Several women wanted to approach the man, but the closer they came, the harder it became for them to breathe. The man's aura was suffocating.
Today Kang Jun was supposed to meet the new person in charge of the Infinity Project. Kang Jun wanted to have a more private meeting but the person had insisted that they chose the time and place. At first, the man saw no harm in this, but once Mr. Long had told him the details of their meeting, Kang Jun couldn't hold back his annoyance.
Internally, he felt disgusted and uncomfortable inside the cramped club. To him, it stank of booze, smoke, and promiscuity. Though, despite his true feelings, his whole body expressed calmness
Kang Jun would have much rather been at home, or if he had to chose another bad alternative, at work.
But all in all, this was also for work so he sucked it up.
Gazing at the time, Kang Jun frowned. The person he was meeting was late.
"Mr. Kang." A cold voice said.
Turning to the side, Kang Jun's eyes met with a pair of long slender legs. Looking up, Kang Jun met the girl's eyes, before he pushed himself up from his seat.
"Tang Bingyi…" Kang Jun said as he shook the woman's hand.
Smiling coldly the girl nodded before taking a seat.
Leaning back into his chair, Kang Jun looked over the woman.
Tang Bingyi was young. Only 24 years old but she'd been working in the business for years. Right after high school, she'd begun working with her grandfather and mother in Tang Corp where she ended up earning the respect of many people.
A few years ago, Kang Jun had heard that she was next in line to succeed Elder Tang and by the fact that she was here and not her brother, Kang Jun could only a.s.sume that the rumors were true.
The two were sitting there quietly for a while with grim, cold faces. Their aura's seemed to mix and mingle together until the s.p.a.ce around them was as frigid as the coldest of winter days.
Watching then, no one wanted to approach them, but since the manager had informed the staff of the importance of the pair, a server reluctantly came and asked the two what they wanted to drink.
Kang Jun and Tang Bingyi weren't complicated. They both ordered a cold beer, and then when they got their drinks, they began to speak.
Kang Jun: "I thought your brother was taking care of the Infinity Project."
"I could ask you the same thing." Tang Bingyi glanced over the papers in her hand. "This project was supposed to be handled by… Kang Nianxi, was it not?"
"Last year it was. But since then there have been some changes. I see that it's the same for the Tangs."
Tang Bingyi let out a laugh. "Yes. My foolish little brother decided he wanted a career in entertainment, so I had no choice but to take over. Though I'm guessing that you can understand that."
Kang Jun gave her a business smile, but his eyes were as dark an abyss. "Little brothers are like that. They are free to make their own choices."
Tang Bingyi didn't confirm or deny Kang Jun's statement but she laughed without restraint.
"I see we have a lot more in common than I could have ever imagined."
As Kang Jun and Tang Bingyi began to talk business, Lu AnLing had been waiting at the bar for some time. While looking around, she quickly spotted Kang Jun's recognizable figure in all black. Though seeing that he was with a pretty woman, Lu AnLing felt a disgusting feeling invade her heart.
The man and the woman were both dressed in all black, with the only exception being the dark red lipstick on the woman's lips and Kang Jun's red tie. Examining them, it almost seemed like the two had coordinated their outfits.
Lu AnLing frowned.
As the pair spoke, Lu AnLing a.n.a.lyzed how the beautiful woman laughed and the man smiled and her mood began to worsen. She didn't want to see this.
She wanted to run away.
This was something about herself that Lu AnLing hated. Her fight or flight response was so heavily geared towards flight it wasn't even funny.
From the corner of his eye, Kang Jun saw a bright white flash. It was like a ghost, but when he turned his head, what he met with was a celestial being.
Not literally, of course, but in his heart, Lu AnLing was as close to that as anyone he'd ever met.
Sure, she wasn't the most beautiful of women but because she was who she was to him, his reactions were intensified by 100.
Though a part of him wondered why she was there and why she wore such a revealing dress. Looking at the eyes of many men size the girl up, Kang Jun felt a strong urge to kill.
Meanwhile, as she watched him, Tang Bingyi had a strange look in her eye. Seeing the way the man's expression softened when he looked at the girl in the short white dress, Tang Bingyi couldn't help but feel strange. It was as if she had seen something that she shouldn't have, but she quickly shook her head to eliminate the feeling from her expression.
"Mr Kang?" Tang Bingyi's voice rang.
Kang Jun turned back to look at her.
"So you're a man too…" Tang Bingyi said with a sly smile.
Kang Jun frowned.
Tang Bingyi continued to speak without giving Kang Jun a chance to interrupt. "I had heard that you have no interest in women. I mean, why else would you have ended two engagements. Some have even been saying that you're gay, but you don't seem to have any interest in men either. And as for the rumors that target your appearance," Tang Bingyi swept her eyes across Kang Jun's figure. "Anyone who thought you were nothing less than perfection is blind."
The way Tang Bingyi a.n.a.lyzed him made Kang Jun a bit uncomfortable, but he had known that he would be facing this when he had decided to come.
In her file, it spoke of Tang Bingyi being talented at dissecting and intimidating others and to Kang Jun's surprise, she met his expectations and even exceeded them.
Tang Bingyi leaned on the table.
"So, who's the girl?"
Kang Jun was shocked at how a girl, ten years his junior spoke to him so casually. If he didn't know better, he would have felt as if he was talking to a male friend, but Tang Bingyi filled none of those categories.
"We're here to talk about business, not girls."
Tang Bingyi crossed her leg over the other. "For some reason, I think I'd have more fun talking about the girl."
"She's just a random girl."
"Don't tell me you're looking at her because you like her dress?" Tang Bingyi laughed as she turned to see Lu AnLing disappear into the distance. "I'm sorry, but you're not a very good liar."
Tang Bingyi had seen a sparkle in the man's eyes when he saw the girl. Because of Kang Jun's usually cold demeanor and empty eyes, it was easy to spot when there was a change.
Seeing that the man wasn't going to answer, Tang Bingyi continued to speak. "Do you know why I chose to meet you here?"
Kang Jun didn't say a word. He just looked at her in the eyes, egging her on.
Suddenly, a charming smile appeared on the girl's lips.
"It's loud and no one would expect the two of us to be meeting here for business. Everyone in this place is here to have fun, they might look at us because we're both attractive but a grand majority of these people only know the people from their own entourage, hence, they have no idea who you or I am."
Listening to the girl's reasoning, he agreed. Though now that he thought about it, this was a perfect place to have a 'secret meeting'. It was too loud for a wiretap to be effective and where they sat was a blind spot for all the camera.
A smirk appeared on Kang Jun's face. This girl had piqued his interest.
"Mr. Kang, also, let me give you some advice." Kang Jun raised his head and looked at the girl in the eye, as he took a sip of his drink. Having all his attention, Tang Bingyi cleared her throat. "Outside of your home, don't show your emotions. Coldness suits you, but the real reason why I'm telling you this is because I would hate to see something bad happen to my business partner."
Kang Jun raised an eyebrow. He would have taken her words as a threat if she hadn't said it with a hidden meaning.
Someone's targeting you. Don't give away your weakness's so easily.
Kang Jun: "So you'll continue your business with Kang Corporations?"
Finishing her beer with one last gulp, Tang Bingyi pushed herself up from her chair.
"I don't like working with people I don't understand, but neither do I want to work with someone who is horribly predictable. As for you, I'm not quite sure how I feel just yet." Tang Bingyi brushed her hand through her silky straight hair. "Have your secretary contact my secretary. Let's arrange another meeting."
Kang Jun didn't know whether he wanted to laugh or cry, but he didn't linger on the feeling.
"'Till next time, Mr. Kang."
Turning, Tang Bingyi disappeared onto the dance floor, but Kang Jun paid her no attention. The girl had already made her decision, there was no point in pushing her. They would settle this in their next meeting.
Instead, he stood up abruptly.
