Chapter 75 - Do You Think There’s a Problem with Li Si Ran
He Mu Sheng rapped his knuckles on the tabletop and reminded her, “Our agreement is to divorce after three years unless you have someone you like?”
At present, He Yue Jin stepping down was only known internally and it had not yet been announced to the outside world. As to whether or not the He group’s share prices would drop after the announcement or if there would be any other changes, it was uncertain. Therefore, a divorce at this time obviously wasn’t the best option. If it wasn’t done properly, it could offend the Jiang family. Destroying the bridge after crossing the river and making enemies were the two taboos of the business world. He was a businessman and would not agree to do this.
But Jiang Qi was a headstrong girl. Just like initially, in order to enter the modelling industry, she had been willing to sign a confidentiality agreement when marrying He Mu Sheng. Now that she had finished her studies, she wanted her freedom back. After all, with the t.i.tle of Mrs. He, it wasn’t convenient to go anywhere.
“Yes, I like a young guy, the little milk dog type, very cute.”
She had a pair of expressive eyes. Without much makeup, her eyes were clever and sparkled when she mentioned little milk dog.
He Mu Sheng tugged at his tie with some irritation. After some quick weighing of pros and cons, he said with a frown, “You can be with him but it’s best that you don’t get photographed by the media. Also, no intimate contact.”
He couldn’t interfere with her feelings but he didn’t want her to make him wear a green cap.
Jiang Qi looked at him in disbelief with an expression of “what was this big brother saying” on her face and said, “You mean, I’m allowed to cheat but only a platonic extramarital affair is allowed?!”
Unexpectedly, this facial paralysis was quite fashionable. He deserved to be the president since his way of thinking was on the cutting edge of the West.
He Mu Sheng stood up and didn’t want to answer, his heart resistant to this incident. As a man, could he tacitly agree to his wife cheating? Even though it was an arranged marriage, he couldn’t do it. Possessiveness was playing a role.
“Alright, let’s eat together later.” He forced the end of the subject and used their internal line to ask the secretary to book a restaurant, not giving Jiang Qi a chance to refuse.
“Hey, I have something on in the evening.” She protested immediately.
Without lifting an eyelid, He Mu Sheng only said two words, “Postpone it.”
Seeing that she still wanted to evade it, he said unhappily, “If you still want to be together with that whatever dog, you’d better be more obedient.”
Jiang Qi wondered for a long time what dog he was referring to. Was it little milk dog? She couldn’t help but roll her eyes and ridiculed under her breath, “Old leader!”
He Mu Sheng seemed to hear it and looked up at her, a dangerous glimmer in his eyes. “What did you say?”
Jiang Qi blinked and feigned innocence. “Huh? I didn’t say anything.”
She wouldn’t admit it even if she died.
He Mu Sheng didn’t pursue it. After all, she was only twenty-four and very young, two generations away from him. Their industry focus was also different. There were constant changes in the entertainment circle and many messy issues. He couldn’t learn it even if he wanted to…
“I’ll leave first. After you make reservations, send me the location.”
As soon as Jiang Qi left, He Mu Sheng called the secretary in and asked him to check the men who had been close to Jiang Qi recently, especially those little milk dog types.
One would always feel uneasy about a wife wanting to cheat.
He Cheng Ming had gone back to school and resumed cla.s.ses. The kids in cla.s.s two had missed him greatly.
The main reason was that the top student wasn’t around and no one could solve the difficult problems in all the subjects. It was as if all the teachers were not having a harmonious s.e.x life, showing resentment and scolding everyone all day.
“Ming Ge, you’re back!”
It was the cla.s.s two monitor. Besides He Cheng Ming, he was the best student in cla.s.s two. During this period of He Cheng Ming’s absence, he was so stressed that he was almost constipated and even felt like a third of his hair had fallen out.
“Finally, no need to drag out any more lessons!”
The science teacher loved to put up questions just before cla.s.s was dismissed. If someone was able to answer it, the cla.s.s would be dismissed. If not, the lesson would be extended. Previously, He Cheng Ming was around — everyone freeloaded off his light and had stable rest. Since He Cheng Ming had been absent for almost half a month, it had seemed like they were overstretched and their IQ wasn’t enough. Lessons were extended until they couldn’t think straight.
He Cheng Ming chuckled and looked like he was in a good mood. Pa.s.sing by Lin Jiang, he patted the back of the boy’s head while his eyes seemed to be saying: You’re so great now, knowing how to plead for mercy from Ji Liao.
Lin Jiang’s head shook and he looked up with a bitter expression on his face. He said worriedly, “Ming Ge, do you think there’s a problem with Li Si Ran?”
He had asked her yesterday. She was clearly from a vocational high school, so why lie to him that she was from A high school? Li Si Ran had explained that she was afraid he would look down on her, so she lied. It sounded reasonable but he just felt like something wasn’t right.
He Cheng Ming sat down and offered him a solution. “Aren’t you quite close to Meng Yao Yao? Ask her.”
With an IQ like Lin Jiang’s, he wouldn’t understand even after thinking about it for eight hundred years. Moreover, the behaviour of some girls couldn’t be inferred from common sense and only the same kind would understand them.
Lin Jiang slapped himself on the forehead feeling that this method was reliable.
He thought of inviting Meng Yao Yao to eat lunch at that shop outside of school that He Mu Sheng had invested in. But his pockets were empty now and he had no choice but to drag He Cheng Ming, this free meal ticket, along. He Cheng Ming was going, so of course, Ji Liao would too. Meng Yao Yao brought Xu Xiao Jing and it instantly became a table of five.
Lin Jiang was a little embarra.s.sed and roughly told the story, receiving strong feedback from the two girls.
“You said her family background isn’t good but she knew about Mi Ya ferry and even told you she wanted to go?” Meng Yao Yao felt that this point was the most suspicious.
“What’s Mi Ya ferry?” Xu Xiao Jing asked while biting on her chopsticks.
See, people who weren’t in the upper cla.s.s of society didn’t know what Mi Ya ferry was. She had only heard her dad mention that such a luxury ship was a paradise for young people.
“I feel that it’s worth investigating the point that she’s often on the phone with others. This is often a sign of cheating.”
“And on accepting your huge sum of money, she only said that she would return it but didn’t specify when. Isn’t this a typical green tea b.i.t.c.h?!”
“The place the two of you met also leaves much to be desired. That bar is quite messy right?”
Xu Xiao Jing and Meng Yao Yao carried on the conversation, peeling off Li Si Ran’s skin, making Lin Jiang shiver as he listened.
“Are there so many problems?” He hadn’t sensed anything before.
“Just call the friend who had the birthday celebration. She was a student applying for such a job and it would have surely left an impression.” Xu Xiao Jing said.
She was a good judge and was almost certain that Li Si Ran wasn’t a good person. But she couldn’t tell Lin Jiang directly — foolish straight men had to discover the truth themselves before they could learn their lesson.
Sigh, she really felt bad about that ten thousand yuan.
Lin Jiang went out to make a phone call. His mood was a little indescribable, half guilty, half fl.u.s.tered.
Guilty because of his sudden suspicion of Li Si Ran and fl.u.s.tered because he was afraid that the things Xu Xiao Jing had told Meng Yao Yao were true.
The other side quickly accepted the call and Lin Jiang only asked one thing, “Where did you find the people for your birthday?” His friend replied, “Newly recruited by the bar and female students were specially requested. They’re all very clean, don’t worry.” Lin Jiang’s voice rose abruptly. “What do you mean all very clean?”
His friend paused. “Never had any clients. They’re all new.” “Do you mean to say that they’re prost.i.tutes?”
His friend laughed. “Not really. Anyway, you don’t have to say it so harshly. As long as both parties are willing.”
Lin Jiang hummed, only feeling extremely disgusted and threw his phone into the middle of the street, smashing it into pieces.
He came back in anger and the four of them could see the result by looking at his expression. It became instantly quiet and everyone ate with their heads down.
Lin Jiang was normally cheerful and unexpectedly, he was quite scary when angry. He was like a small volcano, ready to explode at any time.
After the meal, they left separately.
He Cheng Ming didn’t interfere in his affairs but transferred a sum of money to him. Lin Jiang spent money recklessly and now, he had smashed his phone. He felt sad no matter how he looked at it.
He led Ji Liao back to school.
It was almost June. The weather was getting hotter and the sun more glaring. The two of them went to the library for self-study as usual.
Ji Liao opened his mouth to recite concepts and reasons. The pile of things he had to memorize for liberal arts was really hollowing out his brain.
He Cheng Ming held a book helping to correct him. If he recited something wrongly, he had to accept a punishment which was to lean over for a kiss.
Ji Liao felt that it was too difficult and his political foundation was extremely difficult to p.r.o.nounce. He had been stuck a few times and was forced to kiss him several times. The more they kiss, the more confused he was until He Cheng Ming laughed softly and teased him, “Baby, could it be intentional? Hmm?”
Intentional my foot!
Ji Liao glared at him and walked to the side to quietly review it again, smoothly memorizing it.
As expected, the other boy’s presence only served to affect his performance!
So, school bully He had been ordered not to speak and forbidden to disturb him.
He Cheng Ming nodded obediently and half slumped on the table looking at his wife, at his serious expression, his slightly open mouth and his burning eyes.
Gradually, his eyelids became heavy. He closed his eyes and began to take a nap.
It was very bright outside the window. When Ji Liao turned back, he saw that the boy was already asleep. So he took two steps forward and used his own shadow to block his face from the midday sun.
When it was almost time, Ji Liao walked back and saw the phone that the other boy had placed on the table light up showing that a text message had come in.
Only then did he realise that He Cheng Ming had used his photo as a lock screen. It was the one he had previously taken of himself in the cla.s.sroom. His heart felt a wave of warmth flow through it.
He secretly retreated two steps and turned on the camera function in his phone, also wanting to take a photo of the other boy to save. But as soon as he stepped away, his shadow followed and the brightness suddenly increased. He Cheng Ming frowned and opened his eyes in a daze.
Ji Liao quickly pressed the shutter b.u.t.ton and the other boy’s grumpy and languid appearance was captured on his phone.
He Cheng Ming laughed, raised his head and said to him, “Secretly taking photos of me?”
Ji Liao was a little shy at being caught red-handed but on second thought, they were in love. Why couldn’t he take photos?! So he openly took a few more photos, then walked back with satisfaction.
He Cheng Ming circled his waist and asked in a hoa.r.s.e voice, “Does it look good?”
“Not bad.” Ji Liao chose one to set as his lock screen, the corner of his lips quirking.
He Cheng Ming was amused by his arrogant appearance and buried his head in his stomach.
Ji Liao let out a “tut” sound so he wouldn’t cause trouble as they were in the library, then reminded him, “You received a message on your phone earlier.”
He Cheng Ming checked and saw that it was from the private detective he had commissioned before. Gao Sheng had been found.
