The Overlord - Naruto Fanfiction (COMPLETED) Chapter 40: A Boring Exam

"The First Stage of the Chunin Exam is going to be a race!" Onoki yelled out, from the top of the Iwa Gates, which stood at an impressive 30 meters. However his voice could still be heard properly.

"A race…?" Around a hundred teams were gathering, meaning it was a race 300 genins would partic.i.p.ate in, it would be very chaotic. Team 7 wouldn't have much of a problem ,but still, it was weird.

"To be more exact, each team will receive a 'token' this token will represent your hopes of reaching the 2nd Stage." Onoki grinned as he showed the token, a simple stone with a character which read ' IWA '

"Using this, you'll be ranked using your average speed, meaning you don't have to be first, you just have to be the fastest of the group to qualify… Now I must say I apologize to slow shin.o.bis, but you don't have a place among us!"

Several people got really angry, but they couldn't say much. " As shin.o.bis and kunochis you have to be ready for the worst possible situation… And this is merely a test for you!"

"Aaaaand… The First Stage begins RIGHT NOW!" Onoki roared as several figures shot forward, jumping from corner to corner. Team 7 only yawned, while Team 8 launched into action. "What is the point of rushing this?" Ryu smirked.

'You don't have to be the fastest to qualify' Those words rang in Team 7's ears. Onoki was fuming, when he saw that the Konoha Team had recognized the meaning of his words, while Iwa shin.o.bi also did recognize it, it was slightly mainly to him showing them the actual meaning of it.

"He also nevered signified the place where the race would end either, so it was just a decoy, the actual first stage is to actually ' listen to what your superiors' say carefully before acting. It's an important part of a mission." Ken smirked.

Onoki smirked as he jumped down, making himself as light as a feather. " You are smart people,indeed. Might you be interested in leaving Konoha to join Iwa?" He asked, that was genuine.

Team 7 smiled but respectfully declined, much to Onoki's annoyance. 'Konoha is gaining more and more smart people, it's getting rather annoying. Do I need to make the Training Schedule harder for School Students?'

The Iwa Shin.o.bi partic.i.p.ating in this Chunin Exam scowled at Team 7. " Konoha trash." They said at the same time, Ryu knitted his eyebrows, Yato ignored them, while Ken gained a tick in his forehead.

Ryu smiled sweetly, as he used his Infinite Paths to check the background of those six, only one of them actually had an incredible background, the rest were simply trash.

The most important of the six was, a boy named Moji. It seems his grandfather was a very important member of the Iwa Council. He had great mastery over the Earth Style, but still inferior to many.

The Iwa ninja clothes were cool though, he liked the red. Besides the Iwa teams and Konoha team, only a few more teams from Kiri had not rushed off, it seems there was also a team from k.u.mo.

However he did not pay much attention to them, no powerful figure among them, thus there was no need to.

Onoki snorted," They have about a hour before I call this race finished, if they can't realize this was just a test, they are not worthy of being Chunin yet."

Ryu rolled his eyes,"Indeed, I never knew that you could wipe out over fifty teams so easily, it's rather sad. I feel ashamed for those jounin instructors."

Most of those genins had received at least a year of training, but to be easily fooled by words was something to be ashamed of. This could lead to them being killed in the battlefield rather easily.

Ryu stretched his limbs and smiled at Ken,"Let's do a race, I bet I can reach that place over there faster than you." Ken had an amused expression,"You think? Let's do it!"

'Onoki, you think we forgot that you said we had to reach a certain 'speed' to pa.s.s this exam? Fool!' Ryu smirked,"I want to join this race too, might be interesting." Yato said with a slight smile.

The three got ready, as Ryu suddenly shouted,"Start!" and the three dashed at a speed which was amazing. It was a speed of around 70 kilometers per hour. A speed which was seen as incredible for genins.

Onoki's eyes widened,'Those brats are definitely chunin material… They can possibly become a great a.s.set to Konoha… What luck those tree huggers have,geez.' He snorted and avoided the race.

Ultimately Ryu won the race, reaching a maximum speed of 79 kph. They had estimated that the speed they had to reach to pa.s.s the exam was 40 kph. The others had finally realized that they had to show their speed in some way or another.

The Iwa Shin.o.bi smirked, they had not really noticed how fast the Konoha Team was going, but they weren't going to go any slower. They suddenly had their own race, and Moji won with a speed of around 60 kph. Onoki nodded ,that was considered acceptable for chunins.

He looked at a jounin of Iwa next to him and asked him something, the jounin proceeded to reply, earning a nod from the Tsuchikage, who extended his arms,"Everyone, the one hour wait has been concluded. The First Stage of the Chunin Exam is over! Only 24 teams managed to pa.s.s the first stage."

This earned confuse among the other 26 teams in the area. They hadn't rushed like the other 50 teams, why were they left behind?

"Why were we failed?!"

"Yeah! We did not do anything like the others, we listened to your words!"

A single roar from the jounin next to Onoki made them all go silent"Shut up! You are not superior to lord Tsuchikage! In his presence you can only ask for permission to speak, f.a.ggots."

That did silence them, but it also made a seed of anger sprout inside them. It was not a good thing, Onoki extended his arm, stopping the jounin from speaking further." The reason you, 26 teams were failed is easy to answer."

"And so I will answer you fools… In a very easy manner. Now look properly and listen to me, you morons!"
