals. When he arrived at the rear hall, there was an attendant already there and waiting outside the door. Seeing him, he immediately approached to welcome him and salute.

"His Majesty is inside," The attendant looked behind him and quickly lowered his head. He smiled and said, "Please go in Zhao Huajun."

Inside the hall, the Heavenly Emperor was standing by himself in front of the table. His hand held a report. Seeing only him come inside, his gaze slightly shook before he turned around and sat on the chair.

"I pay my respects to Your Majesty."

"You're excused." The Heavenly Emperor let go of the report and indicated that he sit.

Zhao Huajun had a smile on his face as he said: "Your Majesty already knows everything. Your servant is guilty for returning alone. How could your servant dare to just sit?"

The Heavenly Emperor raised a brow: "She really betrayed us and sought refuge in the Devil Realm?"

"How could she dare to betray us. It was simply your servant's incapability for failing to bring her back without any issues. This time, we were detected by the Devil Realm so I'm afraid that the person we placed in the Devil Realm has already been……"

"To be capable of stopping you, was it him?"

"Yes."

"A minor Winged race woman was able to make him to take action?"

"Your Majesty is doubting your servant?"

"I have never doubted biaoxiong's loyalty to Heaven," Unexpectedly, the Heavenly Emperor didn't get angry, "I meant that letting that little phoenix stay in the Devil Palace might not be a bad thing. Perhaps we can use this as a chance to discover his secret."

Zhao Huajun said: "She's young. Your servant is concerned……It would be better to look for an opportunity to bring her back."

"Since she has eaten the neidan, she has answered to the Will of Heaven and it's unlikely that something will happen to her," The Heavenly Emperor smiled and changed the topic, "Shouldn’t biaoxiong be more worried about someone else? You searched for over 20 years and now that the person has returned, you're no longer anxious. Aren't you afraid that by putting off the wedding day, she’ll feel wronged and overthink it? Your younger brother and sister are currently keeping her company. Go coax her."

"Your servant obeys."

After walking out of the hall, Zhao Huajun slowly walked along. His smiling expression was gradually withdrawn and he inwardly sighed.

Stopping the Devil G.o.d and yet coming out unscathed, perhaps she truly had answered the Will of Heaven. All in all, she knew kindness and had planned to return it. Even though she had defected, she definitely wouldn't incite a war without reason. If the Devil G.o.d could be stabilized for the time being, everything else could be slowly planned out. It was just that the Winged race had never produced a traitor before. If the Heavenly Emperor were to find out, a command to chase her down and kill her would definitely be given out. If he could conceal this from him for a while then he would.

In the corridor, Heng Yue-ji was leisurely leading her maids and spoke as she walked.

"G.o.ddess is leaving this quickly?"

"It's the wrong place to be. It would be wise if I didn't stay too long."

The maid was puzzled: "What is wrong with the Heavenly Empress accompanying Dragon Girl?"

Heng Yue-ji said: "Zhao Huajun loves that little phoenix very much and word has it that he was about to accept her. Currently, he's postponed the day of his and Dragon Girl's wedding for no reason so how could Dragon Girl not feel jealous? Didn't you hear what she told the Heavenly Empress just a moment ago? Even if that little phoenix were to truly betray the G.o.d Realm, Zhao Huajun would definitely still protect her. If this talk were to reach His Majesty's ears and cause a ruckus, knowing that we were here, Zhao Huajun would suspect me."

"G.o.ddess is right. It simply didn't occur to me."

"Within the palace halls, one must put their own safety before their principles."

The master and servant walked farther away. Zhao Huajun's expression wasn't too good as he stood at his original spot for a moment. He then turned around and briskly walked back to his residence. Bringing along trusted aides, Yu Mo Heavenly Palace's attendant Yu Xiao had been waiting at the entrance to the garden for a while now. Seeing him, Yu Xiao bowed: "King."

Zhao Huajun took out the green feather hairpin from within his sleeve and handed it over to him: "I have already retrieved this object. Order someone to deliver it back to the Peac.o.c.k King and command him to reflect on his past errors."

Yu Xiao was alarmed and said: "Could it be that Little Phoenix's betrayal is real?"

Zhao Huajun frowned.

"Subordinate will have someone deliver it right this moment. King can be at ease." Yu Xiao understood and was about to leave after taking the green feather hairpin.

"Wait a moment," Zhao Huajun called him to a stop. After thinking it over, he said, "I also need a sealed letter to be sent to the Immortal Emperor. You can send them out together at a later time."

Yu Xiao agreed and followed him inside.

On this side, how could Tian Zhen know about the things that had occurred in the G.o.d Realm? She was only certain that the G.o.d Realm would chase her down and kill her so she was wholeheartedly strengthening the Devil Realm. She had forced Lu Xiaocan to train the troops all day long. Thinking of how the Devil Realm didn't have a strong general, she also specially set up a combat tournament. The numerous subordinates like Jiu Sicang had gotten used to the laziness. Why would they put in the effort? They simply casually dealt with it. Afterwards, the problem was solved by a single sentence from Lu Xiaocan: The one who's dead last will receive a penalty. The crowd of devils had all suffered at the hands of this little heavenly king before so they hurriedly snapped to attention and gave it their all. From then on, they single-mindedly cultivated. Their lives having something worth striving for again.

Compared to the award, the penalty was more capable of rousing people to action. Tian Zhen sighed. Diligently cultivating magic spells wasn't a bad thing. In the future, there would be at least some uses for it.

Tolerating the actions of the two of them, Lu Binghe would occasionally appear and each time, he would look coldly upon them from the sidelines.

"You're still doubting me?" Tian Zhen took a chance to ask him.

"Since the Divine Winged race is mentioned in the prophecy, it is necessary to guard against them," Lu Binghe dryly said, "If there is an opportunity, I will send you away from fuhuang's side."

"Heavenly king is truly frank." Tian Zhen said with a smile as she grinded her teeth. At most, you were made from a rib. There's no need for me to argue with a rib.

Lu Binghe said: "Many thanks to you for leaving Xiaocan behind."

She had just been about to deal with him so how could she predict that he would express his thanks? Tian Zhen's response was late, her expression starting to contort with confusion: "In the end, do you want to thank me or do you want to chase me away?"

"If you could take the initiative to leave fuhuang, that would be best."

"If I don't agree?"

"That is your business," Lu Binghe paused for a beat and then said, "If you pressure them too much, it will only bring about the opposite result. Everything that you have done was meaningless."

It was like Tian Zhen had woken up from a dream. She secretly regretted it.

Presently, she was too anxious for results. She thought of how the devils had no choice but to earnestly cultivate due to their fear of receiving punishment. There were many complaints. She should switch to another method.

Elder heavenly king Lu was still quite concerned about his little brother. His rude treatment of her was also out of consideration for Lord Devil G.o.d. Thinking up to this point, Tian Zhen didn't dislike him as much now. However, the problem was that when looking at the father-son pair standing together, it was just too strange. After adding herself in……

A slight breeze entered the palace hall. The Devil G.o.d was standing alone at the center of the palace hall. The fragmented pieces of gold atop his forehead ornament lightly swayed. On that handsome face was an expression of contemplation.

G.o.d, you want to be a thinker? Tian Zhen stood at the hall's entrance. She looked around from far away for a moment before calmly walking inside and taking the initiative to pull that beautiful hand: "Your Majesty."

Recently, this woman was getting more and more impudent. The Devil G.o.d lowered his brows, his line of sight falling on her hand.

Tian Zhen pretended she didn't see it. Thinking of how he had observed everything and yet never said anything, she couldn't help but ask: "I was too impatient in handling matters and it's caused many complaints. Is Your Majesty angry?"

"You are concerned for them."

"I'm worried that their abilities aren't enough to protect themselves, much less protect the Devil Realm. These matters shouldn't be left to Your Majesty to shoulder alone."

"I forgive you."

A fear-inducing status and an aloof tone. If it was someone else, they would definitely be deeply grateful and secretly rejoice, but when Tian Zhen heard it she let out a puff. Actually, from the moment I decided to do this, I was never worried over about your forgiveness.

"I come from the Divine Winged race, won't Your Majesty be on guard against me?"

The Devil G.o.d looked at that hand, and then frowned.

Tian Zhen clutched at it, not letting go. She adopted a gentle stance: "Your Majesty?"

In the end, the Devil G.o.d wasn't fooled and lifted her away: "Rogue Phoenix."

His voice had just fell when he saw Lu Binghe enter with quick steps, kneel on one knee, and salute: "Fuhuang, there has been an unusual change in You Po Mountain. The cause is unknown."

"An ancient sacred mountain, yet it has been abandoned by the G.o.ds. It is also difficult to blame my return on it and be angry at it. Mn……" The Devil G.o.d pondered a bit and then simply said: "I will go investigate. My son, properly guard the Devil Realm."

Lu Binghe promised.

Tian Zhen hurriedly said: "I'll also go!"

"You, stay behind." The Devil G.o.d turned around and disappeared. (T/N: ur gonna regret this bro)

Too late to chase after him, Tian Zhen was disheartened. She turned around to look at Lu Binghe, her eyelid twitching.

Lu Binghe's expression didn't change as he gracefully turned around and exited the palace hall.

The Devil Realm's recreational activities opened up again. The devils got to relax and the complaints decreased by a lot. Tian Zhen however, pa.s.sed her time in boredom. Even playing cards weren't enough to pique her interest. Facing the completely empty hall at night alone, she always felt that there was something missing. Naturally, she wasn't worried at all. Elder heavenly king Lu wasn't stupid to the point that he would publicly send her away.

On the third night, Lu Xiaocan stealthily called her from outside the palace entrance.

Tian Zhen was exalted: "So well-behaved. How come you remembered to keep me company?"

Lu Xiaocan dodged her hug and gave an evil laugh: "This heavenly king came to have a serious talk with you. You definitely won't be able to stay happy after listening."

"What is it?"

"My big brother wants to send you away."

Tian Zhen restrained her smile, half-believing and half-doubting: "Really?"

Lu Xiaocan tilted his body and said: "It'll be tomorrow night. I'm only telling you because you saved me before. It's up to you whether you believe it or not."

"Sending me away with no cause or reason, is he unafraid of His Majesty blaming him?"

"Of course he won't personally take action. Early tomorrow morning, he's going to take me out to look at the Devil Spring. This way, the matter won't have anything to do with us. Fuhuang trusts him the most so at most, there'll be a few sentences of scolding."

When Tian Zhen heard this, she became fearful and she secretly cursed.

Too evil! Elder heavenly king Lu is too evil!

"In any case, I've already told you everything. You think of something on your own, I have to go now. You can't let big brother find out about this." Lu Xiaocan tugged her wing and then slipped away.
