Initially in the afternoon, the three of them had went out to scavenge for resources in the buildings nearby. However, a group of zombies were attracted by sudden gunshots in the vicinity, causing it to move towards their direction.

With the ability of Li Xue Lan to perceive danger, they had managed to avoid the group of zombies at first. However, who knew that another group on the opposite side would also converge towards them. Cornered like mice, they were forced to run into the closest alley.

Just when they thought Li Xue Lan was about to be ripped apart by the group of zombies, a saviour had appeared and saved her from the jaws of death.

The plump man named mister Zhang originally thought that they could find safety from the young man and be let on board the vehicle. However, the young man just left them there and headed towards the vampire plant before he could say anything else.

Left with no choice, they could only quickly find their way back to their usual hiding spot, lest they get spotted by other zombies.

On the way back, mister Zhang's intestine was feeling green with regret inside. He obviously knew the importance of Li Xue Lan's ability to their group's survival.

If he knew that the young man would appear and save them, he would have not left her to die. Or he could at least have pretended to try to save her. Alas, in the face of death, a person's true self would be revealed. In their case, the two of them had decided to abandon the girl to save themselves.

Back when the world was still normal, mister Zhang was the manager of the company that the three of them worked in.

The leader of the fairly large group was apparently a construction worker who had awakened his ability. Having an enhanced physical body, the man could display strength and defence that was several times of a normal person, hence becoming the leader of the group.

Manager Zhang didn't like the leader at all, as he was used to being the one ordering others around. However, since the leader was able to keep the group safe, he did not have the right nor courage to say anything.

One day, the leader suddenly suggested they leave the city and seek help from the military. This was mainly because the resources that they could find was becoming scarcer by the day. They could not access places like supermarkets as they were well 'guarded' by large hordes of zombies.

Although the leader had the power to deal with small groups of zombies, he definitely would not survive against an entire horde.

Having the final say, the survivors in the group could only follow the leader. After a bit of scouting, they realised that all the exits except one, were blocked by multiple hordes; each horde consisting hundreds of zombies.

Someone suggested that they try to ram their way through with vehicles, but the idea was shot down immediately. If they actually did so, they would have been dead in less than a minute.

In the early phase of doomsday, albeit not being any faster than the average human, a zombie's physique is different. It is a lot stronger and more durable. Unless its brain or hearts is damaged, a normal zombie could easily take a punch from a heavyweight boxer, unfazed. Thus, a normal vehicle would surely crumple under such force.

Left with no other option, they could only consider the last route, one which was blocked by a red leafed colossal tree.

Compared to the zombies, the tree gave them less pressure. At least that was what they felt at that time.

While manager Zhang was lost in his thoughts, he suddenly heard the RV's door open.

In front of him stood a young man with a cold expression. The two women behind the middle aged man shivered when they saw the pistol in his hand.

Seeing the fear in their eyes, Long Yu felt a bit awkward. He had no intention in purposely scaring them. Although he didn't see them as a threat, he still took out a gun as it was best to be cautious.

"What is it?" Long Yu finally broke the silence after a while.

Seeing that manager Zhang was still tongue-tied from fear, Li Xue Lan had no choice but to speak up.

"Uhm.. we were wondering if you could spare us some food and water…" a sweet but timid voice came from behind the middle aged man. It was a young lady who wore a neatly tied ponytail. Despite her professional work clothes, her attractive babyface revealed her young age.

After scanning the three of them with his eyes, Long Yu could not stand their pitiful looks. They looked like starved injured puppies.

"Alright, wait here for a moment," he sighed before heading towards the kitchen.
