Legend of Legend Chapter 22

As if he didn’t want Atlan, Vera, and Nodra to retreat to the guard tower, Warren ran towards them.  The distance between them decreased rapidly.  When Vera saw this, she hurriedly made a Wall of Flame.

However, Warren’s claws cut through the Wall of Flame in a flash, and Grangsha trailed immediately behind him.  Moreover, their Minions were also trailing closely behind them.

Atlan frowned as he turned around.

“s.h.i.t.”

They weren’t giving them any time for them to retreat.  Warren was already fast on his four legs, but he had also used a Quicken ability.  He was chasing after them at an unfathomable speed.

Nodra raised both his hands towards the running Warren.  As Nodra slowly raised his hands in front of him, a large wave of power shot out from both hands toward Warren like a wave.  Warren had no choice but to block with his outstretched arms.

Hoooong.

Warren was pushed backwards.  Grangsha, who was trailing behind him, swung his scythe.
Nodra clicked his tongue when he saw his wave of power be cut into half.

“I’m really incompatible with that guy.”

While Nodra pushed back Warren, they were able to retreat further.  It seemed Warren wouldn’t give up when he saw the injured Atlan and Vera.  He ran towards them again.
However, it seemed his acceleration ability had come to an end, and his speed had become slower.

Atlan finally gave up running away. He stopped then he raised his sword.

” I guess I have no other choice.”

Their side had 3 heroes and the other side had two heroes. There was a chance they could come out on top.  The problem was the two of them had received injuries.  It would have been best if they were able to rest with the help of the guard tower.  However, since that wasn’t possible, they had no choice but to fight.

While Atlan stationed himself in the front, Vera started indiscriminately firing her magic.  Vera’s magic was Fire magic.  She shot out spears of flame this time.
Warren already knew about Vera since he had already fought with her in the past.  He shielded his face with both arms as he ran forward.  Most of Vera’s magic was Targeting magic, so he knew it was impossible to evade it.

Puh-uhg!

Warren continued to run towards them as he took the hits from the spears of fire. Nodra spoke when he saw this.

“I’ll help Vera. You take care of Grangsha.”

After he spoke, Nodra headed towards a collision path with Warren.  Warren let out a snort.  At the same moment he unsheathed his sharp claws, Nodra did a front kick.
One could tell at a glance that Warren’s arms had a longer reach than Nodra’s leg. However, a translucent wave of power formed in front of Nodra’s foot.

Kw.a.n.g!

While Warren was being pushed back, Grangsha aimed for Nodra with his shield up. However, Atlan’s sword flew towards him from behind Nodra.

Zzuhng!

After losing his chance to attack Nodra, Grangsha swung his scythe towards Atlan.  Atlan deflected the scythe with his sword, and he grinned.

“The item you dropped is being put to good use.”

Grangha’s eyes started to shine with a fierce light.

“I’ll kill you!”

Grangsha had taken a good amount of damage fighting Nodra up until now.  Therefore, he didn’t hold the upper hand against Atlan. There was a slight disadvantage in that Atlan had lost one of his sword.

Lee-joonhyuk quickly looked around the battlefield.  If Atlan could take care of Grangsha, then the three of them could deal with Warren. The problem was it would be difficult for Atlan to overpower Grangsha.

However, he just needed to hold out for 15 seconds then he would be able to use his barrier again.  Even if both of them were injured, Grangsha wouldn’t be able to be able to handle Atlan.

Lee-joonhyuk had to wait for such an opportunity.

When he saw the shield Minions being pushed back by the opponent’s forces, he decided to step forward.

He wanted to crush the spirit of the Minions running toward him. He pushed aside a descending axe, then he used the rebound to behead the opponent’s head.  He quickly stabbed at another enemy Minion running towards him.

He had cut down two Minions, but the enemy Minions hesitated only for a moment. The reckless enemy Minions charged towards him.
Lee-joonhyuk knew he would be put in a tough spot if he was surrounded. He took a step back to avoid an attack then he counter-attacked.  After he equipped the Rune of Strength, there was no fail in his attack.

Each time he counter-attacked he accurately killed an enemy Minion.  The enemy Minions started to avoid Lee-joonhyuk, and they started targeting the shield soldiers.  Lee-joonhyuk was about to step forward to help them when another Minion blocked his path.

He had thought this was another Minion, so he expected his two-handed sword to cut the axe into two pieces.

Tuh-uhng!

Lee-joonhyuk looked carefully at his opponent, who had blocked his two-handed sword with a one-handed axe.  First, he was of similar height to himself.  Moreover, his wide shoulders were about twice as large as Lee-joonhyuk’s shoulders.

The moment he realized his opponent’s size was larger compared to the other Minions he hurriedly retreated backwards. The one-handed axe cut down where he used to be.

“Koo-rook. It’ll be profitable to kill him.”

Lee-joonhyuk rarely heard the enemy Minions talk.  Still, he knew he could understand the other’s word, because he ate a language pill.
However, he knew this Minion was fundamentally different from the others.

“Are you a Novice?”

“Koo-rook.  Aren’t you also a Novice?”

Novice basically meant one had awakened to one ability.  If his opponent was a Novice, then he had an unknown abililty.  Lee-joonhyuk’s face couldn’t help, but become rigid.
Lee-joohyuk’s barrier was a fairly high ranked ability.  However, he had to cast it on Atlan right now.
Even if he killed the Novice in front of him using his ability, he would die in the end if Atlan was killed.
Therefore, he decided to put his hope on Atlan being able to kill Grangsha then helping him afterwards

Lee-joonhyuk took in a deep breath then he raised his hand.  When Lee-joonhyuk pushed his hand forward, the Novice hurriedly got out of the way.  His opponent didn’t know what his ability was, so he decided to evade first.

Lee-joonhyuk casted his barrier on Atlan.

“Koo-hahaha. Well done!”

Atlan let out a hearty laugh then he pressed towards Grangsha.  When the Novice saw this, he turned towards Lee-joonhyuk then he showed his teeth.

“You used your ability.”

Lee-joonhyuk adjusted his grip on his two-handed sword then he got into his fighting stance.  He didn’t have his ability any more, so he knew he was in a lot of danger.  However, he had no choice.  He put his chips on the option with the higher possibility of him surviving . Lee-joonhyuk spoke, while he held up his two handed sword.

“Come at me.”

The Novice coldly mocked him as he charged towards him. It seemed he thought a ability-less Novice wouldn’t be able to contend with him. He ran towards Lee-joonyuk without reserve.

The light in Lee-joonhyuk’s eyes hardened when he saw the Novice’s action.  Lee-joonhyuk had traded a single blow with him, and even though he had a Rune of Strength, he wasn’t able to overpower the other Novice.  He didn’t hold any significant advantage in strength.  It was highly probable that his opponent also had a Rune Stone, and he may be in danger. However, he could only focus on his defense and endure this a.s.sault.

Lee-joonhyuk saw the axe racing towards him, so he swung his two-handed sword as well.

Tuh-ung!

Lee-joonhyuk deflected the blade of the axe with his two-handed sword, but his opponent swung the other axe clasped in his opposite hand.  However, Lee-joonhyuk had developed a method while he fought against Minions. Lee-joonhyuk used the rebound to immediately deflected the opposite axe.
Lee-joonhyuk was able to realize in his focused state that he was slightly faster than the enemy Novice.  He was also a little bit stronger than his opponent.  When Lee-joonhyuk was about to stab with his two-handed sword, the Novice stomped his foot.

Boom!

The ground rang out, and at that moment, his body froze from the energy climbing up from the ground. He couldn’t even twitch a finger.  He didn’t know how long the paralysis would last, but the slightest mistake would kill him.

Lee-joonhyuk used all his strength to move his body, but the Novice swung his axe with a cold smile on his face.

At the moment of life and death, an energy bolt flew past Lee-joonhyuk’s cheek.

If it was a Minion, his opponent would have died from the blow, but it was different for a Novice. The Novice turned his axe on its side then he blocked the energy bolt flying toward his face.

Tung!

During the brief moment the Novice’s axe blade was pushed backwards, Lee-joonhyuk’s body was freed.  The moment he could move Lee-joonhyuk swung his two-handed sword.

Lee-joonhyuk’s sword flew towards the Novice like lightning. The Novice reflexively tried to cross his axes to block, but he was already out of balance. He couldn’t properly block Lee-joonhyuk’s sword.

Kah-ahng!

Lee-joonhyuk’s sword blew the Novice’s shoulder armor off of him. The Novice retreated backwards then he stared daggers at Lee-joonhyuk.

“Koo-rook. How cheap.”

Lee-joonhyuk snorted. The Novice had used his ability on him, who didn’t have his ability.  Yet, the Novice was calling him cheap.

Lee-joonhyuk pointed the two-handed sword towards the Novice. The Novice yelled out as he continued to glare at Lee-joonhyuk.

“Gather around me.”

At the Novice’s shout, the Minions gathered around him. There were 9 Minions accompanying the Novice, and they all gathered in one spot. Lee-joonhyuk decided he should wait for Atlan when he saw them.

The Minions wouldn’t even be a proper opponent for Atlan.  Of course, he had to survive until Atlan cut down Warren.
Lee-joonhyuk inched backwards as he spoke.

“Let’s retreat towards the guard towar.”

“Do you think I will let you!”

The Novice comprehended what Lee-joonhyuk had said, and he charged forward.  The Minions around the Novice also charged.
If there were only nine Minions, then he could have dealt with each one of them as he retreated.  However, there was one Novice amongst them. If he had an equal number of Minions on his side, then maybe he could have done something.  However, it was impossible for him to fight in this situation.
Lee-joonhyuk calmly blocked the axes swung by Minions.

Tuh-tung!

He slowly moved backwards as he continuously blocked the attacks coming towards him. Then the Novice’s axe flew towards him. If it was only the Novice’s axe then he could have just blocked it. However, the Novice’s attack came in between the Minions’ attack.
He was soon driven into a defensive corner.

Tuh-tuh-tuhng!

Lee-joonhyuk quickly retreated, and the Novice use this chance to fiercely attack him. Lee-joonhyuk blocked consecutive attacks as he continued to be pushed back when an energy bolt flew in.

Tuh-uhng!

The moment when the energy bolt hit the Novice, Lee-joonhyuk counter-attacked. The Enemey Minions were further back as the Novice had charged forward as he attacked.
It wasn’t as he intended, but the energy bolt created a chance for him.  Lee-joonhyuk’s sharp counter-attack flew towards the Novice.
The Novice desperately turned his head, but he couldn’t block the sword from cutting his cheek.  When Lee-joonhyuk’s sword missed, he decided to ram his body forward.
He had a Rune of Strength equipped on him, so he was several times stronger than a Minion.  Lee-joonhyuk’s shoulder ram was a simple attack, but it dealt a lot of damage.

“Koo-rook!”

The Novice retreated backwards, but he couldn’t chase after him. The enemy Minions had already caught up to them, and they swung their axes.  Lee-joonhyuk lightly clicked his tongue as he saw the axes descend.  He raised his sword to block as he retreated.

Tuh-tuh-tuhng!

The Novice was alive thanks to the Minions’ help. He let out an angry bellow.

“Koo-rook! Kill the Magician Minion!”

At those words, the Minions ran towards Kim-sarang, who had been shooting energy bolts from the back. If Kim-sarang was killed, Lee-joohyuk would probably receive a joint attack from the Novice and the enemy Minions.
Lee-joonhyuk swung his two-handed sword with all his might towards the Minion trying to attack Kim-sarang.

Kwa-kahk!

The Minion fell to the ground as he was cut through his armor. Lee-joonhyk shouted as he blocked their way.

“Do you think I’ll let you do as you please?”

The Novice’s eyebrows trembled as Lee-joonhyuk was able to block the Minion’s path by himself.  Lee-joonhyuk’s attack was powerful enough to cut down a Minion with a single blow. If they tried to run past him, they would receive a lot of damage.

“Five of you attack him. The rest of you attack the Magiciain Minion!”

Lee-joonhyuk knew his situation had worsened.  Lee-joonhyuk raised his two-handed sword, and he spoke as he took backward steps.

“Run to the guard tower!”

“Oppa!”

“I’ll block them, so just run away!”

Lee-joonhyuk confirmed Kim-sarang was retreating, then he turned to looked at the Novice. The Novice showed his teeth as he smiled at Lee-joonhyuk.

“Koo-rook. You made a mistake.”

The Novice ran forward as he yelled.

“Kill him!”

Lee-joonhyuk gripped his two-handed sword firmly as he saw the Novice and Minions run towards him.
