Yu Lanjie said, “Alright, smooth sailing!”
“Thank you!” Long Xi smiled.
Yu Lanjie then added, “I wish you success! By the way, brother Chuan asked me to tell you that he has pa.s.sed the art exam. As long as his college entrance examination result is above the minimum pa.s.sing score, he will be admitted into the music department of the film university in City B.”
Long Xi said, “There won't be any problems. He's always performed well in his studies. It must be no big deal. Xiao Lu also pa.s.sed the art examination. I promised him to do synchronized bungee jumping, but I'm afraid he will have to wait until I get back from the reality show. Lan, how about you? Do you have any confidence in yourself?”
“My goal is the Department of Archaeology in University Qinghui. I'm quite confident about it. I have been very interested in archaeology since I was young and I really want to study it. You and brother w.a.n.gchuan have helped me so much. I really appreciate it. Thank you!” Yu Lanjie said.
“Don't mention it. If you really want to thank me, a movie will do,” Long Xi said and laughed. “Well, that's it. I have to go home and pack up to catch the plane!”
Long Xi hung up the phone, went back to the Clear Lake Dream Gallery with Lord Mo Kun, packed up her luggage, and took a taxi to the airport.
The sunset was beautiful as it got closer to dusk.
They checked in, said goodbye to granny and went through security.
The X-ray security machine suddenly detected contraband in Long Xi's backpack. It turned out to be a small fruit knife. There were also some apples and a bag of blueberry bread. Granny had put them in Long Xi's backpack in case the in-flight meals didn't taste good.
Long Xi took out the knife, handed it back to Granny and said goodbye again.
Long Xi hated leaving Granny there alone. Upon noticing her mood, Mo Kun took her in his arms.
She hated saying goodbye.
She had never been so far away from her Granny for such a long time.
They waited in the terminal for about half an hour before boarding was announced and they finally entered the gate.
The sun went down and the moon came out.
The plane was like a huge white bird, standing gracefully at one end of the airport in the moonlight.
Long Xi felt better when she saw this.
It felt like a voice called gently from afar.
Her backpack was heavy. It contained everything, including food, clothes, a purse, her ID card, skin care products, cosmetics, a comb, towels, an umbrella, a mobile phone, a medicine book, even a whole set of sewing tools. Mo Kun helped her put it on the rack.
Suddenly, an old couple came and sat down on the seat in front of them. The old man was unable to put his bag on the rack. Mo Kun offered to help.
Long Xi sat near the window. “Do you like the scenery above?” Mo Kun asked her. “The weather will be fine tomorrow morning. The clouds must be beautiful. It will be the perfect time to take pictures.”
“Let's take selfies. It's the first time we travel together.” Long Xi suggested with a smile.
She took out her mobile phone and took selfies with Mo Kun.
“I'm going to the washroom,” Mo Kun said.
He got up and made his way to the washroom.
Long Xi looked out of the window. The plane had yet to take off!
A young man came and sat down next to her. He was skinny, with a messy wool-like curly hairdo and small but smart eyes. He was not really handsome, but he had the warmest of smiles and there was a small dimple on his cheek.
“h.e.l.lo, my name is Qin Kuai. (A h.o.m.ophone of diligence.) My dad wants me to be a diligent person, and my friends call me a chatterbox. What's your name, pretty girl?”
He was funny. Long Xi was amused.
“Q, my name is Q,” she answered hesitantly. There was no need to tell a total stranger her real name.
“Q?” He repeated it with an uncertain tone. “That's a good name. Mysterious, reserved, but beautiful just like you.”
Long Xi flushed with embarra.s.sment and went silent.
However, she wasn't a good liar. Her friends said that she was a debater with quick wits. Mo Kun described her as an independent, strong-willed, efficient and cheerful person, as spicy as Sichuan pepper but tasty.
Qin Kuai asked, “Are you visiting relatives, traveling or studying?”
“Traveling,” Long Xi answered.
“A beautiful young lady traveling alone? You have to be alert,” he said with a Cantonese accent. Long Xi guessed that he was from Guangdong Province.
The “chatterbox” didn't seem to expect an answer. He moved on immediately. “You need to know some basic movements to defend yourself.”
Long Xi thought this man was overzealous.
She only smiled and said nothing. She was looking out at the clouds while waiting for Brother Kun to get back.
Qin Kuai, who was in high spirits, continued talking. He leaned closer to Long Xi and said, “For example, if a bad guy seizes you from the back, what should you do?”
Long Xi realized that what he had said just now was about self-defense, but his p.r.o.nunciation was not standard, which caused a misunderstanding. Long Xi had misunderstood.
She turned and faced him.
He became more excited and talkative when he saw that Long Xi was listening. “Do you have any idea what the best weapon at a woman's disposal is? The handbag? Her high heels? Or her fists and feet? No, although these are good weapons, they are not the best one. What is it? It's her screams! Yes, that's it, women need to scream at the highest pitch possible! Any time you are in danger, remember to scream out for help. People will come and help you… ”
He talked, and talked and talked. She knew that there was a Cantonese saying about how much one liked talking with people, which was a perfect description of him. It was no wonder that he was called a chatterbox.
Long Xi felt like her head was oversized, as if countless bees were buzzing in her ears.
He had no intention of stopping. Thus, Long Xi finally said, “Excuse me, I need some rest.”
Maybe it was a little rude, but she was really not in the mood to listen to his endless talks.
When she saw Lord Mo Kun coming back from the washroom, she thought that finally someone would come and spare her this embarra.s.sment.
Suddenly, Qin Kuai felt someone looking at him from the back. He turned his head and saw Mo Kun's face. He stood up immediately and said, “Sorry, I didn't know this seat was occupied.”
He left quickly with a small wicked smile, looking quite not like himself.
The two didn't find out that Qin Kuai was actually Feng Zihao in an arcane ancient disguise.
Lord Mo Kun sat down as Qin Kuai walked away.
He looked at Long Xi and teased her. “Xi, you are really a gentleman-killer, aren't you?”
“Am I? I've seen those stewardesses trying to flirt with you!” Long Xi answered.
Mo Kun said, “You sure? I see no one but you!”
“What a coincidence! So do I. We've reached an agreement,” Long Xi said.
Mo Kun smiled. Long Xi always had her way of making him happy!
The stewardess brought the airplane meal and Lord Mo Kun had some. After the meal, he watched a movie and slept like a log. He had been able to fall asleep quickly everywhere ever since he had been a child.
Long Xi couldn't sleep, so she started listening to music.
She then took a photo of Lord Mo Kun while he was asleep.
His face was more peaceful when he slept. He was snoring lightly with a bolster in his hand. He slept like an innocent baby. It was said that people who slept in a fetal position felt insecure deep down.
Long Xi decided to play a prank on him, just like she used to do to Yan w.a.n.gchuan during her childhood. She took out a black pen and painted a racc.o.o.n on his face. Then, she took a photo of his awkward look.
Lord Mo Kun woke up after four hours of sleep.
He did not find out what Long Xi had done to his face. Instead, he chatted with Long Xi with that lovely “makeup” still on while Long Xi tried really hard not to laugh but failed.
She couldn't help but burst into laughter.
Mo Kun finally realized that something was wrong and touched his face. There was black ink all over his hand.
