Chapter 7
Himekishi to camping car
Domo domo~ Onion dayo~
So the usual few things before we start . One, I think I’ll put my rants up on a separate post, just with news and stuff if you’re interested . (If you’re reading this from the far future, don’t mind it, though . )
Two, I’m not on a computer and using a really weird compacted keyboard, so spelling and translation pace will be slow . I’ll try hitting once every other week, but until I get an actual computer, no promises .
*due to issues with WiFi and stuff, I couldn’t get a chapter out the previous weeks . Sorry for that!
Anyway, enjoy the chapter!
P . S . – When I put (???) after a quote, it means that the speaker is the girl, whose name is unknown .

The Princess Knight and Half Elves
The camping car was stopped in the middle of the road in the daytime .
Naoto had turned the driver’s seat 180 degrees towards the room, watching the events unfold .
Sofia stares ahead at the girl in front of her in the 6-mat room .
A charming girl, about the age of an elementary schooler, with squishy, pull-able cheeks .
She sat in seiza on the tatami mat with her fists on her knees . [1]
Seeing the girl, Naoto finally felt like he was in another world, because the girl’s ears were pointed sideways in a way that shouldn’t be humanly possible .
“That’s an elf, right?” (Naoto)
“It’s a half-elf . ” (Sofia)
Sofia answered immediately, so she must have known something only people from this world understand .
Since the girl wasn’t familiar to the j.a.panese Naoto, he was very interested, but it wasn’t something that could be seen on his face .
Sofia answered Naoto and then looked at the girl with a very angry face .
“Answer me . How did you get in here . ” (Sofia)
“……” (???)
“Answer . ” (Sofia)
With a strong tone, Sofia keeps questioning the girl .
Seeing the half-elf girl become scared, Naoto thought “You didn’t have to go that far . ”
“Hey Sofia, isn’t it fine?” (Naoto)
“Not at all!” (Sofia)
The knight says it while angry .
“Don’t forgive something so bad so easily, Naoto . ” (Sofia)
“You’re exaggerating, she only ate something from the refrigerator . There’s also a vacancy in the RV . ” (Naoto)
“ONLY ate?” (Sofia)
Sofia scolded Naoto more out of her anger towards the girl .
“The problem is that she ate the food!” (Sofia)
“Natto, right? You can’t eat it, Sofia, so it’s fine . ” (Naoto)
Naoto says that . The empty natto pack is shown as evidence on the kotatsu .
While Naoto and Sofia were away from the car, the girl broke in and ate natto out of the fridge .
Honestly, Naoto knew she ate something other than the natto – A little bit of the -Hagen Daaz-[2] ice cream, but it wasn’t enough to be angry about .
But, it wasn’t like that for Sofia .
“Naoto eats natto and likes it . ” (Sofia)
“Well…” (Naoto)
“If- If this happened, what should I feed the little one when all the natto disappears?” (Sofia)
Sofia says, pointing at the puppy . The puppy was sitting in the orange box, resting its head on the edge . Sofia almost smiled looking at it . She coughed and called back her anger .
“Ah, it’s not about me not being able to eat it myself . ” (Naoto)
“Obviously! I was thinking the puppy would like me if I gave natto to it!” (Sofia)
“No, the food will rot and stink by then . ” (Naoto)
“Isn’t it already a stinking food?!” (Sofia)
“…Point taken . ” (Naoto)
Naoto makes a bitter laugh because he can’t find words to respond with .
Sofia turns to the half-elf girl with her sustained anger .
“I know, I won’t ask your how you got in here . More importantly, your house . Tell me the town or city you live in . ” (Sofia)
“Home…?” (???)
The girl looked at Sofia with upturned eyes .
“Yes, let’s go to your house, and tell your parents to discipline you, at least for your stealing!” (Sofia)
Well, that’s only natural, thought Naoto .
It’s not a good thing, so he thought he might as well do as much as the parents .
Because she’s a cute girl, he thought it wouldn’t be positive for her future to leave her like this .
But Naoto just watched without opening his mouth . The voice he heard was very depressed .
“Mom and dad… Aren’t here . ” (???)
So she answered .
“Eh?” (Sofia)
“They went… somewhere . ” (???)
“Muh?” (Sofia)
For an instant, Sofia’s expression changes .
If that’s the case, then the girl was the victim – The food, being a half-elf, and having no parents .
[TL: I don’t even know how to translate this one . Sorry . 「数え役満だな、ハーフエルフドラがいくつ乗るのかにもよるけど」]
Naoto didn’t know the views of this world, but he thought that it would be bad if it was persecution .
He thought that a human with sympathy wouldn’t be blamed .
(Sofia would be able to . )
As he thought that, as expected, Sofia’s att.i.tude softened .
From her expression, he saw that she started to sympathize with the half-elf girl .
“You… your parents aren’t here . ” (Sofia)
“Mm, not at home . ” (???)
“I see . ” (Sofia)
For a while, it was silent .
Naoto forgave the girl, because he wasn’t angry from the beginning . Sofia seemed troubled, looking back and forth between the girl and the natto pack .
Naoto was convinced in that instant .
If it was her, she would totally fall . [3]
After a while, Sofia sighed while looking up, and then said .
“Well then… It can’t be helped . ” (Sofia)
“It’s fine?” (Naoto)
“Of course . ” (Sofia)
“Um… Will you forgive me…?” (???)
“Yeah . ” (Sofia)
“Thank you!” (???)
“By the way, what’s your name?” (Naoto)
“Mimi!” (??? -> Mimi)
“Mimi, huh . Mimi, where would you like to go?” (Naoto)
“Mm, to search for mom and dad . ” (Mimi)
“I see . ” (Naoto)
The poor girl – Was what he thought .
“Oneymuun, I think they said…” (Mimi)
“I see… -Eh?” (Naoto)
“-Eh?” (Sofia)
Naoto and Sofia said at the same time .
“Honeymoon…?” (Naoto)
“Mm . Dad and mom, they left me to go somewhere, to a place called oneymuun . So I chased after them . ” (Mimi)
“………”
Different from the depressed voice, a bright voice echoed through the RV .
A bright, cheerful voice .
…In some ways .
“……Let’s go together . ” (Sofia)
Sofia said that in a low voice, a voice that seemed to be repressing anger .
“That’s okay?” (Mimi)
“Yeah . ” (Sofia)
Sofia nodded with a scary face . Naoto pretended not to notice .
More importantly, it’s good she wasn’t an unlucky girl .
He saw lovey-lovey couples that would still go on a second honeymoon even if a child was born . As soon as the bank allowed it, he saw a girl whose face brightened along with Pa, and he felt brighter too .
[TL: Dude, I don’t even know what this is . If anyone can help with this, the original is 子供を産んだ後もラブラブで二度目のハネムーンにいく夫婦ははどうかと彼も思うが。同行の許しが出た途端、パアと表情が明るくなった少女をみて、彼も明るくなっていくのを感じたから ]
This girl is a mood maker . Naoto knew his colleagues from his company had some, and he just got the feeling from the girl .
It’s not just humans that sense the mood change, though .
The puppy woke up, came out of the orange box, and came over with a patter .
And then it stopped in front of Mimi, and sat in front of her .
“Woof!” (Dog)
“Uwaa, a cute puppy!” (Mimi)
“Right?!” (Sofia)
“Why are you excited, Sofia?” (Naoto)
“It’s really cute~” (Mimi)
Mimi pet the puppy, who wagged its tail in joy .
The puppy with the innocent girl, Naoto watched over this cheerful sight .
A gentle air fills the room .
-Or so he thought .
“Woof woof!”
“Ogo!”
The moment the girl cried, Sofia stood in surprise, and the mood in the room froze .
“Ogo?” (Naoto)
Naoto, who after settling that case sat drinking from a cup that had the character for “sushi” on it, stopped .
More importantly, Sofia had totally frozen .
Like she was a stone statue .
“Woof woof!”
“Ogogo!”
“Woof!”
“Ogo!”
The two played, and the puppy eventually rolled on its back, while Mimi pet it .
“I see, I see, puppy got picked up by this nii-chan too? I’m the same . ” (Mimi) [4]
“Hey . ” (Naoto)
Naoto called Mimi over, curious about something .
“What is it, nii-chan?” (Mimi)
“What was that just now?” (Naoto)
“What was what?” (Mimi)
“The ‘ogogo’ thing . ” (Naoto)
“It’s what my dad says though?” (Mimi)
Mimi answered as if it was obvious .
“…Dad?” (Naoto)
“Yes, my dad, and everyone around him, talks like this . ” (Mimi)
“Everyone? …Your dad and mom, what kind of people were they?” (Naoto)
“These type of people!” (Mimi)
The girl shouted in joy, and showed him her pendant . Inside the pendant, the images of two people(?) were engraved .
One of them, an orc, looked like a pig, while the other was an elf with long ears and in armor . [5]
In the pendant, the two were cuddling together .
It was like – They were a couple .
“An orc and… and elf, huh?” (Naoto)
Naoto asked just to confirm .
“Mm . Ah, everyone in the village says ‘ogooooo’ . ” (Mimi)
“Then that’s an orc village, huh? Wait, what do you mean?” (Naoto)
“Umm, what did they say… Beauty and the beast!” (Mimi)
The girl hit her hand with a pon .
“Oh, I see . ” (Naoto)
Naoto nodded .
“So basically, you’re half-elf, half-orc . ” (Naoto)
“Mm . Dad was the king of the village, and mom was the princess of some country . ” (Mimi)
“…An orc king and an elf princess-knight, but bilingual… Biracial, I guess . ” [6]
Naoto turned to Sofia .
“Is this type of thing okay?” (Naoto)
“……”
“Sofia?” (Naoto)
Naoto asked because he didn’t know the common sense of this world, but she was still frozen in place .
“…Was it that much of a shock?” (Naoto)
“Puppy, ogotu . ” (Mimi)
“Woof!” (Dog)
The puppy played with Mimi .
(TL: Okay, translator broke again . Apologies for bad translation . )
Sofia’s face while repressing tears and trying to find words, Naoto honestly thought it was cute .
To his ears, the child and animal’s cries didn’t have the same effect .
“U… Uuu…” (Sofia)
For the moment, Sofia managed to return to reality with a pale face .
“You okay? You don’t look well, you know . ” (Naoto)
“Sorry… I’m not okay… From a while ago, I couldn’t stand orcs, you could put it . Fighting Ancient Dragons was easy and yet…” (Sofia)
“Well, because you’re a princess knight, right?” (Naoto)
“As if that kind of thing would exist! My dislike of orcs has no relation to that . ” (Sofia)
“None, you say…” (Naoto)
Normally, Naoto would keep that in mind .
Even if he didn’t like it, he would get by .
In any case, orcs and princess knights, it would make sense if there was a relation there, or so he thought .
“Well, what do you want to do? Should we keep Mimi here?” (Naoto)
Hearing her name, Mimi looked at Sofia .
Just staring at the knight with a pure look .
Sofia couldn’t refuse after being stared at like that .
“Of- of course . I never go back on my promises . ” (Sofia)
In joy, Mimi hugged Sofia .
It was a child’s innocent display of love .
“Hawaa, she smells the same as mom…” (Mimi)
Being hugged, a faint smile hovered over Sofia’s lips .
“Woof!” (Dog)
“Ogo!” (Mimi)
“–O!” (Sofia)
Instantly, Sofia’s face went blue and her body stiffened .
From that day on, Sofia was harra.s.sed by Mimi’s “ogogo” every night .
Aaand that’s the chapter! This one was a pain to do, it was so long (at least for me), my translator broke midway, and, well, you know .
Since I’m feeling pretty out of it today, if you see anything wrong with the translation, please tell me- I’ll fix it as soon as I can .
Translator’s Notes:
[1] It’s a sitting posture in j.a.pan . Just look it up .
[2] I know it’s not how it’s spelled, but I wanted to keep the feel of the censored brand names in light novels and manga .
[3] I don’t know how to describe it in English, just because of the wording . He’s convinced that Sofia would definitely give up on her anger, I guess .
[4] Nii-chan in this case isn’t brother, but used to refer to strangers of young-middle age .
[5] I’m not kidding, it directly translates to “one looks like a pig”, at least from my limited vocabulary .
[6] The word, Bairitsu, means magnification, but I don’t even know how that would fit in there . So I a.s.sumed it was English and rolled with it . It was spelled in Kanji though, so if anyone has a better phrasing, please tell me .
