It was the place to be.
However, there were always some people who didn't think that way. There where some who believed that the company was no longer the same and that its values had been compromised.
One of these people was Qiao Jianhong.
Entering the Kang Corporations building with a stern face, the man brought with him a pressure that could be felt from a mile away. If anyone didn't know any better they would have thought that he was here to fight someone but, this wasn't completely wrong.
To the outside world, the Kang's and the Qiao's were pretty much one family. The two family elders were always together and their kids and grandkids seemed to get along but truly, the inner workings of the Kang family were always rocky and now, since the Qiao's technically formed part of the family they were included in the ba.n.a.lities.
Qiao Jianhong accompanied by Rong Yue Wan made their way to the front desk.
Looking around, Rong Yue Wan's eyes glistened. Even when she had dated Kang Jun she hadn't ever visited the corporation. This was like Kang Jun's second home but she knew he hated when others would interrupt his work.
Before coming here, she had tried to convince the elder to make an appointment but the man refused.
"Me? Make an appointment? Does Kang Jun find himself to be that Important? He will meet me, no matter if I have an appointment or not."
Walking up to an area in front of the elevators, where a couple of women sat. Qiao Jianhong looked down at them with sheer pressure.
Seeing that Elder Qiao had come, the woman felt her whole body stiffen, but at the same time, there was admiration in her eyes. Qiao Jianhong was like a legend. Seeing him up close was so overwhelming she almost fainted.
The woman opened her mouth to speak but no words came out.
She began to feel extremely embarra.s.sed but Qiao Jianhong was used to this. He didn't smile at the girl or try to make her feel better, instead, he just said,
"I'm here to see Kang Jun."
Hearing this, the woman swallowed and then nodded her head. She turned to look at the security guard who stood by the gates in front of the hallway where all the elevators were.
Gesturing to the area, the woman slightly shook.
Qian Jianhong headed to where the woman had gestured. The security let the man through with no complaints. He too knew the man.
Elder Qiao was a military legend and not only that, but he was also Kang Jun's technical in-law by his own brother's marriage. They didn't see the harm in sending him up.
But this was the greatest mistake of their careers…
Upstairs, when Elder Qiao had stepped out of the elevator Mr long who had been organizing Kang Jun's paperwork by order of importance lifted his head. He hadn't heard that Kang Jun was meeting someone today.
When he noticed that the man was Qiao Jianhong, Mr. Long looked at the man with utter confusion.
Without looking at Mr. Long, Qiao Jianhong made his way straight towards Kang Jun's office. But as soon as Mr. Long saw this he quickly ran to stop the man dead in his tracks.
"Move." Qiao Jianhong commanded
Mr. Long felt an immense pressure begin to press down on him but at the same time, he was angered by the way the man treated him.
Mr. Long had worked in the Kang Corporation, almost as long as Kang Jun had and the only person that had ever spoken to him so rudely and commandingly was Kang Jun but the man had hired him and previous to his hiring Kang Jun had promptly explained that he doesn't partic.i.p.ate in the "pleasantries" that others do. He just wanted a job well done and if his subordinates do this, they will get rewarded.
Along the years, Mr. Long had been rewarded with many different things and so he didn't mind Kang Jun's att.i.tude but it was different coming from Qiao Jianhong.
Both men had never met each other until today. So who was this old man to speak to him like this!
Mr. Long wanted to say something, but instead, his body shook. Qiao Jianhong glared at the spectacled man with utter disdain.
"Are you deaf?" The old man said as he approached.
As the man approached him, Mr. Long felt as if he would fall backward.
Despite Qiao Jianhong being old, he was still tall. In his glory days, he'd been more than 6 foot. While Mr. Long was a modest 5 foot 6inches. With the men in a face-off, the height difference was really apparent.
"I can't allow you to distract the President while at work. Please wait until he has the time to entertain you."
Mr. Long's voice did not shake. Actually, it was fairly befitting for the situation; polite yet commanding.
Hearing this, Elder Qiao began to fume. It wasn't Mr. Long's tone that bothered him but the words he spoke. Why did he have to wait? Did this man not know who he was?
Little did Elder Qiao know that Kang Jun rarely allowed anyone to visit him sporadically. Not even Elder Kang. Every single person that came to that floor had an appointment and it didn't matter to either Kang Jun or to Mr. Long who stepped through that door.
No appointment. No meeting.
That was their motto.
Suddenly, Elder Qiao felt a violent urge to strangle Mr. Long. Looking sharply at the tiny bespectacled man with a nervous demeanor, Elder Qiao didn't hide his disgust.
"Do you have any respect for your elders? Is everyone who hangs around that brat the same? Does he infect others with his manners."
Mr. Long didn't like the way Elder Qiao spoke to him. The man was nearly 50 and yet, right now, he was being spoken to like he was a teenager.
Feeling anger invade his senses, Mr. Long didn't speak. Instead, he tried to calm himself down.
"I'm sorry Elder Qiao, but rules are rules. Coming from the military, I hope you can understand."
Elder Qiao smiled coldly.
As soon as he saw this, Mr. Long had an intense urge to run away. He wished for someone to save him, and just as the thought appeared in his head, Kang Jun opened his office door.
Kang Jun looked at Elder Qiao as if he had been expecting him.
"Come in," Kang Jun said lazily.
