Ryuu made sure we had a quick moment to fix up our student image before being part of the school ma.s.ses. He left us with instructions to make to the end door of the fourth floor, which was t.i.tled Cla.s.s 4-A. It seemed we'd be sharing this cla.s.s with others who were not aware of our purpose for attending school.
He warned us to ensure we kept the knowledge of our purpose and exemplar program a secret from all others, to which we readily swore to. It was common sense on why this knowledge shouldn't be spread.
My attention was drawn to Charlie and Jace hurrying in our direction. They seemed excited to see us. I sighed with relief when Death and War was able to focus the boys' conversation on them.
Jace eyed me with a frown. I saw his lips move.

I chuckled when I realised I could detect the patterns of his words from the shape his mouth made as he talked.
I heaved a deep sigh and raised my hands, signing my predicament to the boys. As expected, they both c.o.c.ked their heads to one side with perplexity, but gasped with understanding when Death explained on my situation.
"Death didn't mention on the mind shield. He said the recent fight was the cause," War said in my mind. I felt happy to hear his voice in my head.
Alina quietly came up behind the boys to join their sides. She looked adorable in her navy blue line tunic, long b.u.t.terfly collar long sleeved blouse and big blue bow tie filling up the spread area. Her knee-high socks and black school shoes was looking spanking new. Her brown hair had been cut and styled in a neat bob with a cute blue clip holding back her fringe from her heart shaped face.
I was able to see more of her big round brown eyes and calm expression. Her cheeks were so round and soft looking that I felt like that aunt who wanted to squeeze their niece's cheek. I smiled when Charlie acknowledged her with a friendly pat to her shoulder.
She regarded me with a sidewards glance and asked War a question. I almost cried with a fact that she had used her voice and I'd never be able to hear it.
War asked her another question, which prompted a response from her. He closed his eyes and slowed his breathing, like he was entering into a meditative state.
_"Famine seems quiet, so I asked."_ I heard Alina's voice in mind and stared at War who had opened his eyes, looking relaxed.
I told Alina of my deafness with my hands, which stirred a similar reaction from her when Death had translated my signing with spoken words.
Students suddenly began scattering and urging each other into a faster motion towards a cla.s.sroom. I felt that tickling sensation in the air again. I figured a school bell had rung.
Alina stepped up to me and grabbed my sleeve. She turned and led me down the hallway towards Cla.s.s 4-A. I glanced at my brothers with a weird smile as I followed her pull into the end cla.s.sroom.
