From afar, a woman wearing a long dress watched the table.
The woman, who sat on a table with a couple of socialites, had been watching the two for a while. Actually, she had been watching ever since Kang Jun and Lu AnLing had sat down.
Seeing the way Lu AnLing leaned forward in her pretty white dress, exposing her cleavage to Kang Jun, made the woman in the red dress clench her teeth as her face darkened.
Looking at her friends for a moment, she smiled sweetly and said politely, "I just saw someone I know, I'll go greet them and come right back. Please excuse me."
The girls acknowledged the woman but they didn't say much about it.
As the woman left, they continued to converse amongst each other. Their topic of choice revolved around celebrities and marriage, but today was a special day, In fact, that day, they had received some peculiar news involving Kang Jun.
"They apparently shortened the list of candidates..." One girl whispered.
"Haha well you can't be just anyone and marry into the Kang family." Another said with a shrug.
All round the table, the girls voiced their opinions about the matter.
"Yeah, but is it even worth it? I heard so many bad rumors about Kang Jun... and not just about his looks but apparently, he has a horrible personality too."
To this statement, another girl shrugged. "Who cares... with his riches, he can look like and monster and treat me like c.r.a.p but at least I'll be living luxuriously."
The girls exploded in laughter.
Hearing their nonsense, another girl rolled her eyes and then said, "If you want to know anything about Kang Jun, why don't we ask the expert." Then the girl turned to look at a slim woman with a pixie cut wearing a loose jumpsuit who was making her way to the table.
"Speak of the devil!" The girl said before she waved to the other. "Feng Yue, hurry and come here."
Walking over quickly, Feng Yue looked around the table. She frowned and then pointed at the seat where the woman in the red dress had been sitting.
"Where did that girl go?" Feng Yue asked.
"She went to say hi to a friend." A girl pointed towards a table in the distance. "But anyway, who cares about that, tell us about Kang Jun."
Feng Yue ignored her friends for a second and looked for the woman in the red dress. She couldn't find her for a moment but then, she spotted a familiar face. All of a sudden, Feng Yue's face turned pale. She couldn't believe her eyes, but there was no way she wouldn't recognized Kang Jun in a heartbeat. Though what truly made her heart sink, was when she suddenly saw the woman in the red dress approach the man with her head held height; like a woman on a mission.
Feng Yue groaned.
Believing that a disaster was about to befall the group, she ran over to them.
Meanwhile, the woman with the red dress walked with her back erect towards Kang Jun and Lu AnLing.
The dress she wore plunged at her neck revealing a good amount of her small but perky b.r.e.a.s.t.s. Several men in the room turned to look at the beauty, their mouths slightly gaped open. It didn't matter if they had dates or not. They continued to look with no shame.
Kang Jun, on the other hand, didn't look at the woman at all. He didn't even notice that someone was walking towards them. His whole attention was on Lu AnLing and so, he just continued to declaw a lobster and place it into Lu AnLing's plate.
Seeing this, the woman in red flared her nostrils at Lu AnLing.
At first, Lu AnLing, was only concentrated on Kang Jun and his romantic gestures but noticing the looks of several men, Lu AnLing was alert. She didn't have the intentional blindness Kang Jun had, so, as soon as she'd seen the bright red figure approach them, she couldn't help but turn and stare.
Lu AnLing hoped that the woman would not stop at their table but she had a feeling that things weren't going to go her way.
Seeing that Lu AnLing was distracted, Kang Jun turned to the side. When he saw the woman, his expression didn't change at all. To him, the woman was just like a table or a chair; completely unimportant to him.
The woman stopped at the table and looked at Kang Jun, purposely ignoring Lu AnLing.
"Kang Jun… what are you doing here?" The woman said in a low voice full of familiarity.
Kang Jun didn't answer her. Wasn't it obvious what he was doing there? He was having a meal with his girl.
The woman didn't mind that Kang Jun didn't answer her. "I thought you hated going out to dinner?"
AnLing wanted to ask who she was and why she acted as if she knew everything about the man, but instead, Lu AnLing opted to be quiet. This was the first person that had ever approached Kang Jun so amicably, after all. Most people still held some sort of self-restraint.
Lu AnLing wanted to see what this situation was going to amount to.
Understanding that Kang Jun had no intention of answering her, she turned to Lu AnLing who gave the girls a 'and you are?' look.
Seeing this, the girl smirked and said,
"I'm his ex."
Ex-girlfriend?
Lu AnLing's face twisted slightly.
Kang Jun, who was perfectly satisfied with just ignoring the woman, pinched the s.p.a.ce between his eyebrows and sighed.
Suddenly Feng Yue arrived at the table and she pulled the woman in the red dress back.
"Ah Jun, I'm so sorry... this girl is..."
Kang Jun stopped her with the wave of his hand. "It's fine."
Lu AnLing gave Kang Jun a confused expression. To her, it was not fine, she didn't understand what was going on but she wanted to. Using her eyes to communicate with the man, Lu AnLing backed Kang Jun into a wall.
The man knew it was time to explain.
Kang Jun pointed to each girl and said, "This is Feng Yue and that is her younger sister, Feng Yan. My parent had once arranged for me to marry Feng Yue but I broke off the engagement due to personal matters. So, Feng Yan is my ex almost sister-in-law."
Kang Jun explained it simply. He didn't want Lu AnLing to think bad of him but she didn't. It was quite the opposite actually.
For some reason, AnLing thought Kang Jun would be the type of CEO that wouldn't have much time for dating if he even wanted to date, to begin with.
Realizing that the man had a past, her face changed as if she had just realized something new, but she wasn't angered or annoyed by it. There was a strange sort of tranquility that appeared on her face.
This Information made Kang Jun feel more human but rather than that, it made Lu AnLing feel less guilty that she had dated someone before they had met. Sure, almost nothing Kang Jun had done in the past could compare to her bearing the children of a stranger but still...
"Is this a blind date?" Feng Yan asked a tinge of jealousy hanging on your tongue.
Kang Jun shot her a glare.
Catching that look, Feng Yue pulled her sister back. "It's none of our business."
Feng Yan turned to her sister with a glare and then she pulled her arm out of the girl's grip, but she didn't speak anymore.
Feng Yue turned to Kang Jun and said, "Forgive her,"
