"Hana!" Renae waved at her cheerfully. "Finally, we've been waiting forever! Look, we got lots of good artifacts!" She pointed at Song Qi.
A pair of ivory wings floated behind the healer. In fact, her body seemed to be shrouded in a pale golden light.
"I'm leaving, Rina's in trouble." Hana sprinted past them, ignoring Renae's shouts behind her.
In record time, she ran toward the exit portal. Outside, the sky was nearing dawn. Hana rushed toward the dorm.
Gardevoir was already waiting by the door. "Gardevoir, gather the others and send them out to search for Rina," Hana ordered.
"That is unnecessary. The young girl is resting upstairs in her room." Gardevoir proceeded to recount what had happened the previous night.
Hana's face darkened. "She was unharmed but covered in blood?" She stormed up the stairs to Rina's room and swung open the door.
On pristine white sheets, a young girl lied with her eyes closed. Dried red trickled down a corner of her mouth. Hana staggered as a wave of nausea hit her.
In her mind, another fuzzy scene seemed to overlap her vision. A young girl half buried in pure white snow. Blood tricked down her mouth as her arms reached out. Her mouth moved soundlessly.
'Sister'
d.a.m.n.
Hana clutched her head. No, she is gone. This is Rina. Rina, this is Rina. Not her.
"We cleaned her up and changed her bed sheets. We also tried to feed her apple juice because the computer said it helps replenish blood. Unfornturaly there was no apple juice so we subsituted beet juice. " Gardevoir reported.
"Ok," Hana curbed her demeanor. She walked closer and frowned. On Rini's head, there was a pair of . . . ears? Her hands were small yellow paws, and a brown belt wrapped around her waist. This looked like . . . Leone? Leone cosplay from Akame Ga Kill?
Hana reached over and gently tugged the ears. They were real, attached to the head. So weird, as this Rina's ability?
However, seeing the sleeping state of her Rina and Zorua, her anxiety lessened. However, she was still angry. Who dared to attack her sister!
Hana frowned. Somehow, her negative emotions were overwhelming her. Anger, hatred, and frustration flooded her mind. Although she was fond of Rina, she shouldn't be feeling like this. Were these the remanent's emotions?
Hana clenched her fist. Some characteristics of her predecessor was slowly influencing her? Hana glanced at her hand. Ever since she came into this world, she had taken this body for granted.
Transmigration was crazy after all. Who wouldn't jump straight into exploring a new world? But she had neglected to realize that she had changed from her previous self. It was very strange and uncomfortable.
"Hana!" Renae appeared by the door, gasping. "You ran so fast! Couldn't you have explained a little clearer? What happened to Rina?"
Hana waved her hand. "She's alright now. I'll take care of her. Just go back and rest. I'll see you and Song Qi later."
"Huh? But . . . ok" Renae relented upon seeing the look in Hana's eyes. There was an invisible pressure there that somewhat scared her.
Hana shut the door. Looking at the figure of her sister, she asked, "How do you feel?" She had noted a slight change in Rina after Renae's interruption.
Rina's eyes blinked open. She sat up, resting Zorua on her lap. "Fine."
An awkward silence stretched between them. Hana could sense that something was off with Rina. The two stared at each other, purple eyes each holding different thoughts.
"Who are you really?"
"Who attacked you?"
The two broke the silence at the same time. "What?" Rina's question registered in Hana mind.
Rina held her gaze calmly. "You are not my sister, right?"
Hana's heart trembled slightly. She stated quietly. "What makes you think that?"
"My sister does not know how to cook. Although she was smart in some ways, she definitely could not score well on exams since she didn't have time to study. She absolutely cannot raid dungeons and she never showed signs of even wanting to learn how to use her ability."
Rina said softly. "Although you might have some similar characteristics, your aura is completely different. You are confident and arrogant, sometimes even coming off as pressuring. I don't know why you know so much about us but you cannot her her. So who are you really?"
Hana peered at her. The shy child from before was now displaying perceptiveness and logic of a mature adult. It was slightly unnerving.
"I'm not your sister." Hana said finally. "But this body is." She proceeded to outline what had happened in the last few weeks, along with her ident.i.ty.
Rina was silent for a long time. "So I was right. She left me too." She looked up. "But you have her memories right?"
"I do," Hana admitted, "but rather it's like I watched someone else's life from a different perspective rather than experiencing itself. Transmigration is a new thing for me. I think that although I crossed over, there are remanents of your sister in this body that influence me."
The young girl gave her an unfathomable gaze. "Since you have occupied by sister's body then treat it well. I will still consider you as her in this sense."
Hana twitched. Normally, wouldn't people be depressed or angry in this scenario? Or was this a form of denial? Is Rina refusing to admit that her sister is gone?
Akward, she really didn't know where their relationship stood at this point.
"But you were an a.s.sa.s.sin before?" Rina asked.
"In a way, yes." a.s.sa.s.sination was one of her specialties before she died. "Does it matter?"
Rina stared her her intensely. "Teach me. I want to learn how to kill."
