1410  Clovers

Arthur soon realized that Tiara had a point. His black flames seemed to disable sigils the moment they came in contact. He tried using it on a floating sigil, and it just crumbled. Arthur was heartbroken. "You mean I can't use the superpowers lottery tickets?" Arthur said in disappointment as he sighed. Tiara chuckled. "I thought you would be gloomier because of your worries about Diana," she said. "You are calmer than I thought, even though we should be rushing it." "I can sense that Diana is fine. If anything, I feel bad for whoever has to face her inside this spiritual realm. She has an abundance of spiritual energy that she has acc.u.mulated over one hundred fifty years." "One hundred fifty years?" Tiara asked with shock. "That sounds… thrilling and scary." "It is. That's how she landed the single spot in my heart. I have a thing for thrilling and scary beauties, and she was the perfect fit for the role." "How did you guys first meet?" Tiara asked with a smile. Arthur smiled back and began retelling their story. It was a thrilling one, and Tiara was silent in awe during their journey. Abyssal spirits appeared here and there, but Arthur took care of them with ease as they traveled toward the Green Mountain. It took them almost twelve hours of flying before they got to the base of the mountain, where Arthur's story finally ended. "…You guys are insane. Everything you have faced tried to split you apart, but somehow you found each other again," Tiara said after some stunned silence. "I heard bits of your story through Yuran, but never thought it was this epic." "You and Yuran are close?" Arthur asked with a teasing tone. The green figure seemed to shrink a little as it floated away in shyness. Arthur didn't say anything more as he turned toward the mountain. Green Mountain was not naturally green. It was covered entirely with an infinite number of green clovers. Arthur had never seen anything like this and expected it to be the effect of the spirit inhabiting the place. Each clover seemed to dance in the wind, singing its own song. "How are we supposed to find the spirit in a place this large?" Tiara asked as she rose higher in the air before coming back. Arthur waited. "There are tens of caves!" "Spirits are secluded creatures. They don't like other spirits interfering with their s.p.a.ce. A high-ranking spirit like the one we are looking for should be in the most isolated spot." "What is that?" "The summit, of course," Arthur said with a smile. "Can you take me there, Colin?" he asked the crab underneath him. It let out a soft voice of approval before beginning to fly higher. Tiara came down to sit next to Arthur, who raised an eyebrow. "What? I can't keep floating forever. It gets tiring after a while," Tiara explained as she patted the crab. "Thank you for having me, Colin." "Does your spiritual energy decrease the more you float?" Arthur asked with interest. Tiara raised a hand and showed a soft green glow that began dimming. "I don't have an infinite reserve like you do," she said with a sigh. "I'm sure that if you release all of your spiritual energy at once, the Spirits Realm would have a giant hole poked into it." "…or it would collapse," Arthur said with a smile. Tiara was speechless, having to decide if he was joking or bragging. The two spent their ascension up the mountain in peaceful silence. Colin, the crab that wanted to serve Arthur like the rest of the spirits did, also had its limits. It began growing slower the more it ascended through the air until Arthur asked it to rest. Then, he wanted to give it some spiritual energy. Colin refused. "Why?" Arthur asked with interest. The crab could not answer, but there seemed to be something that prevented the crab from letting Arthur feed it spiritual energy. In the end, they had to wait for Colin to recover before ascending again. The trip took another hour before they reached the summit. Arthur and Tiara jumped from the crab, which seemed reluctant to approach. The aura of a spirit warned the crab against approaching, and Colin had to leave them early. Arthur bid it farewell and thanked it for the help as he watched the crab descend from the mountain. Arthur turned toward the summit, which had a giant five-leaf clover on the top. Each of the five leaves was big enough to have a small room, and the stem was wide enough to be a corridor. At the base of the clover's stem was a wooden door. "Is that a house shaped like a clover?" asked Tiara with amazement. "I feel like I'm living a child's fantasy dream." "That's the Spirits Realm," Arthur said with a smile. "Let's go and knock." The door opened after the third knock to reveal a long wooden corridor with green tiles. Arthur and Tiara looked at each other before walking inside, and the door closed behind them. They walked for a minute or two before reaching a long hall. Waterfalls fell from each wall of the hall, all pouring toward a small pond underneath them. A central wooden walkway floated over the pond, not attached to anything, but as immobile as the mountain itself. "Come forth!" a high-pitched voice cried out. Arthur and Tiara walked over the green walkway as the waterfalls sprayed them with water imbued with spiritual energy. They reached the end of the hall, where a small clover acted as a chair for a smaller creature. "Welcome, First Seeker!" said the voice again, coming from the small creature. Its back looked like it belonged to a white squirrel with a long tail, but its head had four leaves sprouting out of it. The creature turned toward them to reveal a cute squirrel with long whiskers. "You honor me with this visit!" "…The honor is mine," Arthur said with a smile as he lowered himself to a knee, looking at the squirrel with interest. "Are you the wise spirit inhabiting this mountain?"
