Chapter 29 – Leaving Town (Start)

This year’s Briar forest was awfully lively. Even though it was already a bitterly cold season. Even if the snow within the forest was quite deep, that the townsfolk no longer rashly entered. Still, with the arrival of a group of Adventurers, the forest was once again recovered with bustling activities, just like the other seasons. As a result, Ricca town that was situated outside the forest, had once more in this winter, sparked with vitality.

On account of the Adventurers arriving, Rumont, the one the Tax Officer was constantly making things difficult for, had once again had a new opportunity to get rich. Relying on his healing spells becoming more proficient, his business too became increasingly better.

An amiable price as well as a reasonable Druid treatment. Way better when compared with the Priests at the Shrine; at the least, it wasn’t as uncomfortable.

However,even though Tax Officer Barcas didn’t dare make things difficult for Rumont as to offend the numerous Adventurers. He still made a big deal out of the taxes, demanding a third of the income from the very start. Burke actually understood the use of strong alcohol. Last time his members were injured, it was due to the use of strong liquor, that allowed the wounds to heal even faster. But, what was the use of needles and threads?

This world’s treatments remained at the use of divine spells to heal. The a.s.sistance of medicinal herbs was due to the results being effective. The surgical skills of Earth, naturally wouldn’t have been touched. The set of treatment methods back on Earth, was due to the circ.u.mstances of lacking divine spells. The people inside, wouldn’t have known about it. Neither would those people have comprehended it.

However, on account of having confidence in Rumont, Burke still moved quickly to prepare those items. In fact, these items, were available inside of Mort’s Inn; they spent some money to purchase, to which the Mort couple were naturally willing to.

This is also, for whatever reason that the townsfolk alienated Rumont, that the Mort couple continued to allow Rumont to live here.

Possessing empathy, as well as interests. On account of Rumont staying here, as a result, Adventurers were even more concentrated here, furthermore, on the legal supplying aspect, it was also selling exceptionally pleasantly.

Wiping away the sweat on his head, Rumont said: “okay, no alcohol, rest for 10 days, and it’ll be basically close over. “

“It’s succeeded? “ Burke viewed dumbly.

He was frightened as he currently recalled the movements of the muscles Rumont just deftly sewed. However, evidently seeing that the injured was breathing stably, Burke immediately grabbed Rumont’s hand, expressed his grat.i.tude repeatedly.

“Rumont, I’ve heard that you unexpectedly brought back to life a person that had his chest opened up by a monster? “ the news in the small town had always circulated lightning fast. Not even half a day’s work, practically everyone in town knew about Rumont; this Rank 1 Druid’s miraculous magic.

As for Mercenary Captain Howard, who eventually arrived at the inn, teased Rumont for a while before telling him an important information.

However, if he joined an organization like the Adventurer’s Guild, then it’d be completely different. This time, the treatment was considered reasonable and legitimate. The Tax Officer had no whatsoever excuse to levy a high tax against him. As for tomorrow, it was possible he would need to pay 10 percent in tax of the income.

Rumont thanked the Mercenary Captain Howard, who pa.s.sed onto him the location of the Adventurer’s Guild in a place not too far away from Ricca; as well as the information of Banner’s caravan needing to head towards that location.

When Rumont ran into Banner, he mentioned the need to follow along together towards the small city of Appleseed. Even though it was due to the Tax Officer Barcas that caused Banner and Rumont drifted apart a bit. However, Rumont’s recent abrupt displayal of his gifted treatments, allowed him still to think that it wasn’t necessary to allow each other’s relationship to be too strained. Even more so, Rumont wanted to go with them conveniently on the road, it also wasn’t a too awkward matter. Therefore, Banner considered it slightly, and unreservedly accepted.

The bustling days pa.s.sed over quickly as always. Quite soon, it was time for Banner’s caravan to set off.

Rumont had washed up first thing in the morning, eaten breakfast and awaited inside of Mort’s Inn.

“Rumont, please excuse me for coming late, there was too many goods. “ a good half of the day after, Merchant Banner currently appeared inside the inn, leading the fleet.

“So many goods? “ Even though he knew Banner’s business wasn’t limited, however, Rumont still didn’t expect it as he saw over 10 large carriages outside.

“Winter has arrived right? The clothes and foodstuffs stocked by the small city isn’t enough. We won’t be merely earning some money. “ Banner politely said, expressing with a bit of pride.

Rumont continued on with a few encouraging words. At once, the recent awkward and estranged kind of atmosphere, immediately cleared up between him and the traders; disappearing without a trace. Almost seeming as if nothing had ever taken place.

The weather today was great. Beautiful sunshine and winds. The merchandise of the caravans were pulled by a kind of animal similar to that of Earth’s animals of burdens. The carriages were quite s.p.a.cious, therefore, Rumont was quite fortunate to not have experienced the pains of walking on foot.

Sitting on the carriage in the open, Rumont let out a breathe, his emotions were utterly high. Not only because of the goal this time, it was also because it was ever since he arrived on this world, his first time in going to such a far place.

Anyone would also be curious. Rumont was no exception. He compellingly thought about what the outside world would be like.

The carriages carried on in a neither fast nor slow pace. Rumont chatted away the day with people of the caravan that he sat with and those he didn’t. These were extensively traveled people, although deficient in knowledge, yet, their experiences were vastly greater than anyone within the small town. They had been to many cities, and met many a people; he conversed with them all. Letting Rumont understand more or less the affairs outside. As far as he believed, this wasn’t something that could be found recorded; it definitely had a use in the future.

They spoke and laughed as they traveled, never tiring. A day’s worth of time had pa.s.sed. In the end, when the city gates and walls appeared in front, it wasn’t as magnificent when compared to the ones back on Earth, yet way more lofty when compared with Ricca town’s best constructions. Rumont knew, they had arrived.
