"What are you doing here nerd?" Black exclaimed, surprised by sudden entry of that man, and got up. He didn't put down his coffee cup though.
Although that man was wearing rectangular shaped gla.s.ses, with those long hair and st.u.r.dy built, he didn't look like a nerd at all. Instead of nerdiness, I could feel this confident person vibe from him as if he was a leader.
"Uncle Michael!" Both Jeanne and Jean shouted excitedly and ran towards that guy. Michael... Wasn't that the name of the angel who was previously ent.i.tled as the strongest?
"You guys are here too?" Michael exclaimed with a smile on his face. "How are you doing?" Michael asked as he patted their head. The kids were obviously happy with the sudden arrival of someone they knew and chirped happily in Michael's presence.
"We're good!"
"Did he bully you? You can tell me if he did. I'll teach him a lesson."
"No... He is very nice to us," Jeanne replied. All her fear towards Black had disappeared over the weeks she spent in this house. No girl could resist the charms of the sweetest angel. But this sometimes worried me. Black was sure to break many of hearts without even knowing.
"So this is the legendary scarf." The white scarf hanging on the stand near the door caught Michael's attention as he looked around the hall. He pushed the kids aside and went forward to pick it up. Lilith went forward and made herself comfortable on the empty seat where I was previously sitting. My friends had stopped talking and were carefully watching things happen.
"Stop messing around with my stuff nerd," Black said with fierceness in his eye. That scarf was his reverse scale. No one is to touch it, except me of course. The ones who would touch it will never have a good ending. It was a given that every angle and devil knew it. I couldn't understand why Michael was trying to irk my Black.
Black walked and the distance between the two shortened. I could see in my Black's eyes that he had every desire to hit this person. Despite Black's frightening gaze, Michael didn't put down the scarf.
"Ma'am. I guess you didn't teach manners to this madman," Michael said in a respectful manner as he looked at me. I hated the way that a.s.shole was referring to Black. I wouldn't mind much if he called me stuff but I would mind if someone calls my Black with those names.
"Do you want me to beat you up again, little Mikie?" Black laughed and sipped his coffee. I guess Black found it dumb to fight with this person again whom he had once single-handedly wrecked.
"You both should stop being so immature," Lilith commented. Michael finally let go of that scarf and placed it over the stand again, albeit reluctantly.
"Why did you bring him here?" Black asked Lilith, dissatisfied that Lilith will tell others the place he was staying at.
"He's the boss. I got to do what he asks of me," Lilith sighed helplessly. Perhaps this Michael was higher than Lilith in the hierarchy of angels? I found it funny how she could comment on her superior for being immature. In the corporate world, this would lead to her being fired up from work in an instant. But this woman didn't suffer at all for her words.
"I need to talk. Can we go somewhere alone?" Michael replied seriously this time. That frivolous behaviour from before disappeared with the speed of lightning. Black nodded and then he led Michael to the drawing room. The kids went upstairs to rest and I sat down with my friends again.
"Don't worry. Michael was just surprised to see Black that way after so long. He was just teasing him." Lilith said, perhaps she saw my tense expression.
"Hi," Lilith extended her hand to nearby sitting Mirajane for a handshake. "You must be Eve's friends. I'm Lilith. Black's friend."
"Nice to meet you. I'm Mirajane."
"I'm Amber."
I had to say Lilith was just too perfect. In a few minutes, she had started talking like we all four childhood friends and it didn't feel weird at all. There was this certain charm she had that you cannot help but trust her. The way she moved her hands now and then to express and the accent in which she spoke always appeared so graceful as if she was a n.o.ble. Her smile was always gentle like a beautiful spring breeze.
I couldn't help but be a little envious of her. Black always says he ain't worthy of me. But I wondered if I was worthy of my Black. Perhaps only someone as perfect as this lady would be worthy of him. I shook my head and threw that thought to the back of my mind to rot. Worthy or not, it's for him to decide. And he had already decided, just like I had.
Another doorbell interrupted my thoughts. This time, it was my aunt and little Luna. I welcomed them inside. Luna was holding my aunt's finger in her little hand but as soon as she saw Lilith, she let go of her mother's hand and walked to Lilith. Lilith held Luna in her arms and started playing with her. My aunt was too surprised by Luna's action of going towards a stranger.
A few minutes later, my Black and Michael had returned back to the hall after their brief discussion. As soon as Luna saw my Black, she raised both of her hands in the direction of my Black as if she was asking Black to pick her up. Her eyes glimmered with a strange light as if she was looking at a giant cotton candy instead of a person. My Black laughed up on her actions and picked her up.
Michael walked across the table and sat down to the opposite side of Lilith. The seats were limited and thus I offered my own to my aunt. She denied at first but because of my insistence, she eventually accepted. I walked ahead and stood by my Black's side.
"Wifey!" Black shouted loudly all of a sudden.
His voice was so loud that my heart stopped beating for a second. Everyone went silent all of a sudden. I turned my head towards him in fear something terrible had happened all of a sudden.
And as I did, I felt his hand on my waist. He pulled my waist forcefully with his right hand and tugged me near his body. The next thing I knew was that his lips were touching mine. My body turned stuff as I felt his soft lips a.s.sault me. And when I finally realized I was getting a kiss stolen, I melted.
I kissed him back, this time to congratulate him. He won that little game of ours. Black accepted my 'congratulation' with a 'thank you'. How bad a player I was to lose even with a 2-0 lead? But I didn't regret losing. I'd be happy to lose every time if I'm playing against him. I wondered what might be the thing he would dare me to do after winning.
After G.o.d knows how long, we broke the kiss. I saw Luna gawking upon us, wondering what was happening. I realized that there were many guests around and they were probably looking at us.
Blood rushed towards my head and I felt my face was all flushed. I didn't dare to look in their direction. I kept my head low. I planned to look towards the ground with until this embarra.s.sing silent moment was over. But this husband of mine. He still proudly smiled with his head up as if he had conquered the world.
My aunt finally broke the silence.
"Are you guys into voyeurism? At least keep my baby out of it."
