Meeting Again 3 Transfer

"Morning" I heard some dispa.s.sionate greetings back.

"Hey, good morning" I heard a voice right behind me. It was a more lively greeting than the others. I turned to see a woman in her late twenties with pretty oval face, dazzling smile, a little overweight and brown hair which were tied in bun. She was Tanya.

"Tanya" I smiled. She was my first friend after I joined the hotel and after 3 years of job we have become quite close. She is one bright ray of sunshine

"Have you decided to starve yourself?" she asked looking at my unhealthy colour, "I am sure you missed your breakfast to make it in time. Here have this" she said handing me a plate of b.u.t.ter bread toast, egg sunny side up and some sausages.

"You really are busybody" I couldn't help smiling. She was a caring lady. I wish I could get a nanny as caring as her, then I wouldn't have to worry about Twen.

I worked in 'The Grandé' restaurant of the hotel which was multi cuisine restaurant and was extremely busy during breakfast and dinner time when the guest normally come back or leave.

I quickly put on the ap.r.o.n and shoe and covered my long hair in plastic head cover. I, being the incharge of the Grandé restaurant has to start with the briefing. I could already tell, it would be a busy day.

It was almost after midnight when my shift ended. Seriously, what people do toiling around so late in the restaurant! As I was packing my stuff, my executive chef approached me. He was an overweight man with round face, little goatee, black kind eyes and neatly cut hair.

"Good evening, Chef Samuel" I greeted with a smile

He rubbed his nose with an awkward smile, "Good evening Tony. How's everything going"

"Brilliant" I flashed another broad smile

"Good good" he smiled, "Ahhh Tony I have a news"

"What's it Chef?"

"You know about the recent launch of Exquisite Hotel Chain's new Resort, Elegance?" he asked speaking in a slightly awkward tone

"Yes" I said cautiously

"The General Manager wants to transfer some of the experienced Chef there and well, I recommended you" he said it fast as if to make it sound less unpleasant

"What? Chef? I only have three years experience" I said surprised

"Yes but you have experience in other restaurants and also you are very dedicated and hardworking. How many chefs make it to Sous Chef in just 3 years? You have what it takes to be in a start up"

"Chef, That's not the problem. The distance is the factor. You know that resort is pretty much out of city for the tourist to enjoy a good time at beach. I have a son" I said sounding a little frantic.

"I know I know. They have said that they will arrange your accomodation. As for his school, I can drop and pick him" Chef Samuel spoke in a convincing tone

I hit my forehead with my palm. Just when I was starting to settle down.

"Do I have a choice?" I asked already sensing the answer

"Ugh Uhm NO" Chef Samuel said apologetically.

What a trouble! I shouldn't have been all excited in the morning. I jinxed my own peace. I looked at Chef Samuel and gave a slightly bitter smile, "When is the transfer?"

"Its next month. Pack all things you need, if you want, Twen can stay with me" Chef said looking genuinely concerned

Well, it's fine. Just a change of location what's the big deal. Since, I changed cities, location shouldn't be a big deal

"No, Twen will stay with me, but regarding his dropping and picking, I ll leave it to you. I don't understand this rich people, why open a resort, there are all read 32 hotels all around the city"

"Oh this was not the Chairman's decision. I heard his son, who is the current CEO suggested the Elegance Resort project seeing the prospect of profit from the main attraction of our city, the Beaches. I heard a rumor that, the Chairman wanted to test his son's capability, so he handed him the entire project and given him the deadline of 2 years to make it a successful one"

"I once heard mum say this to me, rich people are more greedy than commoners. So true. They are already swimming in money but they still want more. Anyway, I ll be taking my leave now"

"Yes take care Tony. And say my greetings to Twen" Samuel smiled and waved me goodbye.

He is a nice man. He was the one who took care of me after I changed cities. So, I can't even say no to him.

"Transfer! Haaah...No problem. I can handle it" I thought to myself confidently after sitting behind the wheels
