Once she entered the room, she thought of calling or, at least, sending a text to Kang Jun but she felt as if he was probably sleeping so she decided against it. However, to her surprise, he called her instead.
They had a little bit of small talk before the man brought up what he truly wanted to say to her.
"I'll make sure Mr. Long will arranged a DNA test between you and Mingyu… but also one between you and Mei Xue."
When Lu AnLing heard Kang Mei Xue's name she unconsciously c.o.c.ked her head. Lu AnLing had not thought about Kang Mei Xue being her child, but it was true that it was a possibility. Sure, the age was a bit wrong but Kang Mei Xue, by what Kang Jun had told her, was barely a year older than Kang Mingyu. At least that was according to what he had been told.
Though, to Lu AnLing, rather than resembling herself, Kang Mei Xue reminded her a lot of Kang Jun. Mostly when it came to how they reacted to other people. She had only met Kang Mei Xue once but Lu AnLing noticed how calm and obedient the girl was. Because of this, a cold aura seemed to emanate from the girl.
Lu AnLing: "Oh okay. When will this be taking place?"
Kang Jun: "Soon hopefully."
"Mr. Kang…" Lu AnLing almost whispered.
Kang Jun: "Yes?"
Hearing how softly his voice kissed her ear from the other end of the line, Lu AnLing's heart began to shake. She was so happy right now. This morning Kang Mingyu had told her he loved her, Her best friend was back in the country, Rong Xin was surprisingly calming for Lu AnLing to be around despite being a bit of a stick in the mud and she had Kang Jun by her side.
Lu AnLing was so thankful for what she had in her life. But there was still a shadow over her life. More than one at that…
One of them was her child's disappearance but all in all, with Kang Jun helping her out, she was sure she would find her child sooner rather than later, but the second shadow involved her father and it was one that Lu AnLing couldn't remove because the man was dead, and no amount of wishing or searching would bring the man back to her side.
Lu AnLing felt herself choke up.
"Thank you very much." She whispered.
Hearing her voice, Kang Jun's heart also hurt but his voice was much better at hiding it. "You don't have to thank me. I'm your husband. I'll always be by your side"
After he said that, no one spoke for a moment until he said, "Tomorrow, after work, I'll come to pick you up—"
Kang Jun had more he wanted to say. He wanted to tell her that he loved her, that he missed her and that he wanted to rush to her side right at that moment but he didn't say a word.
Not hearing the man for a while, Lu AnLing inquired if he was still there. Once he answered, Lu AnLing said,
"Goodnight. See you tomorrow Mr. Kang."
Kang Jun: "Goodnight Miss Lu."
And with that, Lu AnLing hung up and then went straight to bed.
The next morning when she woke up, Lu AnLing stretched her arms wide feeling the cold edges of the bed.
As she laid there quietly, her eyes partially closed, she was reminded of her first time with Kang Jun so she awoke feeling her body warm and her panties moisten. Feeling such a familiar sensation Lu AnLing wanted to punch herself in the gut. She didn't imagine she would have ended up being such a h.o.r.n.y woman but appearances could be deceiving.
Quickly, before she began to fill her mind with the images of Kang Jun's naked body, Lu AnLing went to take a cold shower. Once she was done. She went to wake Sheng up.
Once completely awake, Sheng accompanied Lu AnLing to the lounge. A part of her was happy to spend time with him but at the same time, she didn't feel too comfortable because of what Yang Yize had said yesterday.
What if Kang Jun saw Sheng and her together... Would he feel as if she's being unfaithful?
She hoped not, but in the end, she decided to allow Sheng to accompany her anyways. Lu AnLing had to trust that Kang Jun would trust her and trust that if something bothered him he would come to talk to her first. Kang Jun wasn't Yang Yize, and he had told her he only wanted to marry once, so she knew that he would do anything within his power to make sure that their relationship didn't get destroyed by something as stupid as a misunderstanding.
Maybe if she was still dating Yang Yize she should have been feeling more unnerved, but Lu AnLing trusted that before jumping to conclusions, Kang Jun would speak to her. No matter how intimate Sheng and she seemed, he would want to get confirmation from Lu AnLing's own lips.
Thinking about it Lu AnLing bit her lip. At her side, Sheng had been staring at her. It was obvious to tell that something was bothering the girl but Sheng didn't try to bring it up, instead, he changed the subject.
"You actually work here?" Sheng gave a strange face.
To this, Lu AnLing frowned.
"Is that a problem?"
"Of course it's a problem," Sheng put his hand on Lu AnLing's shoulders and then he shook her a bit. "Bro! You're wasting your talents."
Lu AnLing frowned and then she glared at the man before slapping his hands, though, Sheng didn't let go.
"Sis, are you serious? This again. Didn't we agree that if you got a contract with Halo Stars then I'd also debut? Rather than wasting your time and energy judging me, why don't you get to work!"
Once he heard her words, Sheng leg go of Lu AnLing and then he frowned as he crossed his arms over his chest. "I'm just telling you the truth. Your voice is wasted on these people! Most of the people that come here are probably deaf old men, business people having drinks and the occasional socialite. You know, the kind of people who like to hear themselves talk rather than hear another sing!"
Lu AnLing lifted her finger to shut Sheng up for a second. "Hey. Don't insult bars and lounges. The people here do listen to my voice."
"Oh, yea? Like who? Give me an example."
"Hmmm," Lu AnLing stopped and thought for a second. It was true that the people here mostly listened to themselves speak but there were moments that people had genuinely come to listen to her but for some reason, when thinking about it, not one moment came to mind. But then, when she gazed inside the room, she saw a familiar face.
Lu AnLing pulled Sheng aside slightly. "You see that old man over there?"
Sheng turned to look where Lu AnLing had gestured. There he saw an old man who held a cane between his hands.
Sheng raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah? What about him?"
"On my first week on the job he visited me for a week. He probably liked my voice."
Lu AnLing's voice held some pride within it but when he heard what she had to say, Sheng's face twisted considerably in fear.
Sheng: "You poor naive child. He probably isn't here for your voice but for your body! Some creepy old man is leering at you and you're proud of this? Honey, now I'm 100 percent sure you should change jobs."
Lu AnLing rolled her eyes.
"Are you telling me that as a celebrity I won't have old men leering at me? Because if that's what you're saying then you're mistaken. In the end, it just depends on which situation I'm more comfortable with being leered at…"
Sheng opened his mouth as if to say something but he couldn't find a good counterargument for her logic.
Lu AnLing: "Either way, as long as no one touches me, I could care less that they watch."
Hearing this, Sheng didn't know whether he wanted to laugh or cry but instead he just left Lu AnLing to her own devices. Once he left the hotel, the boy took out his phone and called someone nervously.
"Mom? Hi… yeah. I'm back. Mmm… yeah. I'm fine. I ate, yes. Come home? No. Not today… Um, well, actually. Could you do me a favor?… No! I'm not in trouble. What is it then? Oh, well, I want to enter the entertainment industry... Could you help me out?"
