Kang Jun had spent a whole week dealing with the problems facing Kang Corporation and, with a little help from certain key people, he had been able to fully recover the losses of the projects that had fallen through.
When he had first received his grandfather's call, Kang Jun didn't want to go but when he learned that an emergency family meeting had been called, he had no right to refuse. So, he quickly drove to his grandfather's house, not even bothering to change.
Once he arrived he noticed a medley of cars in the driveway. He could recognize every single one of them.
They belonged to his parents and his brothers…
Kang Jun sighed. He looked away from the cars and turned to look at his phone.
Just when he had begun driving to the Kang main house, his phone had buzzed but he refused to check it as he drove. Kang Jun knew he drove recklessly but he wasn't stupid enough to distract himself.
Unlocking his phone, he saw a message from Chong Feng (Doctor Chong) and Lu AnLing.
Naturally, he checked Lu AnLing's first.
AnLing: [Remember to eat.]
Lu AnLing had nagged.
The whole week they had spent together, Lu AnLing had realized that Kang Jun barely ate when it was dinner time. Then, when she had also learned that the man didn't eat breakfast nor lunch while he was at work, she had gotten horribly annoying. From that point on she would remind him to get some food.
Kang Jun: [I will. I'm at my grandfather's home. I'll have no choice but to eat.]
Lu AnLing: [Good. When you see Mingyu, could you ask him if he wants to have dinner sometime soon.]
Kang Jun felt as if the girl was going to write something along the lines of 'I miss him' but she didn't. Though that was unimportant because just by the fact that she had asked to have dinner with the boy meant that she missed him.
Kang Jun: [Pick a date and we'll both be free.]
AnLing: [Both? You're coming too.]
Kang Jun wanted to laugh at her message. She was teasing him. He had wanted to go on a date-date with the girl, but AnLing wasn't having it. But now she wanted to have one with Kang Mingyu? Kang Jun wouldn't have that.
Kang Jun: [Why not? You don't like my presence?]
Lu AnLing didn't answer. Kang Jun could already imagine her expression.
Seeing as the girl might not reply for a while, Kang Jun checked the messages by Chong Feng. The man had sent him a bunch of messages but since Kang Mei Xue and Kang Mingyu were most likely in the house, he knew it had nothing to do with the children.
Kang Jun was in no rush to check his messages.
Though when he did, Kang Jun's eyes grew wide.
He saw Lu AnLing in a beautiful white cheongsam. The fabric, as it flowed down her body, tightened at her b.r.e.a.s.t.s and waist, framing her body beautifully. Her makeup was light and her best features popped out. She was beautiful and the dress almost looked like a wedding dress in the man's eyes.
Kang Jun's heart skipped a beat, but then, he froze.
Why was Chong Feng with Lu AnLing?
Kang Jun didn't ask. He already knew where the girl was, and Chong Feng's photo just meant that now Kang Jun knew where he was also.
Why was Chong Feng at Lu AnLing's grandmother's birthday party?
Kang Jun found this inconsequential so he didn't ask.
The man felt his whole body warm but then, Kang Jun felt something pull on his heart. He began to feel slightly jealous of Chong Feng.
Kang loved texting Lu AnLing, but he wanted to hear her voice, and see her in from of his eyes. He wanted to fill himself with her sweet scent.
He had been by her side for one whole week but it wasn't enough. Examining his thoughts, Kang Jun wondered if the girl had begun to miss his presence as he missed hers or if she truly didn't realize his effect on her.
Slowly, Kang Jun got out of the car and then walked towards the house. Once he was close his phone suddenly began to ring.
Kang Jun's brow furrowed as he grabbed his phone from his pocket.
No one would day to call him this late.
There were only two possibilities; it was either a family member or it was AnLing.
Bringing his phone to his face, he began to frown. It was an unknown number. Kang Jun pinched the s.p.a.ce between his eyebrows before he picked it up.
"Mmm."
An annoyingly loud voice came from the other end. "Yo, big bro, you heading to grandfathers place?"
The voice belonged to his youngest brother; Kang Liang.
"Already there." Kang Jun said with a sigh.
Kang Jun was really annoyed that the boy had gone to the lengths of getting a new phone so he could hara.s.s him, but he wanted to see what his brother was going to say to him before he decided to block his number once more.
Kang Liang: "Really? Don't go in yet. I'm coming."
"…"
Not hearing a reply, Kang Liang raised his voice, "Did you hear me? Please don't make me walk in there alone!"
Kang Jun sighed. "Hurry!"
Kang Jun hadn't planned to wait for long, but he would give his brother a chance. When Kang Jun drove, it took 15 minutes to get to the manor from Hotel Helios so that would be all he would give his little brother.
Waiting, Kang Jun leaned against his Maybach reading the old messages AnLing had sent him with a serene aura.
Lucky for Kang Liang, he was just around the corner so by the time half of the 15 minutes had pa.s.sed, he had already entered the gates of the Kang estate.
Kang Liang drove a motorcycle.
He cooly drove up to Kang Jun's car and then stopped with a screech.
"Brother!!" Kang Liang screamed as he still wore the helmet on his head.
Kang Jun looked at his brother and glared at him. Seeing his older brothers cool glare, Kang Liang removed his helmet revealing his head of blond hair.
Years ago, in order to debut in the entertainment industry, Kang Liang had changed his name to Liang Ke and changed his hair color to blond. He looked good in it. It suited the boys open and bubbly personality. Out of everyone in the Kang family, he was the most openly shameless and he loved to stand out.
Once a person got used to it, they would notice that the look was perfect for him but no one in the Kang family would ever admit that.
Hair needed to be black and only black.
They were old fashioned like that.
"How are you?" Kang Liang said approaching his brother. He then placed his arm around Kang Jun's shoulder and smiled.
Quickly, Kang Jun slammed his elbow into his brother's side, causing the boy to jerk backward.
"No touching… that's right. I forgot."
Kang Jun brushed off his suit.
The brothers made their way into the house.
As he entered, Kang Liang looked around the house as if he had never seen it before. It had been so long that he'd been there that he had completely forgotten how the place looked like.
"So, you know what the meeting's about?" Kang Liang asked with a low voice. He wanted to know if he had to prepare himself for a fight.
Kang Jun shrugged.
"It's an emergency. That means it has something to do with Kang Corporation."
Kang Corporations…
That only meant that Kang Liang was there as a technicality. When Kang Corporation was in jeopardy, or a family decision had to be made, the main branch would have to discuss the best way to fix the problem.
Kang Liang had no interest in such things but he had to attend.
"You getting in trouble today?" Kang Liang's voice contained slight worry but at the same time, he believed in his brother's abilities.
"If that's the case, so be it." Kang Jun said arrogantly.
Kang Jun was confident with the way he managed Kang Corporation. If anyone could do it better than him he would be glad to hand it over to them.
Hearing such a response, Kang Liang's face brightened.
Kang Jun and Kang Liang stood inside talking for a second before Kang Mu came out of the dining room doors. He was just about to call them but to his shock, both of his sons were already there.
He was going to hug them, but when he saw Kang Liang's bright blond hair, he sighed.
"Kang Liang, couldn't you have made yourself more presentable?" Kang Mu didn't understand his son's fascination with the entertainment industry. The boy looked like a K-pop star.
Kang Liang, not taking his father's words seriously laughed.
"It's a wig, dad. Just a wig." Kang Liang specified as he removed it revealing his natural jet black hair. Without the blonde, he looked completely normal. If it wasn't for his above average face and singing voice, he would blend into the ma.s.ses.
Kang Mu sighed harder.
"Thank G.o.d. Do you know what your grandfather would do if he saw that?"
"Beat me to death?" Kang Liang said with a smirk.
