Inside my mind, I was having a hearty conversation with War.
_"I'm worried War. The more time we hang about with the knights, we're loosing time on finding Pesti."_ I soberly voiced my concerns in my mind.
_"Yah not the only one. I miss my pipsqueak baby bro too. Yah think I'm not as anxious to rush out and save him? Death's right. We gotta play our cards right. We're strangers to this city."_ War voiced his reasons telepathically.
_"Pesti could be suffering or..."_ My mind trailed off to the horrific image of Pesti's ego no longer in existence.
_"Famisto! Yah get that c.r.a.p outta yah head. He's alive! We'll find him, bring him home."_ War berated me.
_"Where's that War? Our home's destroyed."_
_"Our home is family, stupid. We be together and safe is all dat matters."_
Our internal chatter fell to silence as we continued to move through various corridors of the same quality.
_"h.e.l.lo Sweetie!"_ A s.e.xy female voice soothed my troubled mind.
I paused in step, allowing the others to get a head of me.
s.e.xy female voice?
"Marilyn?" I blurted and squirmed about due to the tickling sensation around my belly. I looked down to my Albert chain on my waistcoat and saw it glowing.
It glowed briefly before returning to dull. The tickling stopped. I felt a sudden drop on my shoulder.
"Hi Love." Marilyn's voice whispered into my ear.
"YEEK!" I shrieked.
"Famine! What is your..." Death began to scold me and paused with his eyes fixed to my shoulder. "What is with you and canaries?"
I gulped. "You can see her?"
Trix turned and regarded me with a serious expression. He approached close to inspect Marilyn.
"You're an attractive spellbook. Not like Colin's scruffy, uncouth raven." Trix complimented the bird, which made her ruffle her fluffy white feathers with pride.
"Ooh, like, you're so s.e.xy looking and, like, manly. Shame. I like pretty boys like my cute master." Marilyn coyly returned the appreciation.
"We have something in common." Trix gave her a tacky grin. I realized it was one I hadn't seen in a while.
"If you're visible, means Famine's heart is going through some unrest." His smile became a sober expression again.
"Quite. Like, he's so, worried about his baby brother." Marilyn dobbed me in.
"Oi!" I glared at the bird that I wanted to string into a feather boa right now. "Whose side are you on?"
"Famine. Shut up and continue to follow." Trix sighed and turned to resume the lead down the corridor.
"Why you..." My complaint was stopped with Death's hand over my mouth.
"Better do what that tacky captain says."
I screwed up my nose, but nodded and reluctantly complied.
