Chapter 18 – Slave

リオとの交渉を終え、精霊歌亭に戻ってきた。結果から言うと、俺の冒険者ランクはＢ級に昇格した。本来であればＣ級から昇格試験があるそうなのだが、カシェルに勝利した功績とギルド長の推薦で押し通したらしい。見掛けによらずアクティブな人だ。討伐報酬もとんでもない額を貰ってしまった。ジェラール、どんだけ返り討ちにしたんだよ。
The negotiation with Rio was finished and I came back in good spirit. In terms of result, my adventurer rank was promoted to B-rank. Originally, there’s a need to take an exam from C-Rank, but it was pushed through because of my achievements and victory against Cashel. Even though it is obvious, I’m an active person. The subjugation reward is a ridiculous amount. However, Gerard was beaten.

「聞いたよケルちゃん。Ｂ級冒険者になったんだって？」
“I heard Kel-chan. You’re a B-rank now huh?”

クレアさんはもう聞きつけたようだ。奥様の情報網ぱないっすね。
Claire seems already have heard about it. The wives’ information network is terrifying.

冒険者を始めて１週間、この精霊歌亭にずっとお世話になっている。アンジェさんの見立ては確かで、良い宿屋なのだ。何より料理が美味い。
For just only one week being an adventurer, I became indebted to this good-spirited(person). Angie-san really referred me to a good inn. And above all, the food is delicious.

「情報が早いですね。誰に聞いたんです？」
「冒険者の間で噂になってるよ。うちの客層は若いそいつら中心さね。嫌でも耳に入ってくるってもんさ」
「個人的には目立ちたくないんですけどねー」
「何言ってるんだい。１週間でＢ級まで昇格する奴なんてあたしゃ聞いたことないよ。そりゃ目立たない方が可笑しいさ」
“The news came quickly. From whom you heard it?”
“It became a rumor among the adventurers. Our young customer became the center of the talk. No, but it reached my ear.”
“But I don’t really want to stand out personally”
“What are you talking about? Being promoted for just only one week, I never heard that before. It is amusing that you’ll attract attention.”

ですよねー。
Right.

「そうだ、クレアさん。今日の夕飯、帰ってきてから一人分追加しても大丈夫ですか？」
「構わないけど、お友達でも連れてくるのかい？」
「そんな感じです」
「了解したよ、お祝いに今日は一品増やそうかね。これからも頑張んな！」
「その言葉を待っていました！」
“You’re right, Claire-san. For today’s dinner, is it alright to add for one more person when I came back?”
“I don’t mind, who will you bring, a friend?”
“Kinda like that”
“I understand, I guess I’ll increase the dishes as celebration.”
“That is what I’m waiting for you to say!”

豪勢な夕食を確保し、俺は部屋に向かう。
To ensure the lavish dinner, I went to my room.

『出掛けるのか？』
[Going out?]

マジックローブから私服に着替え、クロトバンクから金銭をおろしていると、ジェラールが聞いてきた。
I changed clothes from magic robe to plain clothes, and took out money from Chloto-Bank, when Gerard asked.

「ああ、ちょっと奴隷を買いにな」
『……王も盛んな歳じゃからな、いや男なら普通のことじゃよ』
「何か勘違いしていないか？」
“Oh, I’m just going to buy a slave for a moment”
[…my lord is at the energetic age, it is completely normal]
“Do not misunderstand this thing”

この世界には奴隷が存在する。借金の形にされる、親に売られる、誘拐されるなど、奴隷の身分に落ちる理由は様々だ。奴隷には従属の首輪というマジックアイテムがはめられ、一種の呪い状態に陥る。奴隷が売却された時に主人の血を首輪に触れさせ、専用の呪文を使うことで初めて契約は成立する。この契約で奴隷は主人を害することが呪いによってできなくなる仕組みだ。奴隷は主人の所有物となり、何らかの正当性がない限りは他者が奴隷を殺すことは法で禁じられている。これに関してはどの国も共通のようで、貴族であろうと重罰に処されることとなる。しかし、主人は奴隷の所有者であるので、どう扱おうが認められているのだ。それらの経緯もあり、奴隷の扱いは決して良いものとは言えない。
There are slaves in this world. There are a variety of reasons to fall into the status of being a slave, such as being in debt, being sold by parents, being kidnapped. A slave has a magic item called a collar of subordination, and falls into a kind of curse state. When a slave is sold the contract is established only by touching the collar of the master’s blood and using a special spell. In this contract a slave will not be able to hurt his master because of the curse.Killing a slave owned by somebody else is prohibited by the law unless justified. Regarding this, every country seems to be common, and whether it is aristocrat or not will be given a heavy punishment. However, since the master is the owner of a slave, how to treat it is allowed. There are circ.u.mstances, that handling of slaves that can be speak of.

『奴隷を訓練し、パーティに入れるのですね？』
「ああ、前にメルフィーナと相談していたんだ」
[Train slaves and put them in the party? ]
“Oh, I was consulting with Mel Fina before.”

生まれながらの奴隷は才能値ポイントを全く使っていない。従属の呪いにより、奴隷は主人の許可が出ない限り、スキルを取得することができない為だ。これにより主人好みのポイント配分ができる。
A born slave can not use any skill points at all. Because of a subordination curse, a slave is unable to acquire skills unless the owner’s permission is given. This allows the master to allocate points based on the master’s preference.

「ジェラールとの戦いはかなりギリギリだった。これからはそんなグレードのモンスターを相手するんだ。少しでも戦力を増やしておいた方がいいだろ？」
『道理じゃな。それで、女の奴隷にするのか？』
「当然だろ」
“The fight with Gerard was pretty hard, and from now on we are against opponents of such a level, isn’t it better to increase our fighting strength even a little bit?”
[It’s reasonable. So, do you want the slave to be a woman? ]
“Naturally”

男の奴隷を買って何が嬉しいのか。
What is pleasing buying a male slave?

メルフィーナさんの沈黙が痛いがこればかりは譲れない。なんたって男のロマンだもの！
Melfina’s silence hurts, but I can not concede here.This is a man ‘s romance!

『わかる、わかるぞ王よ！』
[I understand, I understand you milord!]

ジェラールは心の中で（やっぱりそっち目的も含まれてるんだな）と思いつつも賛成する。
Gerard in mind (also the objective is also included) agrees with me.

我が騎士の賛同も得たことだし、これで３：１で多数を決した。クロトは元から俺に反対しないしな。それでは行くとするか。
I got the approval of our knight, it is decided on majority vote of 3:1. Clotho does not oppose me from the beginning. Well then let’s go.

奴隷商にて、奴隷商人と共に商品を見て回る。当然商品とは奴隷のことだ。
In slave business, I look at the items with the slave merchant. Of course the products are slaves.

「この獣人の娘などはどうでしょうか？ 奴隷になったばかりの為、スキルポイントは使われておりますが、どれも戦闘系のスキルです」
“How about this daughter of a beastman? It just became a slave, skills are used and are related to combat skills”

それなりに容姿の整った獣人を紹介され、俺は鑑定眼を発動させる。確かにスキルは格闘術や剛力を取得しているが……
As the good looking beastman being introduced, I activated the Eye of Appraisal. Surely the skill got fighting techniques and herculean strength……

「悪くはないが、ポイントを使っていない奴隷をお願いしたい」
「そうなりますと、そうですな……」
“I need a slave that is not bad and still haven’t used any skill point”
“That’s right, I guess …”

奴隷商人が思案している中、ふと部屋の隅に目をやると、檻に入れられたエルフがいた。地毛は金髪なのだろうが、汚れて髪がくすんでしまっている。着ている服も他と比べて粗末なものだ。耳がやや短いからハーフエルフか。なぜか手錠をされている。
While the slave merchant is thinking, I suddenly looked at the corner of the room and there was an elf in a cage. I wonder if the hair is blond but it is dirty and dull. Clothes she is wearing is also poor compared to others. Is the ear slightly shorter than a half-elf? Somehow she have been handcuffed.

あのハーフエルフはまだ紹介されていなかったな。
That half-elf has not been introduced yet.

鑑定眼でステータスを見る。
Look at the status with Eye of Appraisal.

「………！？ 店主、あのハーフエルフは？」
「はい？ ああ、アレですか。つい先日流れてきたのですが、呪い持ちでしてね。手で触れた物を燃やしてしまうんです。弓も持てなきゃ玩具としても使えない。高名な僧侶様に解呪して貰っても、呪いは消えませんでした。正直、買い手がなくて困ってるんですよ」
“………!?  Shopkeeper, how about that half-elf?”
“Yes? Oh , that [thing] over there?  It came the other day but it is cursed. It burns the things its hand touches. Even the bow too, it can’t be used as a play-thing too. Even if the monks dismissed the curse, the curse did not disappear. I am troubled because there is no buyer.” 

メルフィーナ、呪いの解除はどの程度で可能だ？
Melfina, how much of the curse you can lift?

『火竜王の呪いですね。Ａ級白魔法【神の救済（セイクリッドブレス）】なら解呪可能です』
[It’s a curse of Fire Dragon King. It is possible to dispel it with the Cla.s.s-A White Magic 【Salvation of G.o.d (Sacred Breath)】]

スキルポイントは…… 大丈夫だ、足りる。
Skill Points… should be fine, sufficient enough.

「この娘、売ってもらえるか？」
「ええ、私としては構いませんが…… よろしいのですか？」
「ああ、よろしく頼む」
“Can you sell this girl?”
“Yes, I do not care, but … is it okay?”
“Yeah, I’ll buy.”

奴隷商人は手錠を外し、ハーフエルフを檻から出るようにただす。
The slave merchant removes handcuffs and let out the half-elf out of the cage.

「出るんだ。お前の買い手が決まった」
「……え？」
“Get out. Your buyer has been decided“
“……eh?”

ハーフエルフは自分を買う者がいるとは思わなかったようだ。檻から出たハーフエルフの体は痩せ細っており、髪もぼさついてしまっている。胸は…… 結構あった。顔は前髪で隠れてしまってよく見えないが、美しい造形をしているのは良くわかる。エルフはこの世界でも美男美女で知られているのだ。ハーフエルフもまた然り、だ。
It seems the half-helf did not think that there is anyone who will buy her. The body of the half-elf is very thin and the hair became so dull. The chest…… it is fine. The face is hidden by the bangs and can not be seen well, but it is well understood that it is beautiful. Elves are known as beautiful in this world. Of course the half-elves too.

「これより、契約の儀を行います」
“For now, I will do the contract ceremony.”

奴隷商人が俺の血を吸わせたハンカチをエルフの首輪に触れさせ、呪文を唱える。
The slave-trader touched the collar of the elf with a handkerchief soaked with my blood and cast a spell.

「これで完了ですな。呪いでどうなっても、私共は責任は持てませんぞ？」
「構わんよ」
“It is done with this. Whatever happens with curses, we won’t take responsibility, okay?”
“That’s enough”

ハーフエルフに向き直る。
I faced the half-elf.

「え、ええと…… 私を買って下さり、ありがとうございます。エフィルと言います」
「俺はケルヴィンと言う。これからよろしく頼む」
「よろしく、お願いします……」
“E-eeto…… Thank you very much for buying me. Efir says.
“I am Kelvin. From now  on please take care of me.”
“Nice to meet you……”

エフィルはまだ緊張しているようだ。
Efir seems to be still nervous.

「あの、私、呪いが……」
「とりあえず、ここを出るとしよう」
“Ano, about my curse … ….”
“Let’s go out of here, for the time being”

人気のない路地裏まで歩いてきた。エフィルがどんどん暗い顔になっていく。
We walked into the deserted alley. Efir’s face is becoming darker.

「あ、あの……」
「それじゃ、エフィルの呪いを解くとしようか」
「……え？」
“A-ano……”
“Well then, shall we break the curse of Efir?”
“……eh?”

先ほど白魔法をＡ級まで上げておいた。ＭＰも十分足りており、後は唱えるだけなのだ。
I raised the white magic to Cla.s.s A earlier. I have enough MP, so I just have to chant it.

神の救済（セイクリッドブレス）を唱える。淡い光がエフィルの手に集約し出し、少しすると光が散った。
I casted 【Salvation of G.o.d (Sacred Breath)】. Faint light wrapped around the hands of Efil, then it scattered after a while.

「これで解呪完了だ」
“It should be done with this.”

試しにエフィルの手を握ってみる。うん、柔らかい。
I tried to grasp Efil’s hands. Yes, it is soft.

「あ、危な――― え……？ な、何で？」
“D-dangerous—eh……? W-what?”

エフィルは信じられないという顔をこちらに向けてくる。そして……
Efir looked at me with face of astonishment. Then……

「う、うええぇぇぇん！」
“U-ueeeeeeen!:

泣き始めてしまった。
She started to cry.
