Everyone turned to him startled by his presence but then remembering his question Jinha snorted, "Why do you want a horse?"
Usui looked at him which obviously had 'Are you an idiot?' question written all over his face. Nevertheless, he answered patiently, "I need a horse so that I can join the fight."
Hearing him Freya couldn't believe her eyes. She exhaled angrily at his recklessness, "Why are you seeking for death?"
Jinha raised his eyebrows as he heard her question and glanced at Usui. The others merely glanced at Freya as this was their first time seeing her act like this.
Ignoring their gazes, Freya narrowed her eyes threateningly at him and said, "It is better for you to stay here and rest instead of dying out there in the middle of a fight."
Usui chuckled, "If its that dangerous, then why don't you guys stay inside these walls? Why bother going out and seek death actively?"
Liz was displeased as she heard his question. Her eyes glinted in anger and proceeded to kick him when Freya straightened her hand and blocked her.
"We are different from you. We don't have any type of poison running through our blood."
Everyone turned their heads swiftly to look at Usui who had his smile frozen. Now, they understood why she had given him two chances earlier to forfeit the match.
They pitied this fellow as they all knew that if Freya prevented this guy from fighting it means that there was no cure.
Jinha rubbed his chin as he glanced at Freya's blank face. He squinted his eyes as he thought of something.
Usui heard a shocked voice behind him, "Po-is-on?"
Widening his eyes, Usui turned around stiffly to find his brother standing frozen like a statue.
He swallowed his saliva before he closed his eyes and sighed. He looked at her ocean like eyes and heard her announce coldly before she turned away from him.
"It is better for you to watch and rest your body. I don't want the news of you battling and succ.u.mbing to death be the next reason for another war. We have enough war on our hands and I don't plan on increasing the number on the list. Thank you."
Usui smiled helplessly at her. He knew she was stopping him from being reckless. But, he couldn't help but want to fight. He could feel the intense aura of those demons from here and he was sure that the thunder squad members could feel it too.
He sighed as he watched the troop leave the gates, 'It is going to be a long and hard battle.'
And, turned to his brother who asked again unbelievably, "Poison?"
Usui knew how much this news would break his brother's heart. He stood in silence as he pondered on what to say.
Zelal seeing his brother standing in silence, walked up to him and grabbed his shoulders. He shook him hard while asking for rea.s.surance, "It's not true, right? They were bluffing, right?"
Usui looked at his brother's red eyes which were filled in distress. He closed his eyes as he shook his head slowly. He felt the grip on his shoulders loosen as he heard his frustrated voice.
"Brother, How could you hide this news?"
Usui smiled sadly at him as he said, "What else can I do!"
"You could have told me or father...we could have searched for the cure." Zelal roared.
Usui chuckled as he rubbed his head, "Do you think I didn't do that?"
It was at this question, that everything clicked in Zelal's mind.
