Inferno Tale 2 Her Determination

"You're just a waste of s.p.a.ce!" My 'dad' said to me, as he tossed me out the house. I fell on my back, missing the stairs. I felt my head hit the sidewalk as I held the back of my head in pain. I looked up at him with a stoic expression, deep down I was hurt. My 'dad' had been like this ever since mom pa.s.sed; he drinks and drinks until he pa.s.ses out or until he runs out of beer - in that case he goes out the next day and buys more.

"Go sell yourself off, you little s.h.i.t! Don't come back until you have my beer!" He shouted, and slammed the door to our house. I sighed and got up, he blames me for mom's death; blaming me for the car crash; and blames me for surviving while my mom didn't. I noticed my sleeve was up to my elbow and revealing cuts on my arm. I looked around; like always everyone pa.s.ses by me, not caring about me at all. I rolled my sleeve down and began making my way to work.

'Dad' got fired after he kept on showing to work late and drunk. No one else would take him because he was 'too irresponsible' to continue working there. So, he made me get a job. I'll admit it was hard going to school and going to work afterwards; but I kept it up.

Eventually, I told myself, I'll have enough money to move out. I'll have enough to rent an apartment. That was IF he didn't find out about the bank account I made for myself a few years back. I was up to $10-15k, if he found out about it - I have no doubt he'll take all the money out and use it for himself while kicking me out in the process. I called myself sick from school, so I had today put my plan to action. Luckily today was Friday, meaning I'd get my paycheck. After I stored my paycheck, I'd take out some money and get my stuff, then run away when he pa.s.sed out drunk and rent that apartment I've had my eyes set on.

Of course...that didn't go the way I wanted. I was stopped by a guy dressed up like someone from a gang.

"Woah, little lady. Where do you think you're going?" He said, rhetorically, as he grabbed my shoulder and pulled me back to him; while wrapping an arm around him.

"L-Let me go...I don't want any trouble..." I spoke up, the guy only snickered. "Of course, of course. You don't go looking for trouble and no trouble will find you. Well...it found you today." He said darkly and dragged me into an alleyway. More guys from his gang, presumably, came out of the shadows and encircled me. One of them stepped out from the circle, as the guy pushed me forward.

"Hey there little girl. You do remember what today is, right?" He asked. I swallowed down my fear and stared up at him. He didn't seem pleased with that as a response, and hit me to the ground with a punch.

"Are you deaf?! I asked you a question!" He growled at me. I held my cheek he punched, and looked back at him. Softly nodding, the guy smirked in response. "Atta girl. Tell me; where's our money?" He asked.

"I...I don't have it..." I responded. The guy frowned at me. "You what?" He asked slowly growing impatient with me. "I-I was on my way to work to get my paycheck." I responded, getting up to my feet. "Franchesca...you know we don't like to be kept waiting..." He spoke up, I softly growled when he used my full name - he was apart of my dad's gang; when 'dad' met mom, he dropped out and this guy became to new leader.

"I know...just let me get the money and I'll give it to you." I responded. "We all heard that story before." He sighed. "Give us the money. Now. And things won't get ugly." He said. I swallowed my fear again, and stood up straight. "I said I don't have it." I said seriously. The guy seemed a little surprised at my tone before scoffing.

"Little lady finally standing up for herself, huh? Good for you." The guy said, as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a switchblade. My eyes widened a little as he flipped the switchblade over. "Don't make this any difficult Franchesca. Give me the money, and the least you'll get is a bandaid for the cut on your face." He said threateningly. I mentally sighed, knowing exactly what would happen if continued standing up to him like this, but this was the day I could set my plan in motion. I was not going to let this plan go to waste. I wasn't going to let this guy ruin everything for me.

I was determined not to let him ruin everything.

"I said I don't have it! Now leave me alone!" I growled at him. The guy snickered as he glared at me. "Fine. Make my day." The guy said. He snapped and everyone else pulled out their weapons: metal pipes, baseball bats, switchblades, chains, bra.s.s knuckles. I didn't have a thing to defend myself with besides my backpack with my work clothes, my lunch, and my wallet with my ID and so on. Luckily, I was good at dodging. A guy at work offered to teach me some self-defense moves, since he was in a martial arts school for most of his childhood, and had spent days refining his skills

When one guy came at me from behind, swinging his metal pipe at me, I sidestepped to the left, dodging him. I sidestepped to my right again, dodging someone with bra.s.s knuckles trying to punch me. However, I back up into another guy behind me, who wrapped his chains around my neck and held me against him. A guy with a switchblade came at me, however, I stepped on the guy choking me's foot and tuck rolled to my left, letting the two collide into each other and fall to the ground.

I got up quickly, and jumped back from someone swinging his baseball bat at me. I quickly continued jumping back as he continued swinging at me. When there was a break in his offense, I slid between his legs, confusing him. I pushed him forward, and used my foot to kick his leg back, making him trip and fall forward. I turned around, and barely managed to dodge someone try to cut my cheek with his switchblade.

I kept dodging the guy's attacks with a switchblade. When I got the chance, I grabbed his arm and disarmed the switchblade away from him while pushing him away from me at the same time. I felt someone hit me with their bra.s.s knuckles on the back of my head, while another took that moment to use the pipe he had and hit me in my shoulder, which while I was stunned, knocked me to the side. Before I could get up, someone kicked me in the ribs while another ran up with bra.s.s knuckles and punched me repeatedly in the face. Eventually, everyone came up and continued punching, whacking, kicking, cutting and stabbing me. I could slowly feel my consciousness fade away before I heard one of the guys yell something like..."Back off~"...then I pa.s.sed out.

When I came too, I woke up, sitting up in pain and looked over to my right. I was stunned at what I saw, the gang members were lying on the floor dead, with mismatched weapons resting inside their bodies or laying beside them. I looked over to see a boy, maybe my age or older, choking one of the last members of the gang to death. I felt someone grab me and pull me up, wrapping their arm around my neck and held something against my head, I a.s.sumed was a gun. I was right when the boy focused his attention on us, and my 'dads' old partner shoved the gun against my head.

"D-Don't come any closer..." I felt him shiver in fear while he held me, "I'll blow her brains out. I swear to G.o.d!" He shouted as he shook me and pushed the barrel of his gun against my head again.

"Ah, so you do believe in G.o.d." The boy said, confusing me and my 'dads' old partner, "I'm sure mother will have a h.e.l.l of a time torturing you." I saw him give the guy behind me a cynical smirk, before 'dads' old partner screaming in pain and pushed me to my knees. I looked behind me to see the guy burn alive in a gust of blue flames. I was stunned, shocked, and disgusted as the smell of burning flesh filled the air. I barely managed to hold back some vomit, but I still gagged, as I slapped my hand to my mouth. When the guy had been burnt to a chiseled skeleton, and fell down - breaking to pieces or disintegrating to ash, I turned around; noticing the boy on his phone. It looked like he was texting someone. When he was finished, I spoke up.

"U-Uh...excuse me..." The boy shot me a stoic and cold glance, one that sent shivers down my spine. "W-What are you?" I asked, noticing my tone had came out fearful. After he stared me down, he finally spoke up to me.

"Shosuke. Prince of h.e.l.l." I looked at him in disbelief. For two reasons; 1. I had trouble actually believing what I was hearing. h.e.l.l was real!? "I'm a devil." Shosuke corrected. I could barely keep myself calm, so as a result of me internally panicking and bleeding out due to my new and reopened wounds...

I fainted.
