Chapter 6 Part 3 – People that are not from the same family don't live under the same roof
Kang Hui was satisfied with Chen Minhao's performance today. What she expects from an obedient artist meant that he or she should not be her puppet, but the artist themselves should understand her intention and realized their goals together.
On the way back to her office from the recording studio, Kang Hui kept on chattering, her tone was subtly increasing in pitch and she looked like a vastly different person from the the usual cold Kang Hui.
“I thought it would be best if we make Wu Hongrong agree to help you make a demo today. Even if we can't make him agree to help with your demo, I wanted to maintain a good relationship with him. You have exceeded the target today. In fact, this is really a coincidence, on one hand, he did have matters to attend at our company so he came here today, and on the other hand, you have to thank Wu Xiaoshuang for putting in good words for you to Wu Hongrong.
“Not every artist is given the opportunity to add Wu Hongrong as their phone contacts. The amount of times he initiated to exchange phone numbers can even be counted on the fingers of one hand. You have to know, the previous time, he rejected w.a.n.g Anqi's request to exchange phone numbers.”
“By the way, if you have written a song that is not suitable for you to sing and require minimum amount of vocal skills, you can give it to your senior sister w.a.n.g Anqi. Don't worry, if it's a suitable song, I'll make sure she compensate you greatly.”
Back in Kang Hui office, Chen Minhao looked at Kang Hui who was in a good mood, and decided to take the opportunity to solve some queries he had inside. “Why are you so insisting in making w.a.n.g Anqi a singer?”
Although he was now a.s.signed to Kang Hui and he had never seen w.a.n.g Anqi once before, the two words – “Senior sister” came out fluently from his mouth.
Kang Hui explained seriously: “Our company's allocated effort in w.a.n.g Anqi is considered only average, but with the company's resources, she can stand firm as one of the Four Young Dan Actresses. That means her acting is naturally unique and skilled. However, the roles she often performs do not require much acting from her, so when the casting crew is deciding who to cast, if there are two stars with similar acting skills, and one can sing the theme song, and the other can't sing it well, the casting crew will have to spend more effort in finding someone else to sing if they select to go with the one who can't sing. Which one do you think the director will choose?”
Kang Hui paused briefly, and added, “If you want to climb the ladders of the entertainment industry, you need to consider issues from the others' perspectives.”
Chen Minhao's evaluation of Kang Hui has reached a new height. The whole world know that one should bring out their strengths to make up for their weaknesses, but he did not expect Kang Hui to take an entirely unique approach in making up for w.a.n.g Anqi's weaknesses.
Seeing that Kang Hui had a pretty good mood, Chen Minhao cracked a joke with her. “Aren't you worried that I might leave the company once my contract of 3 years reached its end when you introduce a top notch resource like Wu Hongrong to me?”
“If you really want to leave, a contract will not be enough to bind you,” said Kang Hui, one word at a time, “I'll make sure you understand that following me is the best option for you.”
Kang Hui briefly pondered again, and said with a lowered voice. “There might be a change of a member in the trio group currently.”
“What?”
Chen Minhao felt that his mood today, was like riding a roller coaster.
Kang Hui did not lift an eyebrow and replied, “As to whether to replace Gao Dao or Zhou Mingrui, the CEO is still deciding.”
Confirming that it would not be him that would be replace, Chen Minhao breathed a sigh of relief.
To him, he had only known Gao Dao and Zhou Mingrui for a week, the three did not train together and the times that they see each other could be counted on the fingers of one hand. Furthermore, he considered the trio group as a springboard.
However, the three of them often communicate the daily progress of themselves to each other on the messaging app, and his two peers worked hard every day as well. He had already acknowledged them as his friends.
Before he could fight for them, he heard Kang Hui's stern warning. “Chen Minhao, I'm only letting you know because I wanted you to be mentally prepared. I'm only notifying this to you, I'm not discussing with you. This matter is not something you have any say in.
After a short pause, she added on. “This is not something I have a say in as well.”
