"Well, first of all, I want to buy this, and this, and that over there..."

Robin easily bought out half the store with two gold coins. After finishing her purchase, she then added.

"Oh, that's right. The girl at the corner stall said you liked using some aromatic beans to add a pleasant scent to your merchandise. Is it possible for me to see some samples of these beans? They sound similar to something from my hometown, you see."

The old dwarf, ecstatic at the large purchase, was more than willing to show her. As he clambered into the back room, Quinn muttered under his breath.

"You use the term 'hometown' quite broadly for an American."

"Yes. I am an American. Where does cacao come from? America. South America, to be precise. By neighborly a.s.sociation, you could consider it to be in America's neighborhood." Robin grinned, roguishly.

"The governments probably don't seem to think so." Quinn pointed out.

Robin merely shrugged. "Then they shouldn't have allowed me to enter. The fact of the matter is that they don't really care about who their people are as long as they pay taxes. But for the fact that I can't stand corruption, I might have had a very pleasant life there."

"...What did you do?" Quinn asked. Christian, who was behind them, couldn't help but overhear everything. He didn't like that Robin and Quinn were getting along enough to speak about their past. But, he also wanted to hear more about Robin. As he was conflicted, he kept his silence.

"I may have punched the president's nephew...more than once...in the face." Robin shrugged. "He literally said to my face to beat him up, so I did."

"Pfft! Sounds like something you would do! Hahah~!" Quinn laughed.

"Whazzat?" Robin frowned, putting on a tough boston accent. "You sayin I'm some sorta punk tha thinks wit his fisticuffs!? Ehh?!" She clenched her fist, threateningly.

"No, I'm saying you're the kind of person to give as well as you get." Quinn sniffed. "You will not disrespect those who do not disrespect you first. Likewise, you will neither instigate, nor involve yourself with trouble unless you are trying to save someone."

Robin lightly punched Quinn's arm, returning to her regular way of speaking. "Good thing you got the answer right. Otherwise I might've really decked you one." She said, pretending to maintain a fearsome scowl upon her face.

"Are you that much of a hothead?" Quinn asked in mock surprise.

"I wonder...They do say that black absorbs more heat than other colors." Robin replied airily.

"But don't worry. I only use my fists on those who annoy me" And Robin cracked her knuckles, before pounding her fist into her hand.

"Wanna try?"

Quinn backed away. "No, thank you. I learned my lesson the last time. I'm good!"

Before they could continue joking around, the old dwarf came back out with a few paper sackets of beans.

"This 'un here has a sharper scent that'll wake ye up right proper." He said, pouring a small handful of beans out onto the table. Robin recognized them as coffee beans.

"Ho! While they're not what I expected, I'm also familiar with these." Robin nodded. "Any others?" She asked.

"Right. Some dinna like tha sharp scent, so instead, I'd use these 'uns here. Smells right lovely if'n ye roast 'em in tha oven." The dwarf poured out a small handful of beans.

"Do you mind if I examine one?" Robin asked, feeling her excitement growing.

"Sure! Go ahead, young'un." The dwarf shrugged.

Robin brought a bean close, to sniff it. The recognizable scent of cacao could lightly be perceived.

"Yup! Just like how I remember them." Robin sighed. "This is it." She told the others.

"Is there anywhere I could find a lot of these?" Robin asked.

"Look no further, young'un. I've got a whole shed-full out back. I can give ye a sackful if'ns ye need it." The old dwarf said amiably.

"Oh? how did you get so many?" Robin asked.

"It was fer mah research a few months back. Ah decided ta pay the littl'uns one honey candy apiece fer an armful of beans. They got so excited about it, Ah ...well, I didnae have tha heart tah tell 'em that Ah didn' need any more...Ye'd be wanting fresh ones, I'll take it?" The dwarf asked, adjusting his spectacles.

"Actually, I'd prefer if they had been sitting out for about 2 weeks." Robin replied. "I'll also take a sack of these other beans here." She pointed at the coffee beans.

"Two weeks? Now that's an oddly specific number. yer lucky I had 'em separated into batches, elsewise, ye'd probably be out of luck." The old dwarf chuckled running his hand down a thinning snowy white beard.

"Ifn's yer willin tah wait, Ah'll get 'em right away." He paused just beyond the door and had a small coughing fit before he left through the back room.

Robin frowned. His coughing fit reminded her of her grandmother. If that was the case... "Hey, did you notice that old dwarf? He coughed."

"Robin, all old men are bound to cough someday, especially in a sulphur-rich town like this." Christian rolled his eyes.

"No...there's something...wrong..." Robin frowned. The dwarf wasn't just thin, he was near skin and bones. Despite owning a honey farm and a candle shop, for him to get that thin was unnatural.

"What do you think, Chelsea? Huh? Where did Chelsea go?" Robin looked around.

"Ah, she was bored waiting, and decided to go look at the stalls since she was feeling under the weather that time we went shopping. Don't worry. Liam is with her." Sir Grey replied.

"Ah...darnit...Quinn, could you speak with the king slime and see if he's willing to examine that old dwarf?" Robin asked.

"I could. But why would you do so much for a complete stranger?" Quinn asked.

Robin didn't need to think twice about her answer.

"What other reason do I need? Because I want to! It may be true that he and I have never met before today. It may be even truer that we may never meet again. But for those who have shown me good will, if only in pa.s.sing, I will not ignore them."

"He could be an evil man." Quinn pointed out.

"Remember this, Quinn. I only have one maxim in life: Bring yourself when arriving. Bring away their troubles when you leave. Acceptance or Refusal shall decide."

"What?...I'm not sure I understand." Quinn said, puzzling over the words.

"Think about it. But first, please relay my request to the slime king." Robin prodded, tapping her belt to bring it out.

"Otherwise, don't ask me for that barrel of Shirley Temple."

"What!? You wouldn't!" Quinn stepped back, alarmed.

"Oh? But I hired you to be a translator. If you don't do your job, why should I pay you?" Robin replied innocently.

"You..." Quinn sighed, unwilling to part with the food of his 'hometown'. "Fine, fine. This isn't worth quibbling over." He quickly relayed Robin's request to the king slime.

"He says it's possible. He was just starting to get hungry again." Quinn replied.

"Whazzat? Yer getting hungry? Sorry, young sir, Ah'm all out of the honey drops at tha moment."

The old man said as he placed the two sacks of beans down on the counter.

"Don't worry about it. You've helped us a lot already." Robin stored the beans in her bracer.

"If you'd like, I have an a.s.sociate who is a healer. I could have him take a look and see if we could help you with that cough of yours."

"Eh? Ye'd do that?" The old man looked surprised. "Are ye a n.o.ble, then?"

Robin glanced at Christian. "Well, yes, you could say that. We're not from around here, but seeing as you've been more than helpful, I'd like to give you a reward."

"Izzat so? So yer healer is a famous 'un?" The old dwarf asked.

"You'd be hard put to find any healer who isn't more well known." Robin replied.

"...All right. Heheh, at the very least, I can say I've been examined by a famous doctor and right baffled 'em agin." The old man went to the front of the store to turn over the open sign to signify he was closed.

"So? Which of yer friends here is tha famed healer?" The old man asked.

"This one." Robin said, holding up the small version of the healer slime in her hand.
