He led me to the round mat at the center of the circular clearing. There were cushions, comfy lounges and chairs, and a low table in this area.
I sat on the mat near the cushions close to the cages on wall shelves and watched Trix open all the cages to allow the animals freedom and be able to amble out of them if they had the strength.
The cages were stacked up high in rows on wide and deep shelves that had their ledges connected to a sliding ramp, which spiralled down to cushions on the mat.
My heart fluttered at the sight a tiny kitten mewing weakly with complaints as it clumsily rolled onto the mat, missing the cushion. Its tiny legs wobbled as it struggled to stand. I leaned forward to grab it in my hands and placed it on a cosy wool cushion.
It pawed the cushion and sat up to look at me through its bleary green eyes. Despite its weak green chi, it held an underling honest orange aura. It was a strong ego.
"Here. It'll be alright." I felt like crying as I gently patted its head. My heart wanted it to be healthy and strong.
The kitten arched its head forward to receive more of my pats. I tenderly picked it up, so it could sit on my lap and continued to pet it with lavish strokes along its back.
"Heal little one." I willed my heart's desire for it to be healthy with my pats.
"That's it." I heard Trix say next to me.
I gasped at the bright green glow around my hands. The green light saturated the kitten's body. Excited and feeling hopeful, I continued to pat it with the firm belief that it was being healed.
Green energy particles fortified around the kitten's body; boosting its green and orange particles to give it solid strength. The kitten's aura became bold and strong.
It stood up with its ears perked and did a happy circle around my lap. When its eyes met mine, I felt its thanks from them.
The kitten gave my hands a thankful lick and jumped off to run around and explore.
"You're a natural." Trix proudly patted my back.
He gave me further instructions and duties, which basically saw me repeating the process for all the animals that slid down the shelves or hobbled to the mats. Whilst he attended to the cages and animals that were unable to move.
The whole morning, I petted animals to heal them and found myself being a few of the dogs and cats play toy. It was fun and made me grateful for my power.
It had also drained my energy fast that my eyes dropped with exhaustion. My throat became dry with a kettle cough.
"Break time." Trix announced when he through a paper bag at me.
My eyes danced with delight at the sight of pink sweets cut in neat cubes. Coconut Ice I remembered Shuso calling them.
"Eat up. You'll need to replenish before lunch. I'm not gonna go easy on you," he said with a devious grin.
I was too infatuated with the Coconut Ice to bother with his words. I ate the sweet cube morsels with hearty mouthfuls and felt my energy instantly restored.
"d.a.m.n." I pouted when I tipped the paper bag upside down to confirm it was empty.
"You're a messy glutton when it comes to food." Trix observed.
"It's an insult to the food if you don't eat it properly." I justified my messy eating.
He laughed and motioned for us to get back to work. Especially when some of the recovered animals were trying to take advantage over the weaker ones. Fortunately Trix had isolated the ones we had yet to heal in an invisible magic barrier on the other side of the floor.
We rose and returned to our duties.
