Through the telepresence headset, Long Yu was able to see the mutated insect that had landed on the roof.
Standing at around 1.8 meters tall, its appearance resembled a praying mantis. However, its body also carried characteristics that could be found in ants.
Its green body was adorned by pieces of shiny black carapace similar to an ant's. On its back was a pair of semi transparent wings that stretched as long as its body.
Looking closely, one could tell that even the legs of the mutated insect were not normal. They were shaped like a reaper's scythe, giving off a dangerous metallic gleam.

[Mutated Flying Mantis]
[An insect given birth by a mutated queen ant that can absorb the characteristics of its prey. These insects tend to travel in a swarm when hunting for preys to bring back to their hive]

Having read the description provided by the system, Long Yu controlled the drone to look into the sky.
After a brief moment of observation, he realised that not all the insects in the swarm were the same. Their appearances indeed varied, like mentioned in the information from the system.
Although their forms were fairly similar, he could tell that they bore characteristics of different species of insects.
'Ugh, let's hope we never come across their hive…' Long Yu thought to himself.
Suddenly, his thoughts were interrupted by loud tapping sounds on the store windows. He took off the telepresence headset and quickly peeked over the rack.
It seems there were some curious mutated insects lingering at the storefront. The rest of the group shivered in fear, thinking that the insects would burst in anytime.
'Alright, it's time,' Long Yu said to himself as he took out a remote control from the system storage.
*Boom!*
With a press of a trigger, a highly charged explosive was detonated not far away from the gas station.
*Zzzzzz*
As expected, the swarm of insects in the sky suddenly changed path and headed towards the explosion.
The insects at the storefront also immediately stopped and took off into the sky.
"Fuuu… that scared me. I thought we were going to die…" manager Zhang let out a breath of relief after seeing the insects leave.

Long Yu ignored him and put the telepresence headset back on. Through the drone, he saw that the swarm that was flying in the sky, were now on their way to the explosion site.
He then commanded the headset to switch to another drone's perspective. This drone had been placed on the east side of the explosion, allowing him to clearly observe the swarm.
The moment the insects got close to the site, a chain of explosions occurred. A storm of fire instantly burst tens of meters into the skies, devouring the lower part of the swarm. These explosions were from the napalm bombs that Long Yu planted earlier after spotting the swarm.
Unfortunately, the flames was not able to encompa.s.s the entire swarm since there was a limit to the explosions' height.
The mutated insects immediately flew higher into the air to avoid the flames. Before they could scatter, another wall of flames spreading a hundred meters wide burst into the skies behind them. These explosions were not intended to damage the insects, but serve as a deterrent to deviate the swarm from its original path.
As mentioned before, Long Yu did not want the insects to be travelling the same direction as them. He did not like the thought of being followed by human sized killer insects.
Fortunately, his plan was a success. Avoiding the clouds of rising smokes, the swarm of mutated insects starting flying west instead of the original north.
…...
Twenty minutes later, Long Yu confirmed that the insects have completely left the area.
"Wait here and don't move around," he instructed the group before exiting the store.
Long Yu activated his nano-machine armor and started sprinting towards the site. Every step he took cracked and sunk the ground due to the enormous force from his feet.
Since he wasn't in a hurry this time around, it took him a little longer to reach the site. He then surveyed the carnage caused by the napalm explosions.
Many dead mutated insects littered the scorched ground. Some had even been burnt into cinders.
"I guess I only managed to take down around ¼ of the swarm…" he muttered as he did some calculations in his head.
'System, check for mutant cores inside the corpses,' he ordered the system.
[No mutant cores detected]
"Haaa… I knew it wouldn't be so easy…." Long Yu lamented at the system's reply.
There were around 50 insect corpses scattered on the ground. Unfortunately, none have cores in them.
"I bet the ant queen has one inside her," he clicked his tongue, but quickly erased that thought.
The number of insects protecting the hive would definitely not only be in the hundreds. Anyway, it was not something he wanted to find out.
After examining the corpses, he found out that they were useless. Although the insects' legs were sharp, they were no stronger than metal. So, he traded all of them to the system and left the site.
