Jessy walked up at 8:00 in the morning.
After eating breakfast in the canteen alone, she went to the clinic and starts the blood transfusion for the day. While she was undergoing the blood transfusion with the recipient in the next bed her mind recalled what happened inside the cave last night.
Inside the cave...
The bonfire was shining brightly illuminating the entire clearing of the cave, there were rocks in there the size ranging from small to medium and large. However, there is no living person inside, but she was sure that the bonfire doesn't appear on its own out of anywhere, somebody must have started the fire!
It must be a living person who was responsible for the fire.
How about a ghost?
Evil?
Demons?
Or Aliens?
Dwarfs, witches, sorcerers?
Did they even exist in today's modern society?
She only has knowledge of vampires as the supernatural being existed on the planet earth other than that she has yet to meet any of the beings she mentioned above.
She was more than intrigued—what is the ident.i.ty of the said being that made the bonfire? It would be impossible to see a human being in there considering that it was a previous hideout of those incapacitated vampires.
A big mystery for her to unravel!
While she has no qualms facing humans, since they are not powerful beings, facing other ent.i.ties with supernatural power might be a different thing and a different experience for her.
What if the being in that cave wants her to show her self first? before it will appear in front of her, what if they both have powers that will enable them to be invisible? that's why she didn't see the ent.i.ty.
How to lure that mysterious ent.i.ty out to show itself?
'I guess I need to go back there!' she said to herself. It's the only way she can learn the ident.i.ty of the being that started the bonfire.
What if the ent.i.ty turns out to be a vampire bearing the Eight Point Star Symbol and there are many of them hiding?
How will she deal with them?
As the king says...they are punishable by death so she must follow the rules and kill anyone who got the symbol on their nape.
The first blood transfusion went well.
It's lunchtime break with her mother in the clinic.
"Mom, all your life, have you meet any powerful being aside from vampires?" she asked nonchalantly.
Sarah's brows furrowed. "No. I think only the vampires exist in this world."
"But Granny Alicia told me that there are mermaids living in the deepest part of the ocean in remote islands on this planet. She has mermaid friends," she spoke in a low voice.
Sarah's eyes widened. "And who is this Alicia—?"
"Just a thousand years old vampire friend of mine, she is now converted to a mortal being, she even pa.s.sed on her power to me," she whispered on her mother's ears.
"Really—so mermaids are real? eh?" Sarah commented not truly convinced.
Jessy nodded her head in affirmation.
"So child, how's the blood transfusion going?" Sarah changed the topic not interested in mermaids.
"I'm doing fine, Mom, in normal days I can do 5 transfusion and other days, I can do 6...but most of the time it's just 4 or 5...depending with my schedule," she blurted out.
"Schedule? Huh? What kind of schedule?" Sarah raised her brows out of curiosity.
Jessy grinned. "Sometimes I go to the mansion to visit Nana Aida, then go to Adam's place or just roamed around the Facility and Habitat to do some air patrolling around the vicinity just in case there are enemies lurking in the shadows," she explained. She refrained from telling her mother that she had made contact with the military officials and she also goes out a lot during her free time.
"So you'd been getting out of the facility—a lot?" Sarah asked, alarmed.
Jessy saw the worry in her mother's eyes. "What is wrong mother? I'm adult enough to do my own thing and besides you don't have to worry about me because I already know how to use my power, I'm safe wherever I go," she tries to defend her escapades and activities outside the Facility.
Sarah breathed deeply and looked at her daughter's face. "Just be careful, child, your body is still human, it would be much better if you stay inside the Facility to avoid alerting the government officials of your existence and for your own good as well," she said sternly.
Jessy pouted. "Mom, what is the use of my power if I can't use it? My skill will get rusted!" she reasoned while grinning at her mother.
Sarah groaned and was shaking her head fiercely, sighing she stared at her daughter. "Jessy!" she was about to reprimand her again.
"Okay fine, Mom, I will try to keep a low profile," Jessy quickly said just to put an end to her mother's apprehension.
They continue eating lunch in silence.
Jessy was toying with the idea of telling her mother about Grandpa Waldo, but it's too early yet, Nana Aida and Grandpa Waldo might not be comfortable with each other and his stint in the mansion will be short-lived. She will wait after grandpa will settle comfortably in the mansion and observes if he can go along fine with Nana if there is no problem, that will be the time to tell her parents about her newly hired gardener, for now, she will just keep her mouth shut.
Done with lunch mother and daughter exited the canteen and goes their separate ways.
...
Jessy went back to the clinic and resumed another round of blood transfusion. She is planning to explore the cave this afternoon while there's still daylight left.
She will have a two hours break after 4:00.
She will enter the cave once again and explore its nook and crannies looking for clues. The surrounding areas around the cave is also a place of interest, they might give her a hint pointing to the ident.i.ty of the being living in that cave. Actually, the cave is habitable, it's a great shelter from bad weather, such as rain, typhoons, snowstorms, thunderstorms, lightning, tornadoes and others.
She'd been busy thinking about the mysterious ident.i.ty in the cave that she didn't know that time had flown too fast.
The blood transfusion ended.
The doctor released her for a two hours break.
She rushed out of the clinic and went to her room, she hastily donned her black ensemble on her body, in just five minutes—she was ready to go out of the Facility to continue her investigation of the cave.
She transformed into her invisible form and teleported outside the Facility.
Once outside, she rose in the air, hovering above the towering trees that surrounded the Facility, then she zoomed in lightning speed towards the location of the mountains thousand miles away.
A few moments later.
She finally arrived at the top of the mountain which is the current object of her interest, then she lowered herself into the ground. Her shoes finally touched the ground.
She did not enter the cave right away, she scanned her eyes around the area, the place is inhabited by tall trees, wild bushes, and vines, plants of all types grows in the forest she also saw some banana plants teeming with ripe and green banana fruits nearby, there are some wild trees and plants bearing fruits growing around the area and she had no idea what are their names.
And there's a stream that's trickling with water, it can be heard going into the entrance of the cave.
The light of the sun illuminated the forest with a warm radiance, giving the plants a golden glow.
It's a beautiful place—surrounded by the forest's magnificent beauty—the atmosphere that surrounds Jessy has an ethereal quality to it.
But she can't stay for a longer time there and enjoy the beauty of the surroundings, she has to investigate the cave farther.
After spending a few minutes in the outside vicinity of the cave only hearing the occasional chirping of the birds up in the trees, she still can't find any traces of any being, she's ready now to go inside the cave.
She entered the cave.
