Chapter 23 – Shen Lang Worships Her
To not speak of the other parties of whom were dismal and saddened regarding Jin Mulan's marriage, Shen Lang too doubted whether he, the groom, would marry his bride tonight. After all, none paid attention to him all this time since Jin Zhong escorted him to his room except when the servant's delivered his meal, but even then, they did not speak to him.
The Count did not see him, the Countess did not visit him, his wife-to-be was nowhere in sight, and Jin Zhong too seemed wanted nothing to do with him but to forget his existence.
He'd begun to plan the notion in his head that the Count's Palace had found a better candidate, because, in a way, the whole men young men of Xuanwu City were a more suitable candidate for Jin Mulan. They'd go through lakes of fire and sleets of frozen water just for her.
In the evening, two female servants walked in holding several items of clothing.
"Master Shen, let's bathe and change your clothes for the big wedding!"
"Coughs…"
(O∆O) They'll see me naked?
To a certain extent, a husband married a wife who'll come to the man's home. Of course, it too can go the other way, but such sight was a rare occurrence. After the newly-wedded couple's wedding, it is the wife who'd ride in a royal sedan chair as she's led to her new home.
And on the extreme case, the newly-wedded husband is required to sit on the sedan chair as he is carried to his new home.
Such sight, it looked bad.
Xuanwu City was a conservative and a more traditional place. As a son-in-law riding the royal sedan chair to his new home, he'd need to wear a veil to cover his face as a wife would do. In the eyes of many, this trampled the dignity of men.
And such, there are many who'd rather remain a bachelor the rest of their life than to wed a family's daughter whose more superior than him.
At this time, Shen Lang sat in the royal sedan chair as he donned a red-colored clothing and a silver mask covering his face.
The royal sedan traveled from the Count's Palace to the temple to give offerings and pray for blessings for his upcoming marriage, then back to the Count's Palace for the upcoming marriage.
The Count's Palace was decorated silhouettes of lights and female servants looked n.o.ble-like.
There were not many guests, only the few powerful ones, but nevertheless, they ranged more than a hundred in numbers.
More than half of them was a relative of the Count while the remaining half were the local heroes of Xuanwu City, renowned scholars, military and court officials, and so forth.
When news of the Princess of Xuanwu City's marriage circulated throughout the city and its neighboring city, many guests not only in Xuanwu City but throughout Nujiang County wanted to attend such an esteemed wedding.
It'd be a grand wedding no doubt.
But… tonight's wedding was too hasty… to fast that not many of the esteemed men and women of Nujiang County were able to attend.
It was also one of the most arrogant wedding in the history of the Count's Palace.
Though the guests in the grand hall chatted amongst one another, their chat ceased in the end. Their eyes were glued towards the gate curious who is the man Jin Mulan had fallen for.
Jin Mulan is the princess of Xuanwu City. Marrying her is as sacred as the heavens. How good can it get? It was blissful heaven. Even carrying her would prove burdensome, but it'd also cause jealous amongst many that they'd feel someone had torn their guts apart and swirled it around inside their body.
Especially the young heroes who came. Their face looked blue as they looked on at the gates with their breath held.
Who are you?
Can you match with the G.o.ddess?
What qualifications do you have?
