As she did this, Lu AnLing's mind drifted to Ning Jie. She was suppose to be looking for her but she couldn't leave a child to fend for themselves. It was wrong and for Lu AnLing it took precedent over finding Ning Jie… Though it was good that she hadn't been with Lin Li or else she would have been scolded.
Lu AnLing pushed the door so the little girl could enter.
As soon as the door was opened in front of her she ran in with a sprint. Watching the little girl's figure disappear, Lu AnLing felt her mouth tug.
It was like bringing her daughter to the bathroom. She would have experienced this, if only…
Lu AnLing's mind drifted.
Thinking of her child, Lu AnLing's mind brought her to the ballroom. Where she had seen a woman sitting next to Kang Jun. The tall woman was completely familiar to her. In fact, as soon as she'd seen her Lu AnLing had known who the woman was…
Rong Yue Wan.
This only meant that the nurse and Rong Yue Wan were one and the same. Thinking about this, Lu AnLing felt her heart begin to tug.
She had so many unanswered questions and right then there was someone who could give them to her but how would she get that information?
Sheng's text message came to mind.
What if Kang Jun knows something about her child…
Lu AnLing felt her head hurt.
Lu AnLing, for the first time since she entered, looked around the room. The inside was pretty interesting. It was a long hall that led to a wall. Once a person got to the wall they had the choice to go either left or right.
Since she didn't need to use the bathroom Lu AnLing waited by the wall. She leaned back against it to give her feet a break.
To calm herself down she listened to the sound of rushing water but then, something else came to her ear.
It was the sound of light sobs traveled to the girl's refined ear.
Lu AnLing walked quickly towards it and when she saw a girl in white dabbing a piece of cloth on her chest, with tears streaming down her face, Lu AnLing couldn't help but stare at her with widening eyes.
"Ning…" Lu AnLing a.n.a.lyzed Ning Jie's crying face before her eyes made their way down. Suddenly, they stopped at a large purple-red stain on her chest. "What happened?!"
"Some stupid b.i.t.c.hes happened!" Ning Jie's voice came out in a choke as the tears poured out of her eyes with no end.
Using her free hand she rubbed her face but the makeup remained unchanged. At event's like this, anything could happen and armed with that knowledge the makeup artists had used the best waterproof and smudge proof makeup they could find.
"Who?"Lu AnLing sighed.
"L-like it matters. I'm a smalltime artist and they're the precious diamonds of Halo Stars… even if I complained to Mo Yichen himself, he wouldn't do anything about it…"
Seeing the girl in such a weak state, Lu AnLing felt guilty. As her a.s.sistant wasn't it her job to protect the girl from the trouble that might befall her?
"And now I'm a mess! Just when I was finally feeling good; like today was going to be a good day this happens!" Ning Jie stopped dabbing her shirt and then turned to Lu AnLing. "Even you look better than I do!"
Despite how insulting that sounded, Lu AnLing didn't take it to heart. Instead, she reached her hand out and wiped the remaining tears at the corner of the girl's eyes.
"Calm down. Don't worry."
Ning Jie's eyes were filled with fury. She backed away from Lu AnLing who looked calm and elegant.
"Calm down?! I can't go back out there! Have you see my dress—" Ning Jie made a gesture as if telling Lu AnLing to examine her.
Seeing Ning Jie becoming more and more agitated, Lu AnLing sighed.
"Freaking out won't help you now. It'll just make it worse. Besides, you'll be able to go out there, with pride, in no time because …" Lu AnLing lifted her chin and smiled. "You'll be wearing my dress."
At first, Ning Jie was against the idea. She told Lu AnLing about how the dresses were specially chosen by Liang Ke and that her dress was supposed to be a pair with his.
Hearing this, Lu AnLing held back an eye roll.
Ning Jie did not have an eye for fashion. If she had she would have noticed that it wasn't her dress that was paired with Liang Ke but Lu AnLing's.
"Do you really want to go on stage with what your wearing? Or are you telling me you won't go on stage at all? Should I go tell Senior Brother Liang that he should find someone else to sing with?"
Hearing Lu AnLing's words, Ning Jie's face turned completely dark. She didn't want any of that. So, without another complaint, the girls switched dresses.
Once they were done, Lu AnLing helped Ning Jie fix her hair and wiped away the woman's remaining tears.
Ning Jie was back to being perfect.
Though as she looked at Ning Jie, Lu AnLing felt that the red dress didn't suit the woman as much as it had suited her!
It's true that since the dress itself was beautiful, Ning Jie was also naturally beautiful but In the red dress, Ning Jie wasn't as seductive and charismatic as Lu AnLing had seemed.
The thought made Lu AnLing feel kind of good, but feeling guilt rise up from her belly she whipped the thought out of her mind.
Ning Jie: "If you don't want to come back inside the ballroom that's fine. I'll tell Hong Xu you're going home but to pay you for as many hours as Lin Li." Ning Jie's eyes swooped over Lu AnLing's appearance and slightly sneered. "Frankly, I think it's best if you go home. You don't have to worry about anything. "
Feeling slightly insulted, Lu AnLing agreed to those terms.
Hearing her acceptance, Ning Jie smiled before putting her earphones in her ears and then she walked out the door, without a care, leaving Lu AnLing staring at herself in the mirror.
Long after Ning Jie had left, Lu AnLing stayed inside the bathroom for a while to see if she could removed the wine stain.
The white dress was pretty and it was a shame that it had been ruined. Thinking about how much it must have cost, the girl's face paled.
In the mirror, Lu AnLing looked at herself. Despite her complexion being slightly darker than Ning Jie and her chest being bigger, she didn't look bad in the white dress.
Actually, because of the low cut nature of the dress and the fact that Lu AnLing's b.r.e.a.s.t.s were much bigger than Ning Jie's, it instead exuded not only purity, but she also looked like the fox spirits from her father's mythology books.
She looked like she could seduce any man she wanted.
Her fathers voice drifted to her ears.
"… My little siren… seduction is not something you should practice. You should stay pure… Concentrate on school!… That's what really matters."
They were only bits and pieces of a great many conversations but they were enough to stir her. Hearing those words, Lu AnLing stopped breathing.
Not wanting to remember anything else, Lu AnLing shook her head and made her way outside. She had planned on waiting for the little girl when she'd first arrived but she was sure that the girl had left while she and Ning Jie were changing.
Outside, Lu AnLing was glad that no one was there. Walking around with a stain was embarra.s.sing enough but because of where it was it made her even more uncomfortable.
Looking down both sides of the hallway Lu AnLing sighed and the began to walk, but before she could get too far she heard a soft voice say,
"Auntie!"
Lu AnLing turned to look at the little girl.
For a long time now, the little girl had waited for Lu AnLing to get out so she could thank her. At first, she had waited inside but seeing how Lu AnLing had been dealing with the crying Ning Jie she decided to give the two some privacy.
"Thank you very much." The little girl's face was blank but her emotions could be felt from her bright eyes.
"You're welcome…" Lu AnLing said awkwardly covering her chest with her arm.
The two girls stood there in awkwardness for a small bit before Lu AnLing opened her mouth.
"Do you want me to bring you back to the ballroom?"
Truthfully Lu AnLing didn't want to go back there but she a.s.sumed that it was why the girl wasn't making any effort to leave. For a second, the little girl looked at Lu AnLing, but didn't answer.
"I—"
"Kang Mei Xue?"
