The place was a complete mess! So she began to pick some things up and put them into her opened suitcase. Despite now, permanently living in the hotel, she still liked to keep her things in her suitcase.
As she continued to move things around, her foot hit something hard. Lu AnLing looked down to the small box on the floor. Immediately, her face went blank and then a slight darkness came over her.
"What's this?" Kang Mingyu said, pointing at the box.
"Ah… just a box."
Kang Mingyu gave her a face as if to say 'duh'. At first, Lu AnLing hadn't planned on saying anything, but seeing how cute the boy's face was, she thought that there was no real harm in telling him.
"It's a box of memories."
Kang Mingyu's face scrunched up. "Memories? How can you keep memories in a box?"
Hearing his honest reply, Lu AnLing couldn't help but laugh.
"Rather than keeping the memories in a box, it's more like you put random things in it that can be used to remember certain situations. Like…" Lu AnLing bent down and rummaged through the box. There were many random things in it including, a dried up flower, a turned over picture, and a letter... but the thing Lu AnLing decided to pull out was a book. It was the French edition of The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. "This!"
The girl lifted the book up into the air.
"This… It was the first thing my father ever bought me…" she began to flip through the worn out pages lovingly.
Gazing at the book, Kang Mingyu couldn't read it, because it was written in any language he had never learned but he didn't ask any questions. He just stared at the book as if it was a precious treasure.
If it was important to his auntie, it was important to him.
As she read a couple of words off the pages, Lu AnLing couldn't help but remember her father…
Lu AnLing's father was a strange man. He was a quirky literature and music teacher who loved his job. He loved it so much that he would often bring his work home with him and teach his daughter many songs and read her many stories.
After teaching one, he would then end his lesson by saying,
"What do you think?" or "Tell me how this made you feel."
Every time Lu AnLing would have to answer or else they wouldn't be able to move on to the next song or book.
The Little Prince, on the other hand, was a book that she had found all by herself. One day, when she had visited the library, he had found the book just laying on the table and began to read it. Instantly, she'd fallen in love with it and when she'd come home that night, she had begged her father to buy it for her. But the man was strict when it came to spending money.
To him, food and clothing were necessary things to buy, but things of pleasure such are books were useless.
She always found that strange.
"What does it feel like?" Kang Mingyu's voice broke through her daze.
Lu AnLing c.o.c.ked her head and asked, "What does what feel like?"
There was a slight pause.
"To have a dad?"
Hearing that from the little boy's mouth her heart clenched. She had completely forgotten that the boy's father, Kang Jun's brother, had pa.s.sed away.
An awkwardness spread through the room.
"Uhh… I can't say that it's the same for everyone but for me, it was like having someone who would protect me and whom I could rely on."
There was not much Lu AnLing could say. So she only told him the good stuff… but truly, her relationship with her father was like the weather. One day it could be sunny, and the next there could be a storm. He was a great man who protected her, provided for her and loved her but there were many times where she thought her father was horrible. She would never admit to that though. Certainly not in front of a child who had never gotten to meet his own father.
"Anyway, enough about that stuff." Lu AnLing closed the box and slid it under the bed. "How about we play a game? Any game you want, okay? Or do you want to eat the deserts first?"
Kang Mingyu nodded his head. He went to grab the deserts and then, as he began to eat them, he thought of something fun to play.
Lu AnLing, on the other hand, was drifting deep into thought when her phone suddenly began to buzz. She walked over to where it was charging, wondering if it was Kang Jun telling her that he was coming back early but when she picked up her phone, her face darkened and then she sighed.
Seeing her expression, Kang Mingyu curiously approached her. He looked up at the girl who held her phone, and then squinted so he could catch a glimpse. When his eyes finally adjusted Kang Mingyu saw two message.

Kang Jun sat at the table with a bunch of business partners inside the Hotel Helios lounge. The place had changed since he'd last seen it but he didn't take much notice.
"Really Kang Jun, you should get married. You're already 34 years old." an old man chimed.
"Yes. You should marry! My daughter is of age… Would you like to meet her?"
"If you don't like his daughter, how about mine? You two went to school together."
Kang Jun frowned listening as the old men spoke. He was wasting his time here. He wanted to go back upstairs. "Did my parents send you here to say that?"
One man laughed, "Of course not."
"My grandfather?"
"No. None sent us were sent here. We just came to discuss business." another man spoke for the group and the rest began to nod.
Seeing this, Kang Jun sighed.
"Then it's best not to stray from the topic at hand."
Most men were awkward around Kang Jun but the ones who weren't were people who were close to the Kang family. It's not that they weren't afraid of Kang Jun, some of them were, but they understood that as long as they didn't offend him too much he wouldn't act.
He's been quiet for many years anyway.
Another round of drinks pa.s.sed at the table. Kang Jun had had enough to drink but out of courtesy, he couldn't refuse.
It was nearly 3 am when his business meeting had ended and Kang Jun's head was pounding. He didn't feel that he had drunk that much but still… He felt so horrible.
As he walked towards his room, his body felt like collapsing. Kang Jun tried his hardest to keep his composure but his whole body felt heavy. He felt that if he broke his concentration for even a second he would faint.
Heat grew at the pit of his stomach, making him want to gag.
When he entered the room, it was dark. His mind didn't question it despite Lu AnLing telling him that she would stay until he came back.
As he staggered, Kang Jun made his way to his bed. When he finally lied down in it, he didn't feel any better. Actually, he began to feel slightly worse.
Kang Jun began to toss and turn, feeling his whole body begin to sweat. When he turned to his side, he finally began to feel a bit of solace but once he stretched his hand out, he felt a warmth at his fingertips.
Reaching for it, he found the source of the warmth to be soft and slightly… squishy?
"Mmmm…" a sweet voice moaned causing Kang Jun's eyes to instantly fly open.
He pushed himself up from the bed to gaze at the person lying beside him.
It was Lu AnLing.
The girl was laying on the bed defencelessly in a deep slumber. Her hair and clothing slightly a mess; looking as if she'd been in a fight with her belly slightly exposed.
The way she looked made Kang Jun's body heat up.
Then, when he gazed at his hand that was gripping Lu AnLing's bare waist, he felt his heart skip a beat.
In shock, he backed away quickly, almost falling off the bed.
Why was she in his bed?
Kang Jun shook his head hard, trying to see if his drunken state was playing tricks on him but it was not.
Lu AnLing had actually been laying on his bed. She'd been there since she'd put Kang Mingyu to sleep at 10 pm. She had first planned on sleeping with Kang Mingyu but if she'd done that because the boy was a light sleeper, there would be no way she would be allowed to leave until morning.
So, instead, she slept on Kang Jun's bed, eagerly awaiting the man's arrival.
She doubted that he would have minded anyway.
For a long time, she was on her phone but at some point, her eyes had begun to feel heavy and she just drifted off to sleep. What she had expected to happen was for him to come back, wake her up and then they would just part ways.
How could she have known that the man would come back drunk and crawl into bed with her instead?
Still asleep, Lu AnLing turned over to Kang Jun and let out a long sigh. Seeing her lips part slightly and her round b.r.e.a.s.t.s almost spill out of her shirt because of the position she was in, Kang Jun's heart almost jumped out of his chest.
He couldn't help but stare at her and get aroused.
Kan Jun contemplated whether to wake the girl up or not. Though instead, he opted to lie down beside her for a second. The man looked at the girl's beautiful oval face, her long eyelashes, her cute small nose, and her beautiful curved lips.
He examined her every feature before he reached out to touch her. He ran his thumb on her pouty lips, feeling her hot breath.
Some time pa.s.sed, and as if something had broken inside him, Kang Jun approached the girl and put his lips upon hers.
He began to nibble at them l.u.s.tfully.
