Chapter 767
767 14.43 Last Violet Star – (Past) Arrival at the Western City
At the North City...
Bai Lengshui Sect’s Territory
Sect Master’s Office
The office of Sect Master Bai Yuyan had a simple layout. There’s a tea table at the center of the room and the two opposite side walls were opened. The whole room is surrounded by a cold pond with numerous ice lotus flowers floating above the pond. The north and south walls were left open, with the south as the entrance and the north as an open viewing area of the ice lotus pond.
On the west wall are a few shelves full of books and scrolls. On the east wall is some weapons shelf for the Sect Master’s use. His personal sword and spare weapons as well as his flutes were neatly arranged in this area.
The father and son sat at the table and Bai Wuan served tea to three people.
Sect Master Bai Yuyan asked, “You’ve served three cups. Are you waiting for a guest to join us?”
“Yes, but not a guest. A family member. Right, Mother?” said Bai Wuan as he looked behind his father.
Madam Bai morphed from a small swirl of snowflakes and reached out her slender hand while holding the sleeve of her left hand and seat beside her husband.
.....
“My eldest still has the sharpest senses as always. This old man of ours didn’t even notice me coming over~” said Madam Bai as she slowly sip the tea her son had served on the table.
With a wave of Bai Wuan’s hand, a few small-sized moon cakes appeared on the table.
Bai Wuan said, “Mother can have these moon cakes as snacks as well. I’ve made it recently.”
“Hm~ delicious. Your pastries and sweets are top-notch. Before you leave, make some more snacks for mother,” said Madam Bai while enjoying the moon cakes and even reaching out to serve her husband. “Dear, try it~ it’s good!”
Sect Master Bai Yuyan helplessly smiled at his wife and eldest son’s actions. He opened his mouth and let his wife feed him. The moon cakes were freshly baked warm and soft. It melted instantly on his tongue. It wasn’t too sweet, just a bit mild, there was a bit of rose and milk taste.
“It is indeed not bad. Wife, give me one more,” said Bai Yuyan.
Madam Bai smiled and fed her husband as he wished. She had always enjoyed pampering this silly and naive husband of hers.???ℯ?e?nov??. ???
Bai Wuan covered his face with a white fan and said, “Oh please! Please spare this bachelor of such overwhelming sweetness~”
“Hmm~ it wouldn’t be a problem if An’er finds his own other half. There is no need to pressure yourself with your missions. Mother wants you to enjoy your life too. At least relax while you are in this realm,” said Madam Bai.
Bai Wuan was a bit startled when suddenly the control of his body loosen and Hei Anjing who was resting inside took over. Immediately his expression faded into nothing as his fan closed and looked at the couple smiling at him with expressionless face.
“You know... I am not him?” asked Hei Anjing.
Madam Bai reached out her hand and helped Hei Anjing move his stray hair to the back of his ears. He stiffened for a moment because of the sudden closure but instinctively trusted this lady’s presence as well as the gentleman seated opposite of him.
Chuckles~
Sect Master Yuyan said, “To say you are not him is wrong. Since you and An’er are the same person. At least your soul had been the same in my eyes.”
His eyes glowed in slight gold, Hei Anjing knew that this gentleman before him had fully opened heavenly eyes. Only then did he realize that the whole Bai Clan is connected to the Upper Realm to be exact they are connected to the lineage of his mother, the Imperial Empress.
“An’er... You must have suffered a lot. For you to lose your emotions all of the sudden. But don’t worry our White (Bai) Clan knows the way to solve the curse of the Hei Family’s bloodline,” said Madam Bai, Xue Wuyue, who held his right hand which was supposed to holding a teacup.
Hei Anjing asked, “Why should I believe you?”
“Because we are the Guardian of the Xue Clan and I am your mother’s younger sister. In short, I am your maternal aunt,” said Madam Bai.
Bewildered, Hei Anjing asked, “But you are a mortal... Wouldn’t you die once in this timeline?”
“Well, that was fated. We need to report to the Underworld once every decade. We also need to have a sufficient reason to return so... That happened... or will happen in the future based on the current timeline. Though our children don’t know about this yet. They were recently born after all,” said Sect Master Yuyan.
Madam Bai, Xue Wuyue said, “Okay. This is not what is important right now. Mother can help you get back your emotions. Come meet me and father together with that chosen dao companion of yours. What was his name again? X-Xia... Ye Xiajie! That’s right, that’s his name. Wait, it’s rude to drop the boy’s birth name without permission so what is his courtesy name again?”
“Jieye. Yun Jieye. Please don’t get his surname wrong. He is from the (Blue Fleeting Cloud Sect) Lan Zhuayun Sect. You should know about him. The younger brother of Qiqi’s blind date,” said Hei Anjing.
Madam Bai’s words paused for a few seconds and smiled at his son. She seems to have noticed something yet she decided to act like she didn’t notice it at all.
“I see~ so my sons~ hooked up the two heirs of the (Blue Fleeting Cloud Sect) Lan Zhuayun Sect. As expected of my children~”
“For some reason, I feel that those brats are stealing my daughters instead of sons,” mumbled Sect Master Bai.
He groaned when his wife suddenly elbowed his tummy.
Urg!
Madam Bai said, “An’er be sure to come to meet mother and father when you woke up and bring that lad with you.”
Hei Anjing unconsciously nods his head and stares at the smiling kind couple before him.
Sect Master Bai Yuyan said, “Though you might have seen this memory yourself already, do you still want to experience it again, An’er?”
“Of course, he would~ my An’er should be having his first meeting with his dao companion in this timeline. Darling, are you excited?” said Madam Bai.
He didn’t reply and averted his eyes obviously didn’t want to answer her question. Madam Bai wanted to continue teasing her nephew but had to stop as the memories were distorting to a new scene.
Madam Bai said, “Well then... See him for yourself~”
Hei Anjing felt that his surroundings turned dark once again. Meanwhile, after Hei Anjing disappeared in front of them, the Bai Couple lean at each other. They can only use this way to meet their eldest son in reality. They noticed the changes in their recently revived son.
Madam Bai said, “Sigh~ this is not bad yet not good either. Not only he lost his emotions part of his memories in his past life as an immortal and a mortal was missing.”
With a dark expression on his face, “He stayed in Purgatory for that long. It isn’t impossible to lose a few memories. That place is h.e.l.lish even if he tolerated the pain the process of torture is still there,” said Sect Master Bai.
Madam Bai said, “I do not know what brother-in-law was thinking agreeing to that child’s suggestion of entering Purgatory as punishment. Either way, it is good that he is back. The Devil Race is starting to get annoying recently.”
—
Hei Anjing within that similar darkness then once again hears someone calling for his attention. It was Young Bai Qiyin’s voice. He could only feel his body swaying, obviously, he is no longer on land anymore.
Bai Qiyin calls, “Shixiong? Shixiong!? Brother, come on! Wake up! We’re here!”
Hei Anjing slowly opened his eyes and was welcomed by the festive scene in a mortal’s market. The scene of stalls and the crowd gathering and walking past each other unfolds before his eyes. His silver eyes were in a daze for a moment only to realize he was on a small boat that the siblings had ridden on.
There’s an extra person standing beside the young Bai Qiyin and Bai Lili. It was the young version of Lu Er. Wearing a light green robe and holding a paper fan in his hand.
Lu Er said, “Big Brother Wuan! I can’t believe you really fell asleep on the boat.”
“It was swayed so gently as if I’m on a hammock and fell asleep immediately,” said Hei Anjing but this wasn’t what he wanted to say but this is the line of Bai Wuan at this moment.
Different from before though he can’t control his mouth completely, at least he can move his body accordingly. Bai Qiyin helped him leave the boat. The young Bai Wuan doesn’t wear any veil at this time. Though his appearance was downgraded to the levels of mortals, he is still above anyone from the mortal realm. But if one would compare his appearance to his immortal self he would look a bit average. At least he didn’t have the elegance and holiness of a G.o.d in this form.
Bai Qiyin asked Bai Wuan when he noticed that his brother is rarely quiet in such a harmonious scene of the river market. Before they arrived in the West, his brother had been excited to see the market above the river.
He asked worriedly, “What’s wrong?”
“Big Brother Wuan? Is there something wrong with the mountain ranges?” asked Lu Er.
Hei Anjing has been secretly observing the surrounding mountains and saw hidden formations that protect and desolate the whole mountain range under the territory of the Lan Zhuayun Sect.
“Nothing much. I was just wondering why your sect sent you here?” said Bai Wuan.
Lu Er answered. “I was sent here by brother. He heard that Senior Yun Xiayu of Lan Zhuayun Sect has brought up many excellent disciples of the Lan Zhuayun Sect.”
While the other disciples who came together with Lu Er said, “They say that all those who’ve studied a year or two in his cla.s.s. No matter how useless they were when they went in, when they came out at least they looked proper.”
“Qiqi, don’t I look proper?” asked Bai Wuan.
Reluctantly, Bai Qiyin answered, “For brother, if you don’t act frivolous and untamed all the time you would be a proper cultivator.”
“I do act with proper demeanor depending on what kind of person appeared before me though,” replied Bai Wuan.
Hah~
Bai Qiyin sighed. “You will definitely be a mark of shame within his teaching career.”
“Don’t mind it. To me, manners can only be given to those who deserve them. Giving to an animal is just a wasteful attempt. I can just return home if I was indeed sent out. but just in case I am indeed sent home, Qiqi you should remain vigilant at all times. I’ve just finished observing the outer layer of this sect. There’s a defensive formation surrounding the whole mountain and there is a need for a marker to be able to enter. In this case, I supposed it’s with the invitation you have with you. There are traps in the back mountain, northeast, south, and southwest. Be sure to avoid those places when you look for cultivation areas,” said Bai Wuan.
Bai Qiyin responded, “I will remember, brother.”
Frightened Lu Er, “A-Are... Are those.. Those places you’ve mentioned really dangerous?” asked Second Young Master Lu.
Bai Qiyin said seriously, “If brother says it’s dangerous then it is.”
Hei Anjing continues to look around. As much as he observes the city the more he felt nostalgic about it. This unknown feeling keeps his heart filled with anxiety. Sadly, he had no way to cleanse his heart of such negativity.
Bai Wuan once again started talking without his concern, “But this land... is a nice place. The purity of qi in this land is the greatest. Qiqi has to cultivate here for 3 months seriously. I’m sure that after 3 months you’ll be able to break through to the Foundation establishment.”
After hearing his brother say that, Bai Qiyin is unexpectedly happy. He had always been frustrated with his slow progress during his training. Even with his Senior Brother’s help he still couldn’t increase his cultivation at all leaving him depressed for a few days. Bai Wuan and Bai Lili spend their time coaxing him not to worry about it.
Learning that this place is able to help him get stronger made Bai Qiyin extremely happy.
“Really!?”
“Yes. I’ll ask one of the seniors if they’ll be able to allow you guys to enter seclusion at a certain period,” said Bai Wuan.
