Turning to Rita and the men she asked nonchalantly "Why exactly was the elevator not functioning properly?" she was mad but she was not sure of who she should direct her anger to. The men were already shaking when they heard her cold tone.
"Ma'am, we are so sorry. We didn't mean for the elevator to stop at the time it did. If we had known you and the Chairman was going to use it we wouldn't have stopped it at that time" the man who was the obvious leader of the two said.
Alicia looked at the two of them for a while before she finally stopped the two grown men who were shaking as they apologized. "It is okay, just make sure it does not happen again next time" The two men looked at Alicia in shock. Even Rita was stumped.
The one thing Alicia hated the most are people who are not efficient in their work. So seeing this, that she was just letting them go without reprimanding them or deducting their pay as a form of punishment, they were at a loss of words but they still stood there in case she had something else to say to them.
Alicia looked up and saw the men still standing in her office. "Is there something else you want?" she asked with a frown. "No ma'am" the men answered unanimously. "Then scram" Alicia said. The men didn't wait for Alicia to say anything else before they left her office in a hurry, their tails in between their legs.
A little over an hour later, Rita came in to Alicia's office looking all fl.u.s.tered "Ma'am" Rita said carefully. "Hmm" Alicia answered without looking up from the doc.u.ments she was studying. "There is a little problem that needs your attention"
This time Alicia finally looked up dropping the pen in her hand, she sighed deeply before answering "What is it? Make it quick" she said. Rita looked at her before she continued slowly checking Alicia's expressions as she spoke "Ma'am the chairman just fired the two men who were here earlier"
"What?" Alicia asked in shock, looking at Rita she asked "And I am guessing there is still something else you are not saying" she couldn't find the problem in Prince firing the two although it came as a surprise to her but given the way he was there was nothing new about that.
"Ma'am they have been begging in front of the office for you to help them talk to the chairman" Rita concluded. "I still don't see the problem in what the chairman did just so you know" Alicia said coldly "Ma'am I..." Rita continued but was cut off by Alicia
"But I don't agree to his methods, sure they made a mistake and that could have being fixed with a cut from their pay. Firing them though is definitely not the best solution. Believe me when I say this but there is nothing I can do" Alicia said
"Oh" Rita sighed disappointedly. She knew Alicia was not exactly going to help but she couldn't just watch as two family men were fired just for a simple mistake they made. Alicia saw the disappointment in Rita's face and stood up.
"Ma'am" Rita looked at Alicia in surprise. "Well, if I did not do anything I might really become the witch you all call me" Alicia said with a smile. Rita was pleasantly surprised about this and smiled back at her. "Thank you, ma'am" she said excitedly as Alicia made her way to the door.

"Don't thank me yet, I haven't done anything" Alicia replied to Rita as she left her office, Rita followed her out but stayed at her station. She knew she could only pray for the Chairman to change his mind. Although, she didn't know what exactly transpired between her boss and the Chairman in the elevator she was still sure the men he fired was the wrong solution.
