Chapter 791: Imminent Start of School
Even the weather forecast department didn’t expect 7 to 8 days of continuous sand and dust storms towards the end of summer vacation.
The sky was covered in yellow dust. If you stood outside for half an hour, you would be turned into a terracotta warrior.
In this kind of weather, even cults and cram school will need to be temporarily closed, thus my plan to infiltrate the Happy Science Cult was postponed.
However, I still had to brave the sand and wind to go to Dr. Yu’s place on schedule for medical checkups and the usual blood donation.
Although my blood was mainly used to research painkillers and didn’t have any benefits to my heart problems, the good news was that it didn’t create any significant harm either. The amount of blood drawn each time was so small that it didn’t affect my daily life.
I was becoming more and more used to having the heart disease. I could control it precisely to the point where I could perform three minutes of vigorous exercise, and then stop just in time when my heart rate is about to exceed acceptable limits.
In one experiment where Dr. Yu was present, I managed to extend the time of the exercise to four minutes, but my body went limp near the five-minute mark due to my heart beat speeding up too quickly and Dr. Yu had to give me first aid.
“Three minutes isn’t bad.” Dr. Yu advised me, “If you’re actually moving this intensely, there are many healthy men who can’t even last three minutes.”
“No!” I yelled out the window at the yellow dust, “Three minutes is too short! I have to last at least five minutes!”
004, who was making doing his patrols through the sand and dust storms, happened to be pa.s.s by the window. He probably overheard my conversation with Dr. Yu and looked at me with a sympathetic gaze.
Screw your sympathy! You don’t even know about my heart problems, do you? Why are you looking at me with a pitying expression like you want to say “it’s not easy to be a man”? Does your code name 004 mean that you can last 4 minutes?!
Ai Mi preferred the sand and dust storms weather. Since they couldn’t shoot any outdoor scenes, they could only shoot some of the interior scenes at Film City, so her workload and work difficulty were reduced.
On the contrary, I heard that Kyle was very dedicated, he suggested to seize the opportunity and film the “dragon slaying in desert” scene. It could test the durability of the camera equipment and let him work on his senses——so he had his wish fulfilled and ate mouthful of sand.
Serves him right! Why didn’t he get blown away by the wind? Isn’t he the reason a 14 year old who was addicted to the internet ended up stabbing their own father to death? Isn’t he the reason Christine Fan couldn’t have kids with her husband? Isn’t he the reason the giant isopod “No. 1” from a j.a.panese aquarium died after not eating for over 5 years?
As long as disappears, humanity can achieve utopia, beat cancer, and colonize s.p.a.ce… it’s such a simple principle, so why can’t you understand that you’re a hindrance to the development of the human race?
“China’s sand and dust storms are nothing…”
Ai Mi muttered once while staring out the window of the RV.
She was about to head to Film City to shoot an interior scene. It was obvious she didn’t like the fact that the sand and dust storms weren’t large enough to close all the roads.
“Last year, I encountered a sandstorm in Phoenix which reached over 600 meters in height. It looked like the end of the world from afar, now that’s what a sand and dust storm should be… the sand and dust storms in China are inferior!”
Hey, I would understand if you complain about China’s environmental pollution, but what do you mean by “even natural disasters aren’t as bad as the ones in the United States”! Is that even something to be proud of? Once the Yellowstone volcano erupts, you’ll have the most powerful natural disaster in the world, and then all other countries will concede defeat!
What’s so great about America! In fact, America isn’t fashionable at all! Let’s use place names as an example. “New York” translates to “New Village”. Ai Mi also just mentioned “Phoenix City” which is basically just a giant flame bird, it’s about equivalent to China’s Baoji…
The sand and dust storm was expected to last until September and even delay the start of school, but on August 31, Dong Shan city received heavy rain that doused the sand and dust storm.
The weather turned wet and cold as a result, with the lowest temperature reaching 13 degrees (C) at night. The next day was cloudy and sunny, so we couldn’t avoid going to school.
Everyone lamented that summer vacation was really short, especially Winnie who still hadn’t finished her summer homework.
The schedule for 28 Middle’s new semester was to arrive at 8am on September 1st to hand in your summer homework and pick up your new textbooks. September 2nd was the opening ceremony and cla.s.ses officially began on September 3rd.
I heard that Qing Zi Academy was even worse than us. While they also had to go to school on September 1st, they even had a preliminary exam on August 31st. It was good Ai Mi was exempted from taking it due to her connection with Xiao Qin.
I was quite surprised at first why it was because of Xiao Qin and not because of the LOL team captain, Ren Peng, but after a little thought, it dawned on me.
Ren Peng’s father, Ren HongDe, did not support Ren Peng playing games all day and was against him joining Ai Mi’s professional team. That’s why a plea from Xiao Qin, his niece, was more effective than a plea from Ren Peng.
As the saying goes ‘there’s no such thing as a free lunch’. Ai Mi got some benefits from Xiao Qin, so their relationship improved slightly. But Ai Mi still calls Xiao Qin ‘Maid Qin’, but Xiao Qin doesn’t get mad.
Not only did our summer vacation end, but we also ended our second year of middle school and went up a grade from cla.s.s 2-3 to cla.s.s 3-3, which was quite uncomfortable at first and was particularly confusing.
At the start of the new semester, it would inevitably lead to headaches, diarrhea, constipation, and all kinds of physical discomfort. In cla.s.s 3-2, which was Shen ShaoYi’s cla.s.s, there was a boy who felt too much stress from school and didn’t want to go back. He took ¥20,000 in cash from his home and fled to Nanjing by train.
The police were immediately dispatched in an emergency and caught him right when he arrived in Nanjing, before he could check into his hotel and was taken back to school.
He cried out on the spot: “I don’t want to go back to school! You can lock me up! I’d rather go to jail than to school!”
The police officer who also attended school sympathized with me, then brought him back to school.
The only part I found ridiculous about the whole event: How the f.u.c.k did you find ¥20,000 in cash laying around your house? I wouldn’t even be able to find close to that amount! It’s not easy running an online adult goods store!
“(^__^) hehehe… I can finally sit next to Ye Lin cla.s.s five days a week again.”
Xiao Qin said with a happy face in the seat to my right.
After we went up a grade, the cla.s.sroom was also changed from the second floor to the third floor. It was closer to the teacher’s office and made everyone feel an inexplicable pressure.
The seating arrangement was also changed slightly, but Xiao Qin and I still sat next to each other, which was essentially no different for me when compared to the cla.s.sroom on the second floor.
As Gong CaiCai was collecting summer homework while trembling, Winnie was frantically copying at triple the speed, hoping she could finish her homework in the last few minutes.
Xiao Qin and I both completed our summer homework. Basically, I copied Xiao Qin’s answers for our liberal arts and humanities cla.s.ses, and Xiao Qin copied my answers for our sciences cla.s.ses. Our correct answer rate was probably close to the cla.s.s leader’s.
Teacher Yu became the teacher-in-charge of a third year cla.s.s, so he had more responsibilities. However, he seemed full of spirit today as he said:
“Here’s the reason for the sand and dust storm weather in Dong Shan city: Dong Shan city has an alluvial fan. In the current Quaternary period, the surrounding mountains had been covered by ice. Later, due to atmospheric warming, the ice melted and huge pieces of ice slid down the slope…”
d.a.m.n, are you an English teacher or a geology teacher! You can’t give us general geography knowledge just because the geography teacher lives across the street from your house! If you like geography so much, why don’t you just get married to the geography teacher (the geography teacher is a man)! Because it rained yesterday, the temperature dropped significantly, so the students in our cla.s.s, both boys and girls, didn’t wear summer clothes anymore. Many of them directly wore the school uniform for the spring and autumn period——the most cla.s.sic style of uniform in China, the tracksuit——after wearing this school uniform, it felt like we were about to be punished.
In short, we wouldn’t be able to see girls in skirts anymore, but there was also another element of beauty, Eunuch Cao said: he wouldn’t be able to fall asleep in the most boring math cla.s.s if he fantasizes girls’ with well-developed bodies wearing a slightly larger tracksuit.
As expected, Zhuang Ni didn’t come, but Loud Mouth helped her pick up her new textbooks. I don’t know if she was planning on doing self-study at home or she would come to cla.s.s in the third year.
After handing in our summer homework and receiving our new textbooks, most students can go home and rest. We would wait to attend the opening ceremony tomorrow and officially attend cla.s.ses the day after, before entering the h.e.l.lish final year before our final middle school exams.
But I, as cla.s.s 2-3’s… no, cla.s.s 3-3’s PE committee member, had to stay behind and partic.i.p.ate in a small cla.s.s meeting held by the cla.s.s leader for all the committee members.
Xiao Qin wanted to wait in the corner for me so we could go home together. I used an excuse and told her it might take a long time, and the meetings weren’t suitable for regular students and told her to head home first.
Xiao Qin didn’t have menstrual pains anymore, so I wasn’t worried about her carrying all the new textbooks home.
Actually, I don’t know about other cla.s.ses, but the cla.s.s leader’s meetings don’t contain any content that isn’t suitable for regular students. The cla.s.s leader would never abuse her power even if you held her at gunpoint.
I think the meeting is going to be about one, the matters related to tomorrow’s opening ceremony, and two, the matter about my PE committee member position.
The cla.s.s leader knew I had heart problems, so there was no way she would give me a position that often requires physical activity. Since my heart problems was a secret, it would be hard to let me resign from the position without exposing my secret.
Without a reasonable explanation, I’m afraid that others in the cla.s.s committee (such as the physics cla.s.s representative Niu ShiLi) wouldn’t accept it so easily.
